Wild West

Post by jaysun81 »

For the past five years I've been playing in the various Doctor Who / Cthulhu crossover scenarios that Mr. Handy has effectively ran here at Play@YSDC. That said, I'd love to play in a Wild West Cthulhu game if there are any Keepers out there who would be interested in running one.

Thank you! I have no plans to run one, but I've been playing in one on this site run by Papa Gateau, called The Train to Hell. It has stalled a couple of times, however. A month ago he resumed it, but he hasn't posted there since then.

I saw that. However, I wasn't sure what the current status of that game was, and whether or not there was any openings. I'll dig up the recruitment thread and post in it.

I could try to set this one up on here.

Small episodes might be run up till then.

Characters will be created as we proceed on.

For now, the area will be revealed and the setting will be laid out.

The place called Gold City is known to all as Devil's Gulch. To the east of Devil's Gulch lies Maple Hill Prison. Up North rests small town Purgatory, a place to rest your bones at.

Theme song for the scenario is

A falcon swept across the vast prairie desert, searching for a prey to rip to shreds with its talons. It had made this flight more times than it cared to remember. The big bright ball was setting in the horizon to the west. A breeze which had carried the falcon over the plain started to weaken.

Then a glimmer caught its good eye.

Thunder struck.

A sharp, warm feeling

– then only darkness.

A one eyed guard spat out his chew tobacco. “Got you!” he hissed and reloaded his rifle. The sun was setting and that falcon had been flying the same route for the last month. Never get stuck in a rut. His father had told him, that was over thirty years ago. He had failed miserably. The outlook watch was his spot. It was on him to take down whoever tried to crawl away from the prison.

Maple Hill Prison

The prison is perched on the cliff of a high desert area, much like Arizona. The North East part of the prison is virtually on the limb, with a guard tower molded into the cliff face. The strategic point of this guard tower has a 220 degrees angle of the prairie below. Anyone trying to escape will be caught in the crosshairs of the guard.

Two cell blocks hold the majority of the prisoners. 120 hardened men and 16 fallen women. The men do their time on Mount Maple while the women pay their debt on Maple Hill. The two places are warded off by a solid stone wall.

A large exercise yard open up for manual labour and stone hacking. Pulling large blocks of stone from a nearby quarry to make gravel is one of the key elements of life at Mount Maple.

The east and the west walls have a guard tower each. The front of the prison sports an entrance portal with iron doors and a barred gate. Outside, the warden´s house watches over the grounds. Next to the house is the guards barracks and a barn. Down a trail leading to the quarry, a broad, tall structure towers. The main tower – where four guards man the watch at all times. A total of fifteen guards are stationed at Mount Maple. (Currently eleven)

Just east of the prison grounds a cemetery rests. All poor souls who succumb to the harsh conditions at Mount Maple, or gamble an escape, end up here. A lone old maple tree rises above a mason wall circling the graveyard.

I had this one on another site before but got caught in exam papers and grades.
Holler and I'll set it up.

I'd be interested in playing in this too, if you're sure you have time to run it.

Sounds like we'd have a band of outlaws ready to fill up Maple Hill.
Great!

Now, I'll wait for my internet to get back!

I'd like to strap on the six shooter for this if there is a seat in the saloon.

No, I won't go there...

You are welcome to add your six shooter to the party!
I am hesitant wether to start this Wild West or another game, though.

I will put up the description of the other game, and let you guys decide.

Cheers!

If there's no interest for EH, I'll launch Maple Hill. Win-win situation :D .

As things stand now, I've started the Emerald Hammer.

I will launch Maple Hill after this game. So, all depending on how well it goes, we'll be using them six shooters in the end, I promise.

Have a Whiskey and put up your boots by the fireplace.

I might even do one chapter of Emerald Hammer and then start Maple Hill, making seasons of the two games.
