CoC Game

Post by gre81 »

I am totally new to this. I have the 6th Edition rule book and downloaded a CoC character generator for my iPad. Now I need to try my first game. Anyone willing to have a total newbie?

Welcome, Gre81! I've validated you, so now you can post on the game boards. You'd be welcome to join any or all of my games, and I'm sure there are others looking for players. I've taken on new players before in my games, and I'd be happy to show you the ropes.

My Doctor Who/Call of Cthulhu campaign is on its third adventure, The Shadow Over Dunwich, which is a UNIT adventure set in Dunwich, England in 1985. There is only one opening right now: Raymond MacIntyre, UNIT Technical Advisor. There's some catching up involved, but it should be manageable. We're well into Episode 3. No knowledge of the first two games is needed, but you can read them in the Hall of Fame if you like.

Zombie Apocalypse is a modern non-Mythos game, though it has its own similar mythology. It's been running for over seven and a half years, but you could join in with little to no catching up, as we're still only on the second day of game time (a lot has been happening). You could take over existing characters or create your own.

Space Oddity is inspired by Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes and is set in 1969 Philadelphia. It's been running for almost five years, but you wouldn't need to catch up if you create a new character. You could also take over an existing character; the amount of back reading required varies depending on which one you want.

Thanks for the welcome. I don't think I want to jump on so late in the campaign. Keep me in mind when you do a 1920 CoC.

Hi there Gre81 and welcome to the forums.

As for games with openings, I have two games that have openings if you are interested, either with a pre-generated investigator or we could go through the process of generating one if you'd prefer. The two games I have in mind are - The Condemned ; and - Spawn of Azathoth

Of the two, Spawn of Azathoth is a campaign and Condemned is an investigation, so if you are looking to 'dip your toe in the water' so to speak then The Condemned may be a better call Having said that, although Spawn is a campaign, I am still running an introductory investigation - so the campaign itself has not yet commenced.

Either way you'd be welcome to join in with either and the players in both are all experienced and both willing and able to help people in your position and experience.

That sounds good. I have several pre-generated characters. Been using the app to do this if that is ok. What do I need to do next because I am new to all this?

Gre81,

I have just got back from the hospital having received word that my Father in Law has died so I may not be posting as regular over the next few days as I have funerals to sort out and all the associated trappings. I will post as and when I can. I feel bad because I have just asked you about this but well, we cannot put a time on our passing I suppose. I will certainly have you in either or both the games if you are prepared to wait a few days. Apparently won't be able to do a great deal till Monday because the hospital cannot release the death certificate until late tomorrow PM. Also apparently you have to book an appointment to register a death these days ... red tape gone mad!!! (Sorry - rant over lol )

Back as soon as I can

I am so sorry to hear that. My prayers are with you and your family. No hurry here. I'll wait until I hear from you.

Gre81,

What sort of characters had you in mind to play? What have you prepared already? If you forward them on to me I can run the once over them and offer whatever advice I can, if any ;-)

Sounds good Gre81. As you have two, do you have any preference on which game they slot into?

No. It makes no difference to me as this will be my first time playing.
