New to play by post looking to play some CoC games or anything Cthulhu Mythos related. I've got some experience with RPs, tabletop-wise but as I said, no experience on this forum stuff. Hope yo hear from someone

Welcome, smug_jaguar! I'm running three games, and you'd be welcome to join any or all of them. Zombie Apocalypse is modern (though non-Mythos). It's been running for just over six years, but it has only recently entered the second day of game time. Chapter 7 started late last year, but you could join in without too much catching up. Several recently added pregenerated characters are available, and/or you can create one or two of your own. There's always room for new players in this game, and there's even more now since several long-time players had to drop out.

Space Oddity is set in 1969 Philadelphia and inspired by Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes. It's been running for over three years now. Several abandoned characters are available, and you could take one of them over or make your own character. Right now there are only a handful of active players.

My Doctor Who/Call of Cthulhu campaign samples a variety of eras. The first game, The Terror Out of Time, took place in 1930 London, but it finished last August. The second game, The Ninth Planet, takes place on Pluto in 2112, and it is currently underway. We're well into Episode 4, and I expect to finish within weeks. There are several abandoned characters you could take over if you want to join, but you can't create your own character in that one. The third adventure, The Shadow Over Dunwich, will probably start in August. It's a UNIT adventure set in 1985, and you'd be able to make your own character in that one. It's set in Dunwich, England.

I like the sound of just dropping into someone's abandoned character in the 9th Planet. I'm new to play by post RP-ing so it seems like a good way to acclimatize. Also, Doctor Who is sweet, so I'm keen. Just let me know what I need to do or sling me the information or whatever and I will take to it with gusto. And if this works out well for me I'd be keen to continue through to the Shadow Over Dunwich one.

Great! Welcome aboard. The available characters are Private Sofia Torres (computer specialist), Private George Bond (engineer), Lt. Colleen Rose (communications officer), Sergeant Heinrich Kohl (security officer), and Private Robert MacCrimmon (security officer). Their character sheets are listed here. Just look through them and choose the one you want. Then post your choice either in this thread or the OOC chat thread (The Zero Room) in The Ninth Planet's forum. I've validated you, so you can post in the games sections now. I'll send you a PM with your character's secrets. You'll also need to catch up on what your character has done so far. You should read all of your character's IC (In Character) threads, but none of the other IC threads, with the sole exception of Introduction in Episode 1. You should also read the sticky threads for new characters. Find your character's initial IC thread in the Episode 1 subforum and start reading. At the end of each thread, you'll see a link directing you to the next one. Once you've caught up and read your secrets, you may post in your current IC thread. Heinrich and Robert start in Security Briefing, Colleen starts in Mission Control, Sofia starts in The Doctor Is In, and George starts in Pluto Rocks. Have fun!

Note that you will not be able to play this character in the next adventure unless you travel with the Time Lord in the TARDIS, which is highly unlikely at this point. You will, however, be able to create your own character and play from the beginning in that one.

Sweet man, thanks a lot. I'd like to start/continue along with Sergent Heinrich Kohl, he seems a simple enough character to play, statwise and he's got enough hitpoints that I won't have to worry about dying immediately, I think. I'm totally new to play by post btw, so I apologise in advance if I screw up somehow. Do I just post what I want my PC to do and go from there?

You're welcome! Yes, pretty much. You'll have to wait for me to give you the results of your actions, your observations, and reactions from NPCs. When you read Heinrich's threads so far, you'll get a good idea of how the story flows. I'll send you his secrets Wednesday night, and then you can start posting once you've caught up.

Welcome, Quantum Lemon! Yes, I'd be glad to have you join Zombie Apocalypse, and there's always plenty of room. I've validated you so that you can post on the game boards. You can find the character sheets in the Character Sheets thread in the Chapter 7 subforum here. You may play multiple characters if you like, and it is recommended. You may take any of the characters from players who are marked MIA as well as those characters who have not been claimed (except for the ones labeled Deceased, of course). You'll have less catching up if you choose characters who were added in Chapter 7. I'll list them below:
