New Player

Hello. I'm more or less new to rpgs so I thought I'd give this a try. I'm a big fan of the game and the Cthulhu Mythos, so I'd really like to try something like 1920S or Modern, but I'd play anything that looks fun or interesting. Thanks.

Zombie Apocalypse always has room for new players, and you'd be welcome to join. It's a modern Blood Brothers style of campaign, more survival horror than investigative horror. While it doesn't involve the Cthulhu Mythos, it has its own mythology behind it that has similar elements.
This thread has more information; the last post includes a link to information for new players. Chapter 4 just started a couple of months ago, so the newly added characters don't have much catching up required, and the nine characters I just added have no catching up needed at all.

You should start by choosing one or more of the pregenerated characters you want to play. I recommend choosing multiple characters, as the game is highly lethal, but other players only have one character, so it's up to you. The Character Sheets thread in the Chapter 4 subforum lists all of the characters' (known) stats and skills, so you should look through them and see which ones are available that you'd like to play. To simplify things, I'll list them below. Once you've made your selection(s), you can post them in the Character Selection and Discussion thread in the main forum (which also has instructions for which characters you may pick - the link I provided above has links that go directly to the relevant posts). Each character has secrets, which I'll send to you in a PM once you make your choices. Here is the list of characters added in Chapter 4 that are still available, broken down by section:
