OOC: He could jump down the stairs onto the man facing you and Artemis. Or try to at least. |
Re: Chapter 1: New York City
Artemis continues down the stairs keeping his eye on the grated stairs and the switchblade in the fleeing man's hand. As he climbed down, he readied the walking stick for a swing with his hand firmly on the bottom of the stick making the handle the source of any damage that might be inflicted.
OOC: So, what would he roll against when he gets within combat range? Grapple or punch? |

Re: Chapter 1: New York City
"Great shot, Mr. Edwards! Now, alerting the constabulary might be the appropriate course of action to follow.", Horatio says between grunts as he's keeping his arm-lock on Jackson's killer.
"He said we were all cooked but we were all right as long as we did not know it. We were all cooked. The thing was not to recognize it."
Re: Chapter 1: New York City
As Artemis continued down the stairs at knife wielding man, he continued to watch the man's stance and eyes for any sign of how he planned to attack. When he got within range of his walking stick he swung it hard towards the head hoping that a well placed strike could knock the villain out. His walking stick was one he had had made after he had been wounded in the Great War, it's hand ball was made out of a trench brass and was polished from use.

His swing went wide and smashed the grate as he came into range. "Damn it," he exclaimed.

Re: Chapter 1: New York City
Roger picks up the bloodied machete from the floor and throws it away, out of reach from the killer. Then rushes outside the room, looking for a member of the hotel staff. As soon as he finds one, he's going to ask him to contact the police - with urgency.
Re: Chapter 1: New York City
"I can call the police," says Amy, anxious to do something to help. "But...what do I tell them?"

OOC: Jump. Unless I ask you to roll a specific check then used your own judgement on what skill you need to roll. I would have taken Fist/Punch or Grapple as well. |

Re: Chapter 1: New York City
In the room Horatio holds on to the thrashing man who tries to break out of his grip. Horatio keeps his hold on the man though. Amy can hear the men fighting and she sees something thrown to the floor by the door. It is a bloody knife about 2 or 3 feet long. Roger comes out in the hall with a panicked look on his face as he looks up and down the hall.
Out side on the fire escape. Anderson jumps down onto the third floor landing but the knife welding man backs up and is not hit. Artermis advances down as well and swings his walking stick but the man ducks under the blow. The man stabs at Artermis but the blade only hits empty air.
The other man facing Gerald lets out a grunt and charges him down the stairs to the second story landing. Gerald is forced to back up to keep the machete like blade from hitting him. Gerald can see the man clearly now. He is a black man in his twenties with scars on his face and headband with a strip of red cloth hanging down in front of the man's face.

Re: Chapter 1: New York City
Despearte to not get all chopped up, Gerald aims the dark fellow with the peculiar head garment with his bare knuckles. The pipe idea had seen fine initially. Now, only foolish. He sees the dear pipe fall through the stairs.
"What a waste.", he thinks as he jabs at the massive head of his attacker.

Re: Chapter 1: New York City
Artemis lifted the cane again and brought it down towards his assailant's head, hoping that a blow will not only land itself, but in doing so knock out the attacker.
[Spoiler-Button]
[dice]0[/dice] to hit;
[dice]1[/dice] damage.
[/Spoiler-Button]
His swing missed again, and he realized that it might be a better approach to treat the walking stick like a military rifle and use it in a similar fashion as he was trained years ago in basic and in the trenches of France.

Re: Chapter 1: New York City
Amy gasps when she sees the bloody blade. "No..." she cries, running for the elevator so she can get down to the lobby and telephone the police as fast as possible.

Re: Chapter 1: New York City
Horatio keeps the man pinned, lifting the murderer's arm high behind the man's back.
"Whom do you work for, you fiend? Why did you do this to Jackson?"

OOC: Artemis gets +25% chance to hit with Anderson's distracting the man. |
Re: Chapter 1: New York City
Anderson's sudden arrival via a quick jump down the grate, combined with his shouting at the assailant gave Artemis another chance to slam the wood of the cane up against the knife-wielding criminal.
Artemis stumbled and missed with the cane. "Damn it,"he shouted.
