Well of Sacrifice (IC)

[Quatermass]

Outside in the Cenote. Quinn tries to treat Juan but he breaths his last breath after a minute or so.

Quinn then hears someone yelling from up above. It sounds like Old Pedro. "...what....noo....AHHHHH!!......" The yelling ends with a scream and then silence.

[Mr. Handy]

"Yes, it is Camazotz," says David, recalling his studies. "The Mayans must have been desperate indeed to turn to such a cruel god."

[kabukiman]

"Well, no water to drink or to use in farming was terrible indeed. They must have probably starved."

[Grognardsw]

Quinto draws his pistol and runs to the cave mouth.

"We have trouble out here!" he yells inside to the others. "Come out quick!"

[Mr. Handy]

David makes his way back towards the cavern entrance. "Shh!" he hisses. "Don't wake the bats."

[Tabs]

Anna looks questioningly at the Professor and Percy. "What on earth. . . ? Quinn's in trouble," she states, and goes back to the rope with which they climbed down.

[Quatermass]

As David and Anna start to leave the chamber and Mitch goes over to pick up his camera, the bats above start to twitter louder and open their wings. The sound of Quinto's yelling must have awoken them.

"Damn, they are waking up!" says Mitch a little louder that he should have.

"Let's get outta here!" hisses Anna.

[Mr. Handy]

David nods, ushering Anna out of the cave as quickly as he can.

[Grognardsw]

As David and Anna exit the caves, Quinto waves them over.

"I was climbing back up when Juan screamed and fell down into the cenote. He's dead! The others up there screamed. Something's attacking them!"

Percy joins the group and help Anna to climb as fast as she can.

"Jaguar," says Anna, her hand automatically touching her leather pistol holder.

About 15 feet up the rope stops and then slips back down about 5 feet in a jerk and then it completely gives way and you fall the remaining ten feet on to your back.

Quinto throws the rope back up for everyone to climb.

David, Amy, and Percy see Juan laying crumpled in the brush. Blood coming out of his mouth, nose, and ears. He is not breathing.

The rope has falling down into the cenote into a heap of coils. Quinto picks up the rope and looks around. He he remembers the grappling hook and starts attaching it to the rope.

Amy looks around and says. "Where is Mitch?' just before you hear yelling coming from inside the cave.

[Mr. Handy]

"Mitch!" calls David, turning back to the cave entrance and shining his light inside so both of them can see. "This way!"

Anna does not know what to do for the best, and so hesitates.

[Quatermass]

David shines his flashlight into the cave and sees Mitch running towards him with a surging mass of the giant white bats close behind. Mitch stumbles out of the cave and falls to his knees. His shirt is ripped in several places and there are bloody scratches and bite marks on his hands and arms. David sees the bats surge forwards only to be checked by the sunlight that is streaming into the mouth of the cave. They seem to hesitate for a second and then they draw back into the darkness.

Seeing that the bats are not following Mitch catches his breath to say. "I tried to stay for a second to get a good photograph of the bats when they attacked me. It was like a swarm from hell."

[kabukiman]

Percy goes running to get Mitch.
"And you almost get yourself killed. Let's get out of here, before the bats change their mind."

[Mr. Handy]

David also goes over to help Mitch. "We don't really need photographs of the bats, anyway," he says. "It wasn't worth risking your life. All we really needed were the ones you took earlier of the altar, frescoes, and urn."

[Grognardsw]

Quinto throws the grappling hooked rope up, catches secure purchase, and climbs up. He peeks over the top before getting up.
