IC-Ep 5-Caves of Terror(Leonek Novak/Carla Ecarg)

"They're sea creatures, won't they catch up with us better in water? Grrr, Rover probably can't swim, and he's the big one to worry about. Fine. Hold your breath, Leo, we're going in, and I'd rather die than leave another to their doom if I can help it!" Carla jumps into the water, still carrying Leonek.

Carla raced across the chamber, Rover right behind her making a maddening whistling, piping sound. "Tekeli-li," it echoed through the cavern as she plunged into the water carrying Leonek. It stopped, but the three Sea Devils circled around it and pursued her into the submerged tunnel. She desperately tried to get through it, but she had lost her sense of direction and got delayed bumping into the passage wall. This gave the Sea Devils a chance to catch up to her, and they tried to snare them in their nets. All of them missed, and one of them accidentally entangled another.

Carla managed to get her bearings and swam down the tunnel with all her might, one arm wrapped around Leonek, who finally found he could move his limbs. The sensation of the invisible tentacles was gone. They emerged into the open sea from the mouth of the cave. The two entangled Sea Devils were busy getting the net off, but the third one pursued them and started to ensnare them!

OOC,I went ahead and rolled for [b]Carla[/b], as her player hasn't posted in some time. Fortunately, she succeeded at her Swim roll. [b]Carla[/b], please roll Dodge unless you want to get trapped in the net. [b]Leonek[/b], you now have freedom of movement. Please roll Swim first. If you succeed at that, you may then attempt your own Dodge roll. Otherwise, you can't get free, but [b]Carla[/b] will still carry you out of the net's path if she makes her roll. [b]Leonek[/b], you'll also need to roll CON x 8 to avoid beginning to drown. [b]Carla[/b] would have to roll too, but her CON is high enough that this is an automatic success for her.

Leonek almost took a breath of relief when he felt the invisible tentacles fall off, but managed to refrain from taking a huge gulp of seawater. His other instinct was to start swimming, but Carla's strong arm around him prevented it.

The net closed around Carla and Leonek, pinning their limbs, just as they thought they were free. The other two Sea Devils joined the one that had caught them, and the three working together dragged their captives back up the sunken tunnel.

Carla searches for an emergency survival knife on her person. If too tangled to reach for anything, Carla tries to bite open the net without sucking in too much water.

Leonek tries to grab for a knife as well, either on his person or on Carla's, as he feels his lungs start to burn due to lack of oxygen .

Leonek could hold his breath no longer, and salty water flooded into his lungs. Neither he nor Carla could reach their weapons, as the net held their arms too tightly, and it was too thick for Carla to bite through. The Sea Devils dragged them back into the cave with the altar, and not a moment too soon. Leonek's head broke above the surface, and he gasped and spluttered involuntarily. The Sea Devils dragged their waterlogged, netted captives onto the central dais, where Rover loomed over them. The female Sea Devil stood beside it.

"We have captured them, Priestess," said one of the Sea Devils.

"Excellent," said the priestess. She addressed the prisoners. "We're going to disarm you now. Resist or try to flee and you will be fed to Rover." The Sea Devils started to reach inside the net for their guns.

Leonek just gasped for air, trying to will away the thunderous throbbing in his head.

Carla, too flustered and mad to think clearly, merely waits patiently.

The Sea Devils methodically searched their prisoners, taking all of their weapons, ammunition, and other equipment of any size and piling it up on the platform. They also took the radios, though there wasn't any reception down here anyway.

"A wise choice," said the priestess. "Chain them up with the others."

The Sea Devils secured the netted prisoners and dragged them down the tunnel to the left. The cavern below was partially submerged, with the water about four feet deep. Along the rear wall were four sets of manacles well above the waterline. Two of them were occupied, one by an unconscious and bloody Sergeant Valentine Hale, the other by a UNIT marine, both of them wearing diving suits. The marine looked unhurt but very frightened. Also in this cavern was a hideous creature that Leonek remembered having seen on the viewscreen in the TARDIS. It resembled the Sea Devils somewhat, but it was a good twelve feet tall and had a face full of writhing tentacles, and it also had numerous slimy tentacles in addition to its arms that ended in vicious-looking claws. From the shape, it seemed vaguely female. The monster had a large dorsal fin on its back, which they saw because it was facing the chained men, but it turned to look at them when they were brought inside. It had a chest wound that appeared to be from a bullet.

Sanity loss is 1/1d8, If you lose 5 or more Sanity, you must roll Idea. If you succeed at the Idea roll, you go temporarily insane again (your original insanity has since ended), and you will gain another point of Cthulhu Mythos. You may both also make a Cthulhu Mythos roll. [b]Leonek[/b]'s STR loss was temporary, and he is now back up to his whopping 9 STR.

OOC,Wow, three 79s in a row! :o There's no need for a CON roll (CON x 7 is an automatic success for you anyway), but you do need to roll 1d8 to see how much Sanity you lose, since you failed the Sanity roll (your current level was 70). Then, if you lose 5 or more, you'll need to roll Idea.

Leonek didn't bother hiding his disdain for the creatures and he remembered, not without some spite, the last time he'd seen the creature. That TARDIS sure would have come in handy now...


"Vhat are you going to do vith us?", he demanded, unsure whether he'd prefer being forced to mate with these creatures to death by horrible tentacle intrusion.

The sight of the huge creature was too much for Carla. Once more she broke, and she began to chatter incessantly.

"That depends," said one of the Sea Devils, as the creatures dragged Leonek out of the net and manacled him to the cavern wall. "It'll be up to High Priestess Y'Hali, who will be in to see you once the battle is over. Maybe she'll want you for sacrifices to Mother Hydra. Or perhaps you'll be given the chance to marry our people, and live." The Sea Devils then hauled Carla over to the wall and locked her into the final set of manacles.

"You ugly," the large creature said to Carla. The irony appeared to be completely lost on it, or maybe it had never seen its own reflection. Then it looked at the marine. "You handsome. Emilia want!" The man began to scream as she advanced on him.

"Emilia, wait until your mother has a chance to talk to them," said a Sea Devil. "You might break him if you play with him. Remember what happened last time. Wait until she's done with him, and then maybe she'll give him to you. Come on, let's go."

The Sea Devils and Emilia went up the sloping tunnel, leaving their prisoners alone.
