For Tabs Benefit:
Spoiler:
BRING HABOOB (Sandstorm): the caster focuses strong swirling winds. In a desert or among coastal dunes, this produces a sandstorm. The cost of the spell is 20 magic points, it takes an hour to cast, and also requires 1D4 Sanity points. This very cost-effective spell produces a whirling storm roughly 20 miles across with winds averaging 30 mph and gusts roughly twice that.
i.e: No special components but not the right area and a high MP cost making it impossible to cast on just his MP.

CHANT OF THOTH: may increase the caster’s chance to solve a particular intellectual problem. To cast it requires 30 minutes of time and 1D4 Sanity points. For every magic point spent in the chant, the caster adds 2 percentiles to his or her chance to gain knowledge, learn a spell, translate a passage, deduce the meaning of a symbol, etc. If the user’s chance is less than 10%, the Chant of Thoth cannot help: thus for it to aid in translating a passage in Latin, the caster must know at least Latin 10%.
i.e. no special components just takes time and SAN cost.

FIND GATE: makes apparent to the caster any Gate to or from another world or plane, if it is within the caster’s vision. The spell costs 1 magic point and 1D3 Sanity points. This spell locates: it does not empower anyone to open, close, create, or pass through any Gate
i.e. Quick and easy spell, no components. Arguably your most useful but the SAN cost would be prohibitive for casting it regularly

VOICE OF RA: temporarily increases caster APP and certain related skills. The spell requires 5 magic points and 1 Sanity point. The ritual takes two hours to complete, and a variety of herbal components are burned during the casting. For 24 hours, the spell adds 1D10 APP to the caster, and increases by 20 percentiles each the caster’s Bargain, Credit Rating, Fast Talk, Persuade, and Psychology skills
A useful spell but it is one that requires herbs. In the spirit of fun, these do grow in African Jungle, but you will need to go foraging for them. They are rare but not vanishingly so; it will take time and effort (or money and an exotic money) to find them...please make up the names of the two or three herbal stuffs you need if you go down this route!

Moving to the night then, which seems as good a scene as any!

Your watch is yours, and ill throw it open for any plans you might have or incidents you might like. I would fancy something horrible creeping up at you at night, but when and how this happens I would like suggestions on! of course if you fancy spending your watch getting drunk / thieving the Frenchmen / collecting moths, or anything else, please say so!

Of course Baxter will take his watch quite seriosly, at least for the first hour. Then he will begin taking sips of gin (for medicinal purposes, of course), If suprised he will respond with a fusilade of gunfire. Probably missing everything but sending the camp into an uproar. If there had actualy been anything I leave to you as I do the outcome of any bedlam caused.

Huge apologies for the huge delay folks. I had a very busy week running up to my annual leave combined with fighting off the bug that had laid low half my team. My job can drain...

Anyway, on annual leave now so space to think! No need to drag out this scene particularly, its more of an interlude before the S hits the F. But, as ever, guided by you guys! There will be madness, disease, drugs, spears and frogs coming up!

Carstairs can make a Nilo-Saharan skill roll at 01% if he wishes (to understand the whispered calls!)

In the mean time, the mad woman will try to strangle him; [dice]0[/dice]

Thats a hit, a strangulation. Carstairs can attempt a dodge if he wishes.

This isn't going to be a protracted fight, just an all out strangle!

If he wishes to break off the strangulation he can match STR vs 10. Otherwise the strangulation will cause 1D3 HP damage

In any case, the attack (unless he dodges) will cause 1/1D3 Sanity loss from the horrible nature of the eye gouging, screaming madwoman attacking him by surprise.

Ok time for a little depravity and so on...

Carstairs is being furiously licked by the madwoman. Seeing as I am not going to go for a lick skill, I'll roll Castairs Luck to see if he can avoid getting slobbered on: [dice]0[/dice]

Which he does, and although the effect is disconcerting, no more SAN loss.

Castairs at this point can try and break free (a STR vs 10 opposed roll), shoot off a round into the air, or, assuming he has a revolver not a rifle, shoot the madwoman (which will automatically hit although you may want to make a roll just to see if it impales, if you want to make it a more lethal version). Of course, anything else you wish to do, sing out.

NB: At this point we are getting into some very mad terrain with the toad people. This will include some "sex" stuff - although I will be a great pains to avoid anything erotic or pornographic. In other words it might have sex in it but it will almost certainly not be sexy. I understand that lines may need to be drawn so if anybody wants to sing out please do. The broad idea is that the Toad people are both mad, violent, and sexual in a ritualistic way. Quite an affront to Victorian values although some PCs may have conflicted feelings about it. Again, I hope I can reassure you this will be far far from any horror-porn genre. Please comment.

I have my rifle, but not a revolver, so I tried to break free again. This time I succeeded wildly.

Horror-porn genre . . . ! I don't care really. It's the fakery of porn which annoys me . . . and Burton would agree as well.
Supercape,Voice of Ra sounds a good one. Burton will collect the herbs; I'll ic his quest for 'em when there's a break in the action.

Madwoman is running!

Burton and Carstairs have a chance to shoot her with rifle or pistol respectively (and Castairs would be at point blank range). Castairs being nearby, could try a running grapple or punch or something. Burton is a bit further away so would struggle but might make it?

Otherwise, she will be off into the Jungle and you can try and give chase if you so wish.

Of course any other ideas or thoughts go for it.

Burton, pistol [dice]0[/dice]

Edit: I was gonna ask about RoF and reducing modifiers, but 7 is a juicy knee wound?

That works for me! A juicy knee wound can, however, be rather juicy, and not in a good way.

Combat over, rolling around in agony commences.
