IC-Ep 4-Command and Control(Salem/Newton)

[Mr. Handy]

Ship Inn - Dunwich, England
12:15 AM- Saturday, September 7, 1985

After the Brigadier and the rest of the team left, Salem Shields, Newton Noyes, and two squads of UNIT regulars remained at the Ship Inn. One group of soldiers guarded the front, one group guarded the rear, and Salem and Newton were in the restaurant where they had set up the communications center.

Newton rechecks all communication gear again, 'everything is working as it supposed to...';
Newton gazes over to Medic..
'..Mind If I go and look over to lobby boy...', Newton waits for Medic.

[Mr. Handy]

"Greyhound Two, this is Greyhound One," came the Brigadier's voice over the radio. "We're in position and holding for now. Stand by for action. Over."

"Greyhound One, this is Greyhound Two," the reply followed. "Acknowledged. Over and out."

Salem did not object, so Newton returned to the lobby, where the clerk was lying on the floor behind the counter, bound and gagged. He glared at Newton with his oversized eyes.

'...We are here for very strict and serious business and trying to disturb the silence at Inn will put you in difficult situation..' Newton looks at clerk '..and your are well aware of it by now..'
Newton goes behind counter, near to clerk, he starts searching counter, reception logs for anything suspicious..'Do you Understand?'..Newton then searches clerks' pockets..'do you follow?'..

The clerk nodded, his eyes still full of anger.

The clerk's pockets contained nothing out of the ordinary: a wallet with a handful of banknotes and a driver's license identifying the man as Brian Howard, some pocket change, a half-empty (or half-full, if you're an optimist) pack of cigarettes, and a lighter. The reception log was a little more interesting. It showed that Dr. Valerie Kirby had checked in Tuesday and checked out on Wednesday, while he knew that she had actually been kidnapped and had never left until Salem's team had rescued her. The log showed that they had checked in on Thursday and had not checked out.

"Greyhound Two, this is Greyhound One," said the Brigadier over the radio. "Go now!"

Newton moves log journal in front of clerks face, points to Dr. Kirby's log entry...'Well Brian..can you tell me anything about these entries in your log journal..I would really appreciate that..'

ooc,how do I check if someone is sneaking up on me or not?

Brian nodded once more. With his gag still in place, however, he couldn't speak.

OOC,You can make a Listen roll to try to hear someone sneaking up on you. If you're not actively listening, whoever (or whatever) is sneaking will roll Sneak. If that roll passes, you won't hear anything if you're not actively trying to listen. If it fails, however, I'll ask you for a Listen roll to determine if you hear. The same situation works in reverse if you're the one trying to be sneaky. In situations where visibility is important, Spot Hidden and Hide are used instead of Listen and Sneak, but the lobby is well lit and there is no place for anyone to hide here (other than behind the counter, which is where you and the clerk are).

Newtons rifel makes a reload sound..'I am going to let you speak, brian...keep your voice low'...Newton removes duct tape from clerks mouth.

OOC,Newton would want to roll listen to know if anyone is coming towards lobby. Listen= [dice]0[/dice]

The lobby was silent, and there was nobody creeping up on Newton. The soldiers had the entrance secure, and while there were people upstairs, none of them came down. He could even hear the chatter on the radio in the other room.

"Valerie Kirby is the young blonde lady who came here with your boss," said Brian softly. "She stayed here a few days ago."

'Did she leave room during stay at Inn, did she talked to anyone , any particular enquiry about person, place...' 'Well Brian... you need to put more effort when answering about Ms. Kirby...''Wait she was with my boss, what boss...' Newton points Rifle at clerk and literally sits down on tows in front of clerk behind counter..'Tell me more... '

[Mr. Handy]

Brian cowered away from the rifle. "Your boss," he said, slowly. "You know, the chap with the fruit salad on his chest." He described the Brigadier. "The one leading you lot. She just came in with him when you showed up and left with him when he went out. Look, I'm the night clerk, I wasn't here when she checked in, but I know she went about Dunwich during the day because she came back in the evening. I don't know what she did or who she talked to in town."

Newton stands up, 'its been nice talking with you ..Brian, I will not take much of your time now..one more thing before I leave you alone..are you willing to trade this pack of cigarettes with one more question..' newton puts cigarettes pack into clerks pocket, and steps back..'I just want to know..who were you eager to call earlier to welcome us'..'and keep it low'.

OOC,can Newton tears off reception log page with Dr. Kirby entry without any rolls at this point?

"I was about to call the police," Brian said quietly.

OOC,Yes, you can tear off the page without needing to roll anything.

'that's..fine..then I guess'..newton puts duct tape over clerks mouth..,'try to be calm and sane, while we are here..we will take care of situation upstairs or any other by ourselves..don't get yourself in any more trouble'..newton tears off reception log page with Dr. Kirby's entry and puts in his pocket, nods to guard securing clerk..'Brigadier surely needs to have first look on it..', Newton Leaves lobby to check on guards securing inn's both entrances..

The guards securing the front and rear doors were doing fine, keeping an eye out through the darkness and the pouring rain.

Newton returns to restaurant, where Salem still waiting on him..Newton sits near communication table...runs through some knobs and buttons to check all communications.. turns towards Salem...'So what you think Shields, ... since UNIT are in Dunwich now, we can surely know..Where Mr. Webb can be?'..I mean it would not have been possible to rescue Dr. Kirby without Webb, you and others...'
