Re: Chat
I've created the forum here.
The convention was a lot of fun! I got to playtest a bunch of games that are being developed and meet some game designers, including Graham Walmsley.

Re: Chat
Thanks.
I just Googled Graham Walmsley, and read a bit about A Taste for Murder--set in an English country house. It'd be fun to try out a more scripted game, like a cross between a rpg and board game.

Re: Chat
He also wrote Stealing Cthulhu, and he's posted on Yog-Sothoth.com before (he's GrahamW there).
The LARP he's developing that I helped playtest was also set at an English country house, but it wasn't scripted and was a lot more freeform. It was called "Will That Be All?" There was no murder or Mythosy stuff in it. We all played servants having a party on New Year's Eve prior to the start of 1928, 1931, and 1935 while the family who owned the house was away. There were ten different characters, with some descriptive text about each of them on a small card. I played Reggie, the gardener, who had been 52 when it started and had been there longer than anyone else. Before each act began, we each chose a card from a set of them specific to that act that had to do with our relationship with one of the other characters (who we also selected). The game was about how our relationships grew and changed over time against the backdrop of events that were happening in the world (the onset of the Great Depression, the rise of fascism, and the threat of war). It was really moving, and very reminiscent of Downton Abbey and Upstairs, Downstairs.

Re: Chat
That does sound cool. I do enjoy all the below stairs shenanigans of a country house, although weirdly I've never watched Downton Abbey. I watched Gosford Park recently, it's a decent film, and depicts servants and there "betters" excellently.
Re: Chat
I saw Gosford Park when it first came out, and again much later on TV. I don't remember it too well, as it's been years since the last time I saw it. I do remember that my parents thought it was too long. One of the people involved in Gosford Park was also behind Downton Abbey. I think it might have been Julian Fellowes.

Re: Chat
I can watch Downton for free on Amazon Prime, one evening, when I have nothing to watch, I'll try-out season 1 episode 1.
Re: Chat
We love Downton, and are already halfway through series 2!

New preview: haven't read it yet, but I thought it looked very intriguing. https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/n ... -together/ When the time comes to play, I'm gonna randomly pick one of the new investigators.

Re: Chat
"Jealous" emoticon. Most modern culture is American (if board games can be called culture). I should get my copy next week, but it's to be a gift so I can't open it till Xmas day. On the flip side I've watched series 6 of Downton. We ploughed through 'em all, series 1-6, and really enjoyed it--looking forward to the finale on the 25th.

Re: Chat
My local game store should get it in next week. Going to ask for it for Christmas.
Re: Chat
I won't have time to play it until after then either, and it will actually be next year. I still haven't had a chance to play with Mountains of Madness or Strange Remnants either, except on this board.
I'm looking forward to Season 6 of Downton Abbey too, though we won't see it here until January. I've watched the first five seasons already, so I'm ready for it. It's a shame it's the last season, but it'll still be good to see.
I also saw the new episodes of Luther last night on BBC America, and of course the Doctor Who Christmas special is coming up in about a week.
