Background: Liz Penhaligon stands at a little over five feet tall and weighs about 100 pounds, with brown hair and a cute smile. On her back, she has a tattoo of a majestic black dragon, its wingspan stretching between her shoulder blades. She can be somewhat shy, more comfortable around robots than with her fellow humans. She is a consummate nerd and proud of it, and she has a quirky sense of humor and insatiable curiosity. She grew up around computers and has a natural talent with them. She is also very observant and is usually alert to her surroundings. She tries to be cheerful even in the face of the horrors of the world, but her goofiness is a shield she uses to insulate herself from them. When she is alone, she sometimes breaks down and cries.

Liz's parents were from London, and they were friends even as small children. When her grandparents became aware that war was imminent between the UK and Germany in the 1960s, they evacuated their children to Dublin, Ireland, where both families had relatives. Her parents spent the rest of their childhood there, and it was obvious that they would one day get married when they grew up. Liz was born to them in 1990. After she completed her education, she went to work in a robotics factory.

Liz chafes under the oppression of the Reich and has always wished for freedom, and she was determined to use her talents to do something about it. She became an elite hacker known as The Dragon, and for years she has been a thorn in the Reich's side. She is able to penetrate secure systems with ease to access sensitive information, plant viruses, and sabotage the Reich's systems at every turn. Though a large price was placed on her head, she remained elusive for a long time, carefully covering her tracks. The Gestapo created a task force dedicated to tracking her down, but their assumption that The Dragon was male hampered their efforts considerably.

One night while Liz slept in her flat, the Gestapo launched a massive raid, bursting in without warning. Already groggy from sleep and taken by surprise, Liz was stunned by a flashbang grenade, which rendered her helpless as they seized her. Liz never found out how they had finally caught her. Maybe she hadn't been as careful as she had thought just one time, perhaps someone had informed on her for the reward money, or someone who knew her secret might have been caught and named her after being broken under interrogation.

Liz suffered a harrowing interrogation at the hands of the Gestapo. She was unprepared to withstand torture, but she was determined not to betray her friends in the hacking community. She endured as long as she could, but in the end it became too much to bear. She confessed to being The Dragon, and she gave them information that she was certain that they already knew thanks to her earlier hacking efforts - even Gestapo networks hadn't been safe from her prying eyes. When the Gestapo were ultimately - and erroneously - convinced that she had told them all she knew, they sent her to a prison camp in the UK, there to be used up bit by bit until she was worked to death. However, Liz is a survivor, and she is more resolved than ever to win her freedom. She feels that she has already gone through the worst, and she will never give up hope.

Background
Frog is a young skinny kid, barely into puberty. He lives and survives on his wits and skills to steal food and scrounge up what he can.

Unsure what happened to his parents - he has no memory of his father and the last thing he remembers of his mother is of her being dragged away in the middle of the night when he was about 10 years old - he has scratched out a living as fetcher and a runner, learning to run and hide, steal and bargain. He secretly believes that one day he and his mother will be reunited, though he rarely allows himself to acknowledge this hope or dream.

His instinct for survival has made him naturally wary of everyone - even those that purport to be his friend.

Sixteen months ago, whilst on a 'job' breaking into a German warehouse to steal clothes, he slipped from the 2nd story balcony and fell badly, smashing his cheek bone, nose and losing the majority of his front teeth. Unconscious, he was easily apprehended by the guards and now finds himself doing jail time.

Frog is a feisty character, with plenty of lip and self-belief. He relies on his speed and slight frame to get his body out of the trouble his mouth often lands him.

Perpetually cheerful demeanor and a head full of encyclopedic knowledge of everything from chemistry to botany(1), and a bad habit of making poor jokes involving body parts. Dr. Crawford (3) is a medical researcher studying the biology of various mutated flora and fauna that somehow adopted to the irradiated wasteland of United Kingdom. She hopes to perfect the radiation resistance drug by figuring out how these creatures survive and thrive even in radioactive environment.

Cheerful and ditzy doesn't mean clumsy, naive, or even kind, however. This doctor knows everything she needs to survive out in the wasteland by herself. She knows her way around rifles and guns and shows no qualm about shooting and killing those who she deems "deserves it," (2) an increasingly widening group in the UK. Her dream is to strap a live ghoul or a super mutant to her operating table in her old rented lab in Churchilltown and vivisect (4) it to figure out how their internal organs continue to function despite horrendous mutations and high radiation. She has been unlucky in this regard so far, as nobody was willing to risk capturing one of these creatures alive and carry them all the way back to Churchillstown. She also wishes for a chance to study and find employment in the USNA, where she may be able to find better equipment.

She is usually kindly towards people down on their luck and may even provide free medical service if she has spare medication, an increasingly rare commodity, around.

She has old and also cheery parents who live in London, who is very proud of their daughter.

(1): And radiology, biology, naturalism, most German Psuedosciences, and singing.
(2): Mostly composed of people who personally slighted her in some way.
(3): She has never actually been licensed a doctor, but people call her a doctor anyways.
(4): She has been practicing how to do so for a long time on some captured beasts from the wastelands.
