IC Ch 8: Off to Visit the Church

The creature falls to the ground, the bullet striking true.

"I'm a terrible shot," says Col. Hall.

"That's okay, I got this one," says Eddie. He leans against a stack of crates and tries to bind his claw wound.

Alyssa absent-mindedly slips Col. Hall's pistol into her jacket pocket. She splashes over to Eddie, and turns her back to the dead thing.

"Well done, Officer!" she compliments. "You're wounded, Eddie, let me try . . ." she tears a strip from the hem of her blouse--"It's ruined anyway"--and attempts to bind the claw mark.

First Aid 30% [dice]0[/dice]

She is very clumsy in the attempt: "I'm no Florence Nightingale!"

Col Hall continues, "That's Okay I got this one." He leans against the wall, his eyes staring off into nothing, "Well done officer." then after Alyssa speaks again, "You're wounded Eddie, let me try..." his voice trailing off into a mumble. "It's ruined anyway."

Scott steps up to the wounded police officer. "You can't just jam cloth in there, oh geez, step back." He opens his backpack where he has his first aid kit.

"My god that should have worked." Eddie looks confounded, "I've seen a lot of wounds in my time, but nothing like this."

Aunt Loosa seeing that Eddie is being tended to moves over to Col. Hall

She steps in front of him, looking into his eyes, seeing the distant look there and listening to him repeat and mumble that last phrases he'd heard.

Is he possessed or just stunned at seeing that creature? she ponders to herself.

She lifts her hand, waves it infront of his eyes and then suddenly slaps him firmly across the jowl.

OOC,Can she determine whether he is entranced/possessed (Occult roll?) or whether this is just shock at seeing the creature (Psychology/Medicine roll?)

"Perhaps I can be of assistance," says Norman, examining Eddie. "I read a few Scout publications in my time."

Aunt Loosa,make an occult roll and a Psych roll

As Aunt Loosa looksat the Colonel and gives him a slap, there is no response at all.

"Perhaps I can be of assissss..." the colonel mumbles, "I read a few scort publliss timeee...."

[Mr. Handy]

"Thank you, Alyssa," says Eddie, smiling at her as he applies pressure to his wound. "And thank you for trying. I don't know what that thing was exactly, but its claws sure hurt. Maybe it was that creature Aunt Loosa saw in the water when we were in the boat. Maybe she can help stop the bleeding once she's done with the Colonel."

"I'm sure she can stop the bleeding," says Alyssa. "What was the thing doing I wonder? And should we search it? she means one of the men to do it.

Aunt Loosa,You are 100% positive it is not occult but totally psychology related. Sorry you wasted the roll of a 1 on that.

Col. Hall continues to mumble but is not completely incoherent.

Eddie's bleeding is "stopped" but no one made a successful first aid roll, so the injury is still very much there. You just are not getting any worse.

The creature is not wearing any clothes, and not carrying anything.

Norman glares at the colonel offended, thinking he was being insulted. "Good sir, I don't appreciate the mockery. "

[Mr. Handy]

"It's some sort of fishman," says Eddie, reloading his revolver in case it has friends who heard the shots. "Tougher than a man, but it wasn't tough enough."

OOC,I was hoping [b]Aunt Loosa[/b] could try a First Aid roll, as she hasn't tried yet and she has it at a decent level.

"Fisherman's Friends," muses Alyssa, smiling to herself at the thought and also smiling for the first time this night. "What's next, Eddie?--carry on down the tunnel?

"I believe Col. Hall to be temporarily deranged, Mr. Smith," she calls to Norman, "don't take offence. In fact, we should help him." Alyssa takes Col. Hall by the hand, and then--at a loss of what to do--gives him a hug.

[Mr. Handy]

"Yeah, we keep moving forward once we're all ready," replies Eddie. "We've come this far, we might as well see what's past here. Maybe someone who's quieter than I am should scout ahead."

[Papa Gateau]

Aunt Loosa turns to Alyssa Yes dear, it seems the sight of that sea creature has unhinged the poor colonel, there doesn't appear to be anything more to it than that

She looks at Eddie casting an appraising eye over his poorly tended wound and grimaces How are you Eddie? That wound looks nasty even after everyone's ministrations, would you like me to look at it? We don't want it getting infected.

ooc/Aunt Loosa,Eddie certainly wants her to try First Aid, everyone else did a P.P.J.

"Yes, please do," says Eddie, letting her look at his wound. "It hurts pretty bad, but I think I'll live...as long as I don't run into any more of these things."

Aunt Loosa unwraps the poorly tied dressings, cleans the wound again and applies some ointments and new dressings from her apothecary's bag.

There you go dear, that should feel better - the wound probably feels worse than it looks - you'll have a nice new scar to impress the young ladies with!

By the time Aunt Loosa is finished, it has been almost 15 mins since the fire fight. Col Hall is coming out of his shock.

"What the hell happened? I've... I've never had that happen to me before. Maybe this is a game for the young at heart?" he says. "I thought this was all just people in robes, but I see now it is far more than I am prepared for. You have a safe place at the Hall if you need it, but you will have to do this part without me I am afraid."
