IC Ch 8: Off to Visit the Church

"We are in uh, what amounts to enemy territory," says Norman. "The longer we stay here the more likely we are to be noticed by the cult. I would prefer doing something now rather than waiting and risking the chance that more cultists show up".

Richard says "I am for opening the door I agree that there is clearly air on the otherside if we can hear the waves hitting the door, we might get wet but we shouldnt be flooded"

Warren nods.

"We can't just stand here dithering," he says. "Robert is right. Let's open the blasted door."

Warren walks through the group and up to the hatch, grabbing the hatch door. "Train the gun and the flashlight on the opening. Be ready to react."

He glances back at the group.

"Everyone ready?"

"I wanted to stay with Aunt Loosa, Col. Hall--not that she particularly needs the company," explains Alyssa, "it's just that she doesn't want to climb any more ladders unnecessarily. There's a consensus to open that door, so let's do it."

OOC:   BTW Mr. Handy is away for the weekend.

You open the door that swings out away from you. You see another small cave with a large opening and sunshine is coming through that opening. The cave is about knee deep in water and comes up to the bottom of the hatch. As a wave rolls in from outside a smaller wave is created rolls to the opening and about 6 inches of the wave crests over and into your half of the cave.

From your vantage point you can see some boats out on the water.

You can see some fishermen and what looks like day sailors out in the bay.

"Well this isn't the way that cultist came" says Richard as he looks around the room he is in.

[Mr. Handy]

"Let's first get a fix on where this cave is by taking a look outside," suggests Eddie. "Then we'll seal the hatch again, climb down the ladder, and continue along the tunnel. He must have gone that way if he didn't go out the hatch."

A couple of you climb out onto the rocks outside. Its in the middle of the day and you are in the middle of the bay.

To the South you can see Bradley Wharf. To the North East (the direction the unexplored tunnel leads) you can see Granite Wharf where the quarries all ship their granite out from.

You notice the crew from one of the boats is looking at you. The rocks aren't very tall and in full tide maybe covered up.

Alyssa waves to the fishermen, "Cooeee!" she calls, like she is greeting them from the porthole of a ship.
"They've already seen us," she says, by way of explaining her wave and call; "I wonder what they can tell us?"

You see them turn their boat out to see and start sailing away.

"Not very friendly, are they?" Norman sniffs. "But uh, the officer is correct. We should explore the tunnel."

[Mr. Handy]

"Yeah, we'd better get back down there before anyone else sees us," says Eddie. "We don't know which locals we can trust."

"Hmmm, not very friendly at all, Mr. Smith! Maybe they're wary of creatures on these rocks," states Alyssa. Is there anything to note, like paths or unusual rocks?

Richard says "I think we should go back to the tunnel while we still can"

Yes, I think you're right, Mr. Dahl," says Alyssa.
