The Library is a medium sized wooden building painted white.

When you enter, you see a couple other people sitting in the library and it appears to be a normal library.

You see what could be a help desk, you see a man in his mid 30's, bright red-orange hair and is reading through a book very fast.

After the awkward exchange at the wharf, it had left Alyssa feeling withdrawn and reserved. She watched her party without context try to breach private property, then thrown to the wolves, and was the silly one to ask why, like she had told a bad joke. "Morning sir," Alyssa approaches the front desk. "We're interested in any kind of astronomy books, constellation charts, celestial maps."

Without even looking up, the gentleman points towards the shelves and says, "Aisle Five should have what you need."

Without expressing any thanks, Alyssa makes her way to aisle five.

You find a book of constellations. Inside a page shows several star maps with all the constellations, in it. You have a hard time finding a match.

Aunt Loosa takes Alyssa by the arm and accompanies her to the indicated aisle.

As she does so she says in a quiet voice Don't worry dear, it's just the way of men folk. They're all bluster and importance, none more so than when they are frightened, confused or both she gives her an encouraging smile Don't let them get to you - they can't help it, it's their nature. she reaches into her bag and brings out her sketch of the constellation Now dear - let's see what can find out about this little mystery

You go through every constellation in the book, and fail to find a match to the constellation in your drawing.

You find another book, and again, nothing.

"Thank you Aunt Loosa" as Alyssa plays along, amusing herself in this fiction as she looks on into the book with a smile. The time spent together walking with Aunt Loosa, reminded Alyssa of one of the coloured nuns back in the orphanage and how they spent their time walking.

[sub]"Sister Jordan how come you talk how niggers talk do?"
"What do you mean?"
"You talk like books talk do to kids at home but to other colour folks you..."
"What if I talked white-folks' talk with my neighbours? They'd think I'm not playing for the home team."
[/sub]
In that walk, young Alyssa would repeatedly say with each syllable receiving it's full measure, 'jus' spittin' in the wind,' the entire lap. It was comprehension beyond her age till now.

Alyssa admired Aunt Loosa even more, and wished she'd be as half as lovely and composed as her one day. This double life, this double consciousness which Alyssa could relate but could hardly imagine being coloured: always seeing oneself through the eyes of another, of measuring one soul by the tape of a world that looks on in amused novelty and objectivity. Alyssa could only imagine what's it like being a woman for Aunt Loosa, to feel one's two-ness: an American, an Negro. Two thoughts, two souls, two unreconciled strivings, two warring ideals in one dark body, whose dogged strength alone keeps it from being torn asunder. And this, Alyssa wanted to be more Alyssa in every sense that intrinsically belonged to her nature, and nothing apart from her shall ascribe without her knowing.

OOC,Only 1 of you needed roll. Same result.
It has been about 1 hour since you left the barge. If you wanted to be back at low tide, you still have 1 more hour, so you can do some more research.

Alyssa frowns at the prospect, "while we're still here, we can look into the history of Rockport deeper in the meantime. A shame we don't have much clues to follow on."

You spend the next hour looking for city history, but all you find is what you have already found.

Disappointed at the lack of success at the library, Allysa and Aunt Loosa head back to the wharf.

You arrive at the wharf on your motorcycle at the same time as the others in the Oldsmobile.

Go to this thread here.

I will leave this thread open for a bit, if you want to do any role playing or anything besides actual research.
