"I believe that those two men are doing precisely that, sir," says Sister Katherine. "The last I saw them, they were still investigating the area while the two of us went to the hospital with the poor wretched soul we found with your son. I could see that your son was killed by a blow to the head with a large, flat, blunt object, most likely a shovel. At least his passing must have been mercifully swift, and he is with the Lord now. As to this strange man we found alive in the hole, he seemed not to be himself and had a strange manner of speech. From his mumblings, it was hard to understand him, but he seemed to believe that he was Henry Atwater."

"What do you mean, alive in the hole with my son? We must make haste to see this person at once to see if we can learn anything from him. I cannot believe that I employ two professionals and wind up having to do the work myself This is outrag ... " Herbert Cardigan clutches his chest as he stands and pitches forward, his face turning pale and clammy as he crashes to the floor.

Katherine rushes to Herbert Cardigan's side and kneels down beside him. She tries to help him, but nothing she does seems to work.
OOC,Can I still try a Medicine roll?

Calming down and taking a longer look, Katherine realizes exactly what's wrong with Herbert Cardigan and how to treat him. "I can keep him stable, Sharon," says Katherine. "Call for an ambulance, please." She works as if divinely inspired.
OOC,Woohoo! 8-) Critical success!

Sister Katherine applies the Silvester Method of resuscitation, by raising his arms above his head and his chest compressed sixteen times per minute, to the unconscious form of Herbert Cardigan. After about 40 compressions (2 1/2 minutes) he splutters and regains consciousness. though when he tries to sit up you push him back down and tell him to rest awhile. After a short period, a medical team arrive and Herbert along with Sharon and Sr Katherine are taken back to the hospital where he is treat for having suffered a mild heart attack. he is taken straight to a private ward where he receives the best treatment Arkham can offer.

OOC,what are you doing now girls?

"Perhaps we should find the fellows and compare notes with them," suggests Katherine. "But where would they be right now?"

Sharon replies...
"Well the last time we saw them they were still at the campsite talking about doing something or other in the river, then they were going to accompany my Brother to the morgue ... maybe they are still there.
I would like to thank you very much Sister for what you have just done for my Father ... you saved his life and I am so grateful to you."

"You're quite welcome," says Katherine with a smile. "All of the credit and glory should go to God, however. He put me in the right place at the right time, and He gave my hands the skill they needed. I didn't know what to do at first, but I was able to succeed when I let Him guide me. I'm so relieved that your father will be all right. Hmm...the gentlemen must be done at the river by now, so we should go to the morgue if you're up to it. Even if they've tarried, they're still bound to show up there."

Posted in DeeJ61's absence - been away a few days now and I feel the story is stalling. I know she has been having problems registering with Invisible Castle.

Sharon nods and looks at the Sister with tearful eyes ... "Thank you so much Sister, I don't know what I would have done had you not been there. I was frozen to the spot and my father would have surely expired. Perhaps his time is not yet due, I don't know. As for the boys," she adds with a sniff as she tries to re-compose herself, "They'll be off having some adventure or other no doubt while we wait at the morgue for them."

"I'm just glad I was able to help, Sharon," says Katherine. "You are right, it was not his time. No doubt the fellows are off on some adventure, as you say. In that case, it's even more important to visit the morgue. We can make good use of the time rather than waiting around for them to show up. I'll understand if you don't want to go, but my medical skills may be useful there."

"No ... that's alright!" Sharon replies. "I will come with you, I feel I need to do this, hopefully I will find my dear Brother looking more at peace than the last time I saw him. You're right ... we should go now and make use of the time we have ... as you say, with your medical skills maybe you will be able to fathom out something of what happened to my Brother."

OOC,I though that the original plan was for you all to meet up at the asylue it is ladies.

As you descend to the morgue which is located in the hospital basement, which is along a long dark corridor. Sister Katherine strides bravely through the puddles which have formed due to the almost constant dripping leaks. She obviously knows where she is going and as you both arrive at the mortuary door, you see that although the door is closed, there is something going on (Listen Rolls please @ +15%)

While Katherine is not an eavesdropper by nature, she cannot help but overhear what is going on beyond the door.

A loud wail of anguish issues from the mortuary and there is the sound of doors banging and suddenly a young man, aged age about his mid twenties comes crashing out and stalks down the corridor wailing noisily. The door opens and there before you is your friend Terrence Hepplewhite who assists in the mortuary. "Oh Hi there Sister Katherine." he intones in his thin nasal voice. "Another upset customer, one of the not so good sides of the job as you know. I take it you have come to us for a reason, Why don't you come in Sister"

As you move to go in he sees Sharon for the first time.

"Thank you, Mr. Hepplewhite," says Katherine with a ready smile. "I'd think that most of your 'customers' would be in no condition to complain - though of course their families have good reason to be upset, which is what I know you meant. Speaking of which, this is Miss Sharon Cardigan, the sister of the deceased. Sharon, this is Mr. Terrence Hepplewhite, the assistant coroner."

"Ah the on ... sorry the deceased from beside the River. We have him scheduled for the third autopsy tomorrow morning so unfortunately there is nothing I can really tell you at present other than to come back sometime after lunch, say mid afternoon to be safe. If you had to pin me down on a preliminary diagnosis, and this is simply based on what I see'd when they brought him in, was that he died as a result of a massive blunt force strike to the left hand side of his parietal lobe... sorry the back of his skull." Hepplewhite seems nervous but asks Sharon "Miss Cardigan, my deepest condolences on your sad loss. Are you aware of any family illnesses or broken bones he has suffered in the past. Has he ever suffered from blackouts or anything of this nature that you are aware of?"

"I noticed when I found him that the blunt object was flat," Katherine adds. "I think it may have been a shovel, which could have also been used to dig the hole. I wonder if one turned up."

"Hello Mr Hepplewhite, I'm not aware of any illnesses that run in the family. I know he had the usual childhood things like measles, chicken pox, etc. and I do recall a story being told to me by my Father, of my Brother climbing an apple tree, climbing too high to get the biggest apples and consequently falling out, which resulted in a broken arm, errm ... the left I believe and a very badly twisted Ankle."
Sharon stands thinking for a while ...
"No Mr Hepplewhite ... other than that I do believe he was quite healthy." Sharon confirms.
