Day Three

Post by Cearlan »

The party meets up as arranged the following morning as you would have arranged the previous night - either at a coffee shop or somesuch - your call.

Having read and digested the contents of Sorrell's safe and the folder with all the loose papers, as well as David holding onto the idol. Are you all heading to the police station after reviving yourselves with a fine brew?

"I think at least some of us should go see Lt. O'Grady and fill him in on what we've learned so far," says David. "I'll be part of that group."

We wanted to check the cemetery as well and see if there are new findings in the morgue.

Ok then you go to the police station and speak to Lt O'Grady. His responses, as suggested below, suggests that he is torn between having you all committed for being insane or throwing you out of his office for wasting his time.

"I've never heard so much drivel in my entire life ... I never trusted you lot up at the University - too far removed from reality ... I had hoped that you would give me some evidence of a conspiracy from a criminal, but here you are with your stories that could be taken direct from penny dreadfuls by the looks of it. To say I'm disappointed is a severe understatement. The only things you have shown me is that Sorrell was as mad as you lot are."

"I assure you, everything I said to you is the truth," says David, radiating credibility. "Would you rather I had lied to you? I didn't want to believe it myself. It sounds bizarre, but the facts are what they are. I cannot explain it yet, but given time we will get to the bottom of this. Remember, we've only just started this investigation."

Lt O'Grady seems a little mollified by David's response - but only a little. "I guess I did ask you to keep me informed as and when you uncovered anything, which you have but I am watching your investigation closely, and expect to be kept informed regularly and as soon as possible of any developments, if not earlier. Do I make myself clear? Now get out of my office and keep digging," he adds as he glares each of you in turn.
OOC:   As an aside - Mr Handy - how do you 'compress a roll' into, using your example "radiating credibility"? Seen it done a lot of times but never been able to figure it out - old dog and new tricks I guess ;-)

"We'll get right on it, and we'll keep you in the loop," says David, leading the way out.

Where to now people?

The streets of downtown Providence are sodden as rain starts to fall and the wind blows in heavy gusts off the Atlantic coast, bringing a salt tang to the air that is normally only noticed down by the beaches, the docksides and fish quays in the harbour.

OOC,I thought we were in Providence, though going to Arkham is probably a good idea considering that we have some leads there.

"Perhaps a trip to Arkham is in order, at least for some of us," says David. "I'd like to see what that key opens, and we could also visit the hotel where Martin stayed. And Miskatonic University's library is an excellent resource."

Jemima, David and Joseph all head to Arkham. I'll assume the rest of the party follows suit as there have not been any posts for a while from their players.
