Act Va: 'Deeper in'

In Leagues of Adventure the characters are all middle and upper class Victorians who go on wild adventures in response to wagers, handsome payments from rich patrons, invitations from adventuring leagues, or
simply out of sheer boredom. Opportunities abound to thwart dastardly deeds, discover lost cities, mingle with new cultures, and plumb the darkest depths of the globe.

Horatio Wellington

Wellington consults the map as Miss Bly and Klevendon ascend the iron rungs set into the tunnel wall.

"It only took the Clawasauras moments to get to us after attacking those poor workmen, we ought to be able to get to them shortly... aha! If we backtrack and take the left fork we should be there." he traces the route with his finger and sets off the way the creature had come.

'If Hawthorne's egg was delivered then it stands to reason that there ought to be another fully grown one of those monstrosities, however probably not in the sewers ... and then there's the 'juvenile' creature to locate.. there's definitely two interlocking puzzles here...'

"I say old chap... have you any notion of where one of those things came from... he says continuing along the tunnel "Perhaps there's been a recently returned expedition, one from somewhere suitably exotic and remote?" he asks.

Wellington follows Roxborough one eye on the device he borrowed from Klevendon

"hmm, no expeditions come to mind eh... I suppose we can deal with the origin of the creature after the matter in hand.."

Roxborough, displaying the tracking skills that have made him the talk of ladies dressing rooms and dining areas in equal measure, quickly finds marks allowing him to backtrail the creature.
It is not long before you find the remains of the unfortunate sewer worker. From there tracking the creature firther into the tunnels becomes a routine matter for the noted hunter.

For what seems hours you continue to search, but if there was another 'Clawasoraus', as Klevendon had named it, Roxborough can find no trace of it. Nor can he find any evidence of Hawthorne's basilisk. Whatever it was it had literaly disapeared within the maze of the sewer system.

Deciding that they've spent enough time trying to find any traces of another creature Wellington decides to call a halt to their search.

"We should head back to where we left the carcass; We have not found any indications of another creature ... do you concur?" he asks Roxborough

Roxborough nods his head slowly in agreement.

Yes, yes - I concur, the trail has most definitely gone cold the disappointment in his voice is almost palpable.

OOC:   I can't think of anything else we can accomplish down here. All we can do is traipse back to where the creatures' corpse is and meet up with the law.... agreed?

OOC:   Rather than spend time detailing your return to the scene of the creatures demise, your finding of the others and representatives of the police force, and having to explain everything to them.
