IC: Ch 6e: Down at the Occult Shop

The old Corbitt house is shrouded in dark rumours and fearful whispers. Its past residents have all had grisly experiences in there, and the few which are able to speak of it will not. Now, pulled in by the promise of money, several investigators try to to find the house's dark secret.

IC: Ch 6e: Down at the Occult Shop

Post by BenTheRat »

As you go back to the occult shop, Jordie skims through the book. It is some basic notes almost too much information to take in at once. It has years worth of notes in it. Each entry has a date and then the chapels business. The majority is about who they need money for this or that.
.
it will take you several days to read the whole book.

Jordie taps the small journal, drawing Charles's attention, "This isn't no Sunday charity work here. This here is the bankbook of all their budgets," with vigour in Jordie's eyes and bright animation in her voice and posture, flipping the pages in her hand in fervour motion.

As they arrived at the Occult Shop, Jordie steps out of the car and stows away the bankbook.
OOC,Is the weather still incredibly cold?
The other children cheered him on. His name voiced in a steadily rising pace, urging him to do it. “Am I really doing this?”, the young boy thought and struck his victim with a rock.

Jordie grips the breast of her coat to her face, fighting the biting cold wind away as she trudges towards the magic shop, hoping her money won't disappear into card tricks.

"I'm happy to help take a look, if you like," says Charles. "I'm trained in accounting. I could probably get through it a little quicker and understand more or less what kind of sums we're talking about." As he steps out of the car, he gives a shiver. Whether it's from the cold or the thought of what might be going on back at the Museum, he's not sure.

Jordie, its not a ledger. Its just a journal. It has a date, then what was basically discussed in that meeting. There are about 2-3 entries per week.

Entering into the Occult Shop and holding the door behind for Charles, Jordie fixes her disheveled hair as she begins to absorb the atmosphere of the bizarre decor and ornaments.
OOC,Oh, well I guess that's just as good too.

"Afternoon kind sir," Jordie saunters towards the front counter, "I think I might have something special you might like," Jordie pulls out the unusual ornate knife, and places it on the counter, "Is this perhaps Pognus of the one who cannot be named?"
The other children cheered him on. His name voiced in a steadily rising pace, urging him to do it. “Am I really doing this?”, the young boy thought and struck his victim with a rock.

"The clerk looks at it for a minute, well that doesn't look like the one we looked up in the book yesterday? Not sure what scam you're trying to pull, but that's not no Pognus or whatever you want to call it." He replies.

Ben,Charles looks carefully around the store for anything that might be similar in style or design to the altars he saw in the pit.

"That's okay," the stroke of bad luck hasn't dampen Jordie's spirit. Jordie pulls out a pen and notepad from her pocket, and begins drawing 3 'Y' shaped letters, forming a triangle and adding an eye in the middle. "Does this ring any bells?" As Jordie slides the paper across the counter.
The other children cheered him on. His name voiced in a steadily rising pace, urging him to do it. “Am I really doing this?”, the young boy thought and struck his victim with a rock.

"Thanks for your time," Jordie walks away from the counter, a little upset leaving empty handed. Jordie approaches Charles, "Window shopping?"

Charles shrugs, irritated at not having found anything. "Now what? Back to whatever's left of the Museum after they opened that book? Or do you have any better ideas?"

As you leave the shop and go up the stairs to the street, you see Sonny and Michael pull up in a car in front of the house.

Charles waves to the two getting out of the car and approaches. "Hey, there. What happened at the Museum?" he asks, his tone betraying his anxiety.
