As Michael and Sonny make their way into the police station they see a generic station. A sergeant is sitting behind a counter attached to the lobby.
There are several wooden chairs around the lobby, with a couple people there. One is reading a paper, the other has his hat down over his eyes and seems to be napping.

"Ok Mickey, I'll take my lead from you. I think you're more comfortable in the John's Clubhouse than me"

"How you doing Sargeant?" says Michael with a grin, "Say, you know where I can find Constable O'Mallory?"

Keeper,I'm obviously inventing this NPC that likely worked the beat with Michael - up to you if he's around or not

"Hey there Mikey", the sargeant replies. "I think he's in, why don't you go on back." You hear a buzzing noise that you know means he's unlocking the door to where the detectives are at.

"Hi there sargeant, I'm with Michael, it's okay if I go through with him? add Sonny

"Yea, go ahead." The sergeant says not even looking up.

When you go through the door you enter into a hallway. A double door open across from where you came through has a bunch of desks in there and several people in there typing. A couple in uniforms, but most in street clothes. You see O'Mallory sitting at one of them typing.

Hi ya Pat Michael says, moving over to O' Mallory and clapping him on the shoulder "How ya doin? How's Roisin and the kids?"

He swaps pleasantries with his old friend for a few minutes before lowering his voice "Hey buddy, I need a couple of favours - think you can help an old friend out? Nothing too serious - just a bit of good old honest police work. Think me and my friend Sonny can spend some time in the archives room?"

"How you doing Michael?" he swaps pleasentries, then "You know you're not supposed to go down there. You aint on the beat no more."

OOC,Roll a fast talk (50%) roll for Michael, you can also jump in with a fast talk roll as well or if you want to try an bribe him, you could use a bargain roll.

"Come on Pat - do your old pal a favour will ya, things have been tough and I got a sweet little case that's actually going to pay me some decent money and and see the landlord straight for the next coupla months, you know I wouldn't ask if I didn't have too. We'll be quiet as church mice - just need to check out a couple of leads"

"Yea, let me take you on down." He gets up and walks you down and opens the door for you. "But if someone catches you, I didn't bring you down here."

"Appreciate it bud."

Michael palms a few bucks into his friends hand with a wink and heads downstairs into the archives.

"Ok Sonny, lets split up and see what we can find. Anything on Corbitt, those lawsuits or that weird church Charles mentioned."

When Pat has closed the door and they are alone, Michael briefly explains the filing system and how the case notes work. "I'll see what I can find on the Church of Contemplation and maybe anything in reference to the house address, you see what can you dig up on Corbitt and the albino Tom Lawrence or Law"

"Sure thing" replies Sonny.

edit - welcome back, I'll edit my post and remove your dice rolls seeing as we posted together.

OOC,wow that is some great rolling, 2 critical successes. Here is what I'm going to do to speed things up a bit. This will take you till 5 pm, and I'll just tell you everything you find betwen now and then. Hope you didn't mind us doing a bit for you there Muchinator.

You go through the files pretty thoroughly, and while its been a few years, you take back to it like riding a bycicle.

On Corbitt, you don't find anything.
.
On the lawsuits, they were civil suits so its not surprising you wouldn't have much here, though the police were called a couple times to the address to investigate weird chanting, and 2 cases of a missing pets where they blamed Corbitt. These were all used as evidence in the lawsuit to force him to move.

On the chappel, this one is weird. You find the file, there is a court order search warrant for the chappel in an investigation into missing children. And an annoymous tip said they heard a girl scream inside the church. When you arrived, backups were called as a huge gun battle ensued, drawing several civilians from the surrounding neighborhood. Some of them with some of the missing children. (no names are listed)
During the gun fight 3 police officers were killed. Then there was an explosion inside the church that started a fire and you were able to get the people out of the church (no children) 54 people were arrested. 17 others were dead (no cause of death listed).

Tom Lawrence aka Tom Law: For Tom he has a short rap sheet for burglary, robbery, loitering and a charge of general mischief. A note on his file lists him as a vagrant and homeless. But nothing in the last 2 years. His last known address is listed as a park bench in one of the city parks.

Sonny is pretty exhausted by the day in the archive room, having to work quietly and methodically - book work isn't really his thing. It's pushing on and his stomach is growling and he just want's to leave the cop-shop and go somewhere a little less intimidating.

As you finish your notes on what you found and repack the files you hear someone outside the door.

OOC,I'm assuming the archive is fairly large room with rows and rows of shelving stacked with boxes and files of case notes?

"Shit" Sonny whisper-shouts at Michael "there's someone at the door" he moves away from the door, deeper into the room and ducks down one of the rows of dusty files.

You hear the door open just as you duck behind a shelf out of sight. Then "hey Jim, we got a call, we need to roll."
Then closer to you,"ok, hey anyone in here".
And the door shuts.

"This shit is getting weirder and weirder Sonny" says Michael through a hushed whisper as he hides behind a file cabinet.

Michael peeks out to see if the door is still closed. If so, he makes his way over and opens it a sliver to peek outside.

"We gotta get this information back to the gang. Wait, does it say on those reports where this supposed chapel was?"

You look in the file and the address on the warrant says #6 Hale St.

As you go to the door, you don't hear anything outside of it. There is a frosted glass on the door and you don't see any shadows on the other side of it. You go to open the door a sliver and realize it has been locked.

"Ah shee-it" Sonny curses. He looks around for another exit hoping to find a window or a ventilation grate.

You see small windows running around the room, up near the roof. They are not very tall, but you and Michael are pretty small. You might fit.

"So Michael can you pick locks? Or do we need to squeeze through one of these windows?" Sonny looks around the room, trying to work which window will open on an alleyway, rather than right in front of the police station.

"thi sis your old haunt, which window will give us the most cover? I don't really want to be caught by your old friends while climbing outta here!"

Michael checks the door and the lock and pulls out a few small tools. "Let me give this a try, a good PI is always prepared."

OOC,Make a locksmith roll for Michael its 45%. Papa you can roll for him if you would. Just trying to wrap this thread up, everyone else is done.

"Damn, they must have upgraded the locks here. That window should lead to an alley, not sure we can get through it though, thats a tight squeeze." Michael says.

OOC window,If you want to try to squeeze through the windows, its a size check. But smaller is better so what you actually have to do is take 20 - size * 5%. so 6 = 70%, 8 = 60% chance. If you fail you will probably get stuck. Good thing both of you guys are little. ;)

Sonny reaches up and grabs at the window catch and opens it, he pulls himself up and manages to squeeze himself through.

As you climb out, it is a small alley. You reach your arm in but Michael is hesitating.

OOC Michael,Mouchinator make a decision by this evening or I'll jump in.

As you kneel down to look through the window you hear a voice from behind you, "Hey there, what do you think you're doing?" As you peer back, you can see a cop in uniform at the end of the alley way about 30-40 feet away.

Michael has not attempted to climb out yet, so you don't think the cop knows Michael is there.

In a forced whisper "Michael hide, I got a flat foot up here" and then in a louder voice "You in there Dotty? Come here, come on girl, where are you?" he whistles as if calling to a dog.

Sonny gets to his feet and calls again "Where are you Dotty? Come on girl, come to daddy!" he looks around and pretends to notice the cop for the first time and shouts to him "Hey officer! Did you see a little black and white dog run out of the alley? She ran in here chasing a cat or a rat and now I can't find her!"

"I don't see no dogs around here." he replies.

"Ah man, my baby sistah, she gonna be so sad and mad at me if I's lost her little Dotty - she loves that little doggy. Mama gave it to her when papa died"

Sonny pulls Michael up by the arm. "man that was close!

Michael easily slips out through the window and the 2 of you head around the corner and back to your car. Its about 5:40 now.

OOC,are you heading back to the museum now or wanting to go somewhere else.

Having narrowly missed being arrested, you decide its time to head back to the Museum. You get there only a few minutes later.
