IC 3g: Calling the Globe (Warren)

Warren dials the familiar number hoping his friend Jenny is working. She would usually help him out in a pinch.

You hear a man's voice answer, "Boston Globe, how can I help you?" It was Phil. You never thought Phil liked you. He never said anything to you directly, it always seemed he would talk about you in a condesending way. He was one of those flashy good looking reporters. Always seemed to get the scoop and the girls without even working. His writing was sub-par at best, but he was on the fast track to the editors job, everybody knew that.

"Uh, hi Phil, Warren here. Do me a favour and take a look and see if Jenny's working, will you?"
I wait for an answer.
OOC,I have Fast talk at 35% or Persuade at 45% tell me what you need. I am hoping that I can get Jenny to take a look in the archives for anything concerning the Corbit house.

You hear Phil make some weird noise on the other end, but you're not sure what it was, "Warren, how are you and your scar doing champ? We haven't heard from you in weeks. What you working on? Maybe I can help."

You know he stole a story from you once. He claimed innocence and it was never proven. Your complaints fell on deaf ears, but you know that was no coincedence he just happen to fall into the same story you had spent 3 days working on.
ooc,Phil seems the king of fast talk. I'd recommend using persuade here.

Of all the people at the Globe it had to be him. Asking him for a favour was like asking the editor for an advance.
"Uh thanks for the offer, but I'll pass. I'm looking for Jenny so if she's there be a pal and call her to the phone"

Persuade,1d100 → [69] = (69) http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4204582/ No help forthcoming there then.

You hear him half giggling on the other end, "Uhm, I'm not sure Jenny can talk right now, she's kind of busy with something in her mouth, if you know what I mean."
.
Jenny has always been real nice to you while she has told you she thinks Phil is a big blowhard.

I tap the wall beside the phone with a solitary finger, "Okay Phil, now here's a thought. Get Jenny to the phone now, and we can forget this conversation. Otherwise I'm going to climb in my car and drive over to see you, and we know how messy that's going to get." I say this tight lipped keeping my voice low so as not to be overheard by any others in the room.
OOC,I'm trying to intimidate him but there is no roll for Intimidation. So any thoughts?

OOC,For intimidation I'm thinking a resistance check of strength + size. I just rolled for Phil and got appropriately a 13 for str and a 12 for size. Str and size (3d6=13, 3d6=12) Don't you just hate these kind of A'holes. So the resistance check would be only 25% for you, (20 vs 25) so go ahead and roll.

You hear Phil laugh on the other end, while you might be able to take him in a fight, he is obviously bigger and stronger than you, "messy yea right. I'd hate to have Jenny clean your blood up off the floor." You hear him laughing, "I'm just messing with you champ. Hold on a sec."
.
Then you hear him yelling off line, "Hey Jen Honey, phone for you.", then a female voice in the distance you can't understand.
Then Phil again, "It's your boyfriend Scarface."
.
Then he is back on the phone with you, "She's coming. See you around champ."
.
A few seconds pass, then the familiar voice of Jenny, "Hey Warren, haven't heard from you in a couple weeks, you okay?"

I slowly let the anger dissolve. Phil's a jerk whose one day going to get his, still hearing Jen's voice on the phone has its usual calming effect.
"Yeah busy on a story. Look, I could really do with some help here. Need someone to take a look in the paper's archives for the names Corbitt, Tom Lawrence or 'Law', and an address 121 Norman Street. See if theres any connection, dirt etc, You know the usual stuff."
OOC,do you need me to make a roll?

"Aw hon, you know I'd do the same for you" I say in my most persuasive voice, even though I know it won't work as I try it.
OOC,Invisible Castle seems to really have it in for me at the moment.

Jenn, sighs, "alright, let me see what I can find real quick. Do you want me to call you, or do you want to come pick it up."
You're not sure, but her voice changed in that last sentence.

I return to the phonecall.
"Tell you what Jenn, you get the info and I'll come to your place around 8pm. I'll bring some wine and some pretzels"

There is a bit of uncomfortable silence for a few seconds, then in a whisper, "Warren, I'm not so sure. I mean ..."

Before she has a chance to make further objections I replace the phone.
