Post by ghill »

Clay and Liz walk back across the road and down into Marble Arch station cahnging at Bond street tube the tube now takes them directly to Southwark station. The College Bar is an "estate pub" a brick built single story box built in the 1970's to provide booze and entertainment for the residents of the nearby Park Street Estate.

Inside the College Bar shows its age but it is busy and noisy full of local old boys, builders and some local office workers all in the pub for a lunchtime pint.

The landlady Rachel Musrati sits at the end of the bar pint in hand while eating a plate of chips.

Liz approaches Rachel. "Hullo," she says. "We're interested in a double murder that happened a couple of years back. Would you mind answering a few questions about it? There were body parts found in a factory near here. Can we please get directions to it? Also, do you know the names of the detectives who investigated it?"
OOC,I'm also looking to find out anything she might know about the murders, particularly if there were any leads or developments in the case, or if there is someone else who might know more.

Clayton stands by and keeps a close lookout to the patrons of the bar and see if any of them take particular interest in what Liz is saying.

Clayton also orders a pint.

"Oh my god it was awful them two poor girls ....."

Within a few minutes of listening to Rachel Liz is reasonably sure the woman knows absolutely nothing of importance, she talks about how horrific it was to live in a place near where a murder took place, how it disrupted her trade and frightened off her customers, but its clear the police never interviewed her and she doesn't seem to know anything more about it than would any other local. She does repeatedly mention about being quoted in the newspaper.

She She gives reasonable directions to the factory which is only a couple of minutes away and adds that people had been complaining about the tramps and drug dealers using the factory for ages, but that the police did nothing about it, so something was bound to happen eventually.

"Oh, I know," says Liz, sympathetically. "Have the police at least done something about the factory since the murders, or is it still dangerous?"

"Well, that's good," says Liz. "Thanks for your time." She looks at Clayton to see if he's ready to go.

If Clayton didn't see anyone looking guilty or showing more than a passing interest he finishes his pint, "Thanks for the info." Then nods to Liz.

As far as Clayton can see there is nothing suspicious about the pubs lunchtime crowd.

The factory is only a few minutes walk away. A four story brick built structure covered in scaffolding. A plaque on the wall says it was built in 1918 for some engineering firm. There are similar builings on either side of it and across the road from it, is the back of the Park Street estate. Access to the front of the building (and the pavement) is blocked by a Security fence. Access to the site is via a gateway leading to an archway which clearly leads to the back of the building (a loading bay perhaps?) Just inside the gateway is a portacabin outside of which three builders are having a brew.

"So, how do you want to play this? Do you think these guys even know anything?" Clayton asked.

"They might," says Liz. "It's worth talking to them. At the very least they could know which room in the factory the body parts were found in. How else are we to know which one if we don't ask?"

"Possibly, but they may not let us in either. You take the lead and use your female charm on them. I'll follow your lead. I agree its worth a shot, and we are already here. Maybe they noticed something the cops missed when they were tearing the place up." Clayton responded.

Liz chuckles. "I think you're overestimating how charming I am," she says, "but I'll give it a go." She approaches the construction workers. "Good afternoon, chaps," she says. "This used to be that factory where they found those body parts year before last, innit? Know anything about that?"

"There isn't much there to look at, but yeah why not the foreman's not here" With that the young man leads Liz and Clayton around to the the back of the loading bay. The young builder givesa running commentary about the gruesome murders, but its clear he doesn't know anything appart from what was in the newspapers. When they do get around the back its all rather dissapointing. There really isn't much to see the factories interior left as its largely been ripped out to make space for the new construction, there is little or nothing to see.

Liz looks around, hoping to maybe find familiar symbols carved or burned into something, but she sees nothing of the sort. She glances at Clayton to see if he's ready to leave.
