July 8th 1926 Dear Friends, I hope this letter finds you well, though, I wish I could say as much. The dig here in Luxor proceeds apace. It seems that each day brings a new discovery. This frenetic pace has come at a great cost. It has possesed Aaron, I fear, and any day that does not bring progress only wears him down. For my part I miss my dear friends. Companionship is hard to find here in Luxor even among the fellows of Chicago House. I confess that Professor Jamieson is my only true companion, though I must guard my time, even with him, as it makes Aaron so unhappy. I’m so sorry to burden you with my concerns.
