Herein you will find the earlier chapters of those unlucky enough to visit the quaint little tourist town with a weight in their hearts.

Character Sheets

Post by Laraqua »

Here is where you'll pop your character sheets and an avatar if you'd like to have one. You can submit them here, I'll give you any advice or suggestions on them here, that way you can always edit your post later on if need be (and I can already as I'm modding this thing).

Take a look at Masks of Nyarlathotep's character sheet thread to see how to set one up if you don't know already: http://www.callofcthulhu.org.uk/viewtop ... f=17&t=228

Hello,

Sorry, I guess I am unclear as to your guidelines for character creation. Are we generating our characters as per the standard character creation?

Oh yes, sorry. Yes, standard character creation. I don't mind people swapping around stats that use the same dice rolls (3d6 for a 3d6 stat) but otherwise, yes. You can go to www.invisiblecastle.com in order to have a record of your rolls that you can post with your sheet.

"Children must be allowed a childhood of imagination, dreaming, play and exploration. We shouldn't interfere with their natural developmental process in the attempt to create children who will think in a linear fashion and won't be capable of the critical mindset needed in this world."

Travis is a relatively young, idealistic educator who is an early childhood advocate and champions against standards and elementary school readiness that has become the focus of many preschool programs across the country. He started his education and career thinking that young children were free of the taints of society and in a sense was pure and free of judgment.

Sadly, he learned that even the youngest of humans could experience torment and tragedy; just as he did at a young age. Through the ages of 3-5 he was abused by his daycare provider, on a daily basis he'd cry in attempt to tell his parents but he was unable to speak when it first began and simply never told them later. He suffered from bed wetting and accidents well into his teenage years because he never developed a sense of safety and security. He was also prone to illness and has a rather meek and very umimposing figure.

Inventory:

Three ringed planning binder with calendar and copy of State Early Learning Standards
Water Colors(tubes)
various art and craft supplies
small pocket sized note book and pen
Creepy book(Toluca)
Historical Society pamphlet
Stuffed Panda that Calvin gave him
Child's map of School

Wow, and I thought I roll badly! You actually have 8 HP, not 6, as it is the average of your CON and SIZ (rounded up).

Art and Craft skills should specify which type of art or craft you've learned.

I don't have time to create my character now. It may have to wait until this weekend, though there's a chance I'll have a little extra time Wednesday night.

lol

I know I have terrible luck on the online roller. Anyway, I am glad to hear I have 2 more hit points than I thought.
Edited my sheet for Art(Water Colors), Craft(Children Art Projects)

I may change my character's name because I didn't realize until I checked your link that there already is a character named Travis. I also may play around with the point spread in my occupational skills prior to our starting game play if that's ok.

All of those 6s are making me think your character might have a congenital disease that is developing over time, perhaps giving you the shakes and weakening your musculature. What do you think? There could be cool plot in that which is awesome. On the other hand, your low rolls also make my eye twitch in sympathetic pain so in a rare demonstration of Keeper kindness, you may add four points (total) to either POW, Intelligence, or Education (or mix it up between them). Yes, it won't help your lower stats but I can just see too much cool plot potential there.

I am not really familar with this system, but I figured such a low roll would indicate some sort of physical or developmental impairment(depending on how I spread the points). I am open to role playing out such a trait and indicated in the back story that he probably did suffer from some sort of illness, but I am just not sure of what it is at this point.

I appreciate the sympathy and added 2 points to each of intellegience and education, adjusted my skill levels and my Idea and Know %s.

Yeah, you can use it as an indication. In truth, knowing Silent Hill, you could treat it as a 'nameless disability' from the background that left him with muscular weakness as an aesthetic dressing of those low rolls.

Andy Clarke is a journalism student at a nearby college with a girlfriend, Alison, who's a teaching student. He's painfully honest at times, and this could hinder his career as a journalist. However, he has more than a passing interest in "fringe" matters, and he thinks that his brutal honesty can be an advantage there. He goes out and investigates all manner of different things on his free weekends. Alison isn't really into all this "weird shit", as she calls it, but she still tags along once in a while. Andy's been hearing about several sightings of UFOs taking place recently in the Silent Hill area. This weekend, Alison needed to stay back at the dorms to study for an exam she has coming up, so Andy made the trip there himself to talk to some witnesses and see what's going on.

I'll calculate the skill points later on to make sure they all work but I'm happy with the skills and skill sets, really. The only thing is, could you put an asterisk besides the 'class skills' so that I can calculate the Edu skill points correctly?

yay! A couple more characters ready to go.

Anyway I suppose I would prefer that my character start the campaign alone, but would not mind eventually meeting other characters. It would also be nice to start the campaign in the real world setting.

Background:

Looking back on happy memories doesn't always bring happiness.

Cecilia fell in love (stupid girl) at law school. He was a receptionist, and he was wonderful (no). If he seemed sad, he denied it; if he seemed distant, she ignored it (stupid, stupid). When they got engaged - she proposed to him (funny, wasn't he always reluctant?) - their parents were so proud (and his were relieved).

Marriage. (mistake) Honeymoon. (faked) Bliss. (blindness)

They had a daughter (the only good thing to come out of it all). She was perfect (the best thing to come home to). They baked delicious cookies together (the smell makes me ache).

He loved her (but not like I loved him). He wanted to make sure she knew that when he swallowed his fear and came out of the closet (he tore me apart). Years of lies unraveled (how could I not have known?).

The divorce was smooth and uncomplicated (I couldn't look at him for days). He lives with a partner (at least he's happy) and their daughter goes back and forth between houses (she hates coming to see me; believe me, honey, I miss him too).

With her life upended (I can't bring myself to hate him), Cecilia has sought professional help (he was miserable because of me). Recently, her therapist told her:

"Why don't you take a vacation?"

(I hear Silent Hill is nice this time of year)

I will try to add my inventory when I get the chance. But I only have my iPad at the moment and it's horrible for navigating discussion forums. I might also move some points from listen and spot hidden to natural history if I have the chance. These will be my last adjustments.

Name: Jack Fifer
Age: 29
Sex: Male
Occupation: Bartemder
Current Residence: Silent Hill

Backstory: Although he was born in Silent Hill, his parents moved away from all the 'craziness' when he was very young and settled in New York, where he eventually attended the University of New York and majored in Psychology.

He was a bright student, top of his class. However, he could never stay focused in one job, moving from one thing to the next. He drifted around aimlessly for years, until he realized that he really missed his hometown of Silent Hill. He came back, although nobody back in town recognized Jackie anymore. He heard that there was a position open in Annie's Bar, and took it.

He is infamous among the residents of Silent Hill as mixing particularly strong drinks.

Re: Character Sheets

Post by Laraqua »

Page 41 has the Occupation First option. I'm happy to go with any of those three options. Thus you could swap APP with EDU or you can move 3 points from one roll to another up to three times or you can total your characteristic points and then re-distribute (remembering the maximum limits vary depending on the option). And yes, I know that some of your rolls would get a +3 or a +6 depending on the characteristic. Don't bother removing those from, say, SIZ to translate it into INT. Just swap the full score over.
Is it bad that I listen to this about ten times a day?
