Arrival

The world can be a cruel and terrible place. More so when the Blitz strikes down at London and certain key cities, when mothers and fathers go off to the front lines to get shot and killed or captured by enemy soldiers, and when a billet off in the countryside can suddenly end with news of the death of your living parents, or perhaps entire families, in air raid shelters or bombed factories. Luckily there are still places for such children. Orphanages where children can be protected and looked after by kindly women. This is one such orphanage ... or so you hope when you approach the cast iron gate.

"I wanted to eat it too," says Clive, "but it was obviously a trap. This whole place is based on fairy tales, an that room was like a witch's gingerbread house. He ate the candy, and now he's disappeared."

So, he disobeyed me, the little nut head.
Mike says, clearly agitated on the poor missing Perg.
Jack, you are not under my responsibility but eating this fungus looks like a bad idea.
let's keep moving lads.

Mike says as he light the way with the glowing mushroom. he holds it with his sleeves, terrifying from th idea that the glowing substance will stick to his cloth.

The mushrooms continue to glow when pulled from the wall, though they don't make Jack's belly glow they do make his lips and tongue glow a little.
Is it bad that I listen to this about ten times a day?

Jack sticks out his tongue trying to see it. He smiles, his mouth glowing luminously in the low light. "Faery tales hey?" And he follows the other boys.

Even with the aid of his glowing mushroom, Clive can't see much, nor does he hear anything unusual.
OOC,The dice roller has to be activated individually for each board. By default, it does not work. Any adminstrator or global moderator can activate it.

Successful Listen Checks, can hear what sounds like the ticking of a metronome further down the now curving passageway, though the sound reverberates as though it were in a larger room. The sound of shuffling footsteps can also be heard down there.

Jack grins a luminous grin. "Something's coming up fellas; let's see what it is!" And he pushes forwards and speeds up a tad.

They rush forward to what appears to be a massive tower with smooth stone walls. Eight feet down is a massive clock face with ticking arms like sharpened pendulums which move with a loud tick-tick-tick through the air. A skeletal child-like figure, dressed in clothing much like them, but with a rat tail worth of bones and a pointed skull strolls in the spaces between them.

As Clive speaks, the blades move and all can see a flash of a closed and bolted trapdoor on the other side of the room at 12 o'clock. A pair of bolt cutters are hung off a hook to the right at 3 o'clock.

"Oh, I see," says Clive. "We have to get the bolt cutters first, then get that trapdoor open and go through it - all without the skellie getting us."

"Ho ho, this could be fun. Is the skellie friend or foe?" Jack watches the skeletal figure carefully. "If one of us distracts it then the others can grab the bolt cutter and make for the trap door. They'll have to open it pretty sharpish for the other fellow."

"I dunno," says Clive. "It looks kind of like a kid, but kind of like a giant rat. Maybe we could ask it. We could try talking to it."

"Here Clive, take my satchel for me." Jack hands over his battered leather satchel to Clive and then focuses on the rat-thing. He rubs his palms together and looks like he's preparing to do something.
ooc,I'm not sure on the layout: where we are in relation to the clock, the tower and the skellie. Is the clock above us and centre of the room with pendulums dangling below, with the skellie walking around underneath it. The skellie on the same level as us?
