IC-Ep 4-The Fugitive(Salem Shields only)

Dunwich Beach - Dunwich, England
3:47 PM - Thursday, September 5, 1985

Salem ran north up the beach with a bullet in his back and the bloody knife gripped in his hand, the two constables blowing on their whistles and Horsham in hot pursuit. This section of the beach was starting to get populated with tourists, all of whom recoiled in fear as the chase approached them. The cliffs still blocked travel to the west, but in the distance ahead he'd be able to access the road.

Dashing through the beach, Salem stomps through the sands frantically as he makes a break for the road, wondering to himself where the mysterious gunshot came from that sparked his mistakes.

OOC,I'll need to wait for a little for one of the other threads to advance, in case it affects this thread by the time you reach the road.

Salem ran up the beach, his pursuers close behind. He headed for the road, which split off in three different directions. Beach Road ran northeast to the Flora Tea Rooms, where it ended. Monastery Hill ran off to the southwest, and St. James's Street ran through town to the west. The Ship Inn was situated at the intersection, and the Model T was still in the car park.

His thoughts racing, the cops close on his heels, and Salem was running out of time. He had to think fast, and so he started heading down St. Jame's Street.

Running down St. James's Street, it wasn't long before Salem could see the Dunwich Museum ahead to the left. The street stretched on ahead of him a long distance, and the men continued chasing him, blowing on their whistles and waving their truncheons.

Salem makes his way to the museum, hopefully try to lose them inside once he gets there.

Salem burst into the museum, the knife still in his hand. The little bell above the door tinkled as it flew open. Inside, Amelia Cressy was talking to a few tourists in front of one of the exhibits. They all turned when they heard the sound. The lead policeman entered only a few seconds behind Salem, still blowing his whistle and waving his baton.

OOC:   Is it possible to lock the door as the first policeman enters? I'm fine using up my turn in this combat phase if it's necessary. Also, what's the layout of the museum again?

OOC,You can try that by making a Resistance Table roll pitting your DEX of 9 against the constable's DEX of 13. This gives you a 30% chance. There is a counter near the door, behind which are various items for sale. Exhibits stand across the length of the room, and there is one other exit to the rear: a door with a small sign that says "Employees Only."

Pivoting around 180 degrees, Salem throws his weight on the door and fumbles around the knob and locks it shut.

Salem's hand found the deadbolt, and he locked it just a tiny fraction of a second before the first constable slammed into the door. It held against his attempts to batter it, but once the others caught up with him...

"Goodness, what's going on?" cried Amelia, her jaw dropping when she saw the wound in Salem's back.

Salem looks over to Amelia, suddenly aware of the bloody knife still clutched in his hand, the awkward situation addressed, "Sorry! Gotta go! Places to go and calories to burn!"

Amelia backed away as the tourists gasped. "Just don't do anything crazy," she said.

With no time to catch his breath, Salem ran across the exhibit floor for the Employees Only door, hoping to catch a break.

Salem burst through the door into a short, narrow hall extending further back. There were additional doors on the left and right, as well as a larger door at the back end of the hall. All of them were currently closed.

Behind him came the sound of splintering wood. The front door had been smashed open!

Salem attempts to crash through the larger door at the back end of the hall, hoping that he could lose the police behind him.

Salem burst through the door, which turned out to be the museum's rear door, and found himself once again outside, this time behind the museum. In the distance to the left, past a cottage, he could see the back of the Ship Inn and its car park. To the right were the rear of more buildings, and straight ahead he could see woods stretching off to the south.

Hoping to finally lose the cops on his tail, Salem closes the door behind him and makes his way to the woods in desperate attempt.

OOC:   Sorry I haven't posted in a while, the May long weekend came around and I took the holiday off. Also, catching up with school as well distracted me.
