Story led the way back to the astrophysics lab, using the sonic screwdriver to defeat the security on the various airlocks and the door to the lab itself. As soon as he opened the first one that way, alarms began to sound. The Time Lord and his companions reached the TARDIS without incident.
hind-sight,Handy, since I was sort of unavailable to post earlier, can I make a search roll on those other three smoldering corpses to see if any of them still had their alien-type weapons?
Lucius smiled as he saw the TARDIS. "I was almost certain that we were going to be devoured at any moment. I can't help but wonder what that might feel like - being devoured by a fungus. Don't really care to find out though."
OOC,Yes, you can roll Spot Hidden. You'll find the clusters of tubes with no problem, since they were large (there are two of them), but you'd need to roll Spot Hidden to find one of the hand-held weapons quickly.
Spot Hidden - succeed,Spot Hidden(50%) (1d100=40) - let's just say he put it in a pocket or something for later examination.
Brook heads over to the console of the TARDIS, gently stroking her fingers across it. "Yeah, let's get out of here. But where? Should we make sure the others aren't followed? That the earth's not invaded? Do the Mi-Go even have space ships?"
Lucius didn't quite understand the whole concept of space ships, and atmosphere, let alone alien biological impairments. He entered the TARDIS and found a seat, then pulled out the gadget he had picked up from the Mi-Go, examining it carefully and trying not to trigger it by accident. He wiped the Mi-Go-Goo off on his environmental suit so that it wasn't all nasty.
Story and his companions recalled the Mi-Go mentioning that they can travel through space, but they did not have or need spaceships.
Everyone entered the TARDIS. Once the doors were closed, it was safe for them to remove their helmets and spacesuits. Somehow the TARDIS didn't need an airlock. It remained pressurized on the inside even when the doors were open and there was no air on the outside. Lucius took out the small black device he had found on one of the dead Mi-Go in the docking bay. It seemed completely beyond him. He had no idea how to use it, let alone how it worked.
OOC,Everyone who wishes to examine the Mi-Go weapon may make an Electrical Repair roll. Normally the base skill is 10%, but since Lucius is from ancient Rome, his base skill in Electrical Repair is only 1%.
"Hey Story..." Lucius called from where he was sitting. He had taken his helmet off, but left his suit on for the moment. "Any idea what this might be? I picked it up off of one of the dead Mi-Go. Thought it might be a weapon - and could help even the odds for us." He shrugged, and laughed with slight embarrassment, "Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be much more than a fancy rock to me."
As soon as Story removed his helmet he walks over to Lucius to look at the device. "Hmmm...I haven't the foggest." Turning towards Brook as he begins to remove his spacesuit. "There's really nothing left for us to do. We can't help them now. We just have to believe that they will make it back to Earth." Once out of the suit Story walks over to the console preparing to de-materialize the TARDIS and looks at his companions one at a time. "Shall we try again to see those dinosaurs?" Smiles.
Book nods and removes her space suit. "OK. If there's anything more we can do, maybe the TARDIS will get us where we need to be." She moves over to Lucius to look at the Mi Go weapon after she's taken off her suit.
As Brook is examining the object, Lucius starts taking his suit off as well, laying it dirty-side up. He tries to think back to when he saw the Mi-Go holding the device to determine which side was forward. He figured that'd be the most important thing to know if they went experimenting with it.
OOC,Just curious why it requires an electronics roll to remember how the MiGo held it in their grasp... wouldn't that be more like an Idea check? Or is it simply because it is so bizarrely symmetrical that it's simply impossible to tell one end from the other?
OOC,It doesn't look like any weapon Lucius has ever seen, and its design is completely alien. It does look the same all around, though the wiring is visible and could perhaps be traced to give you an idea of how it is used. The Electrical Repair roll is to understand somewhat about how it functions.
