The airlock opened, and General Richard Pryce emerged first. He was quickly followed by Lt. Colonel Howard Bruce, Private Alison Silver, Private Robert MacCrimmon, and Captain Juliette Desjardins. The security officers were pushing a gravcart containing the body of Colonel Patel wrapped up in a foil sheet. Another gravcart rested near Charon's Ferry, containing fire extinguishers, oxygen pumps, and similar supplies. The security chief closed the airlock again, and it began to repressurize.
In addition to Major Natalia Orlova, Lt. Hu Xiang, Private Sofia Torres, and Private George Bond, there were also five Mi-Go present. Three of them carried small knob-shaped devices in their pincers, and two carried large metallic clusters with tubes jutting out. All three spacecraft were in the bay, and the dome was open to the black, starry sky.
"Where are the other humanzzz?" asked the lead Mi-Go.
"They are coming," said General Pryce. "They need to put on their vacuum suits before they can join us. Unlike you, we cannot survive in Pluto's atmosphere."
"Very well. We will wait...but not much longer."
"Colonel Patel's body is here, if you wish to inspect it."
The lead Mi-Go directed one of the others to examine the body. It flew across the bay to the cart and looked it over. "The colonel izzz dead," it buzzed.
"If you dezzzire, we can zzzave her brain," said the Mi-Go leader. "Zzzhe wazzz only killed rezzzently."
"That will not be necessary. She was a traitor."
A few minutes later, the airlock opened again. It contained Captain Karin Bauer, Lt. Colleen Rose, Sergeant Heinrich Kohl, Story, Elizabeth, Lucius, and Brook.
"All humanzzz are now accounted for," said the Mi-Go. "Exzzzellent."
"We have a request," said General Pryce. "According to our protocols, our security chief must undergo a complete examination by our medical officer before he is allowed to board our ship, considering he was in your custody."
"Requezzzt denied. There have been too many delayzzz already. You humanzzz will all board your vezzzelzzz and depart for Earth. Immediately."
Story and his companions knew that if they were forced to go to Earth aboard ship, they would be leaving the TARDIS behind and would likely never see it again.
