She gave him a strange look and then frowned slightly, as if musing something over in her mind; "my name is Ellie Knox, touring here in the city with my brother. We hail from Kansas, if you were wondering about the accent...thou the folk around here wouldn't know Baja from the Bronx!"
'Oh i heard the North American accent but im not very familiar with regional differences' Alavaro smiles at her again 'what is this Baja? ive never heard of the term' 'and by the way, that dress looks stuning on you, i wonder if theres a dance hall in this Hotel'

Prof. Eckhart, holding his brandy glass, approaches the table where Carl and Kirsten are sat. "May I join you?"

Kirstin,'Debt....Baja...Bronx...those were all OSS keywords...what the hell??' Her head snapped up sharply and she suddenly took stock of the American woman at the bar conversing with Alvaro.

Ellie
smiled again at Alvaro, "Baja? A little place out West where the sun shines all day long..." She looked into the middle distance for a moment, lost in her own thoughts. "You'll have to buy me another drink if you want a dance! I'll be sticking around for a while yet anyhow, I'm meeting my brother when he gets back from his errand."

Kirsten smiles at Eckhart. "Of course," she says, motioning to an empty seat. "Be my guest." She continues to follow the conversation between the Spaniard and the American woman with interest.
Keeper,What are codewords I need to use in order to respond to her?

'Oh well' 'i hope mentioning your brother isint a subtile way to reject me' he winks at her 'come over hunny and let me introduce you the some other fellow explorers' Alvaro lifts his arm to escort Ellie to where Carl, Kirsten and Prof. Eckhart where sitting. 'And let me grab that drink for you' Alvaro grabs the Gin and Tonic from the bar walking slowly towards the group 'Hey people' 'let me introduce Ellie Knox, from Baja United States'

Prof. Eckhart pulls out a chair and sits down. He raises his brandy glass to Kirsten and Carl before taking a luxuriant sip of the cognac.

He nods a greeting to Alvaro and Ellie. "Ms. Knox, how do you do?"

"Pleased to meet a fellow American, Miss Knox," says Kirsten. "I'm Kirsten Hart, from Los Angeles, California." She turns briefly to Alvaro. "I couldn't help overhearing your conversation. Miss Knox said she's from Kansas, not Baja. Baja is actually in Mexico, not the United States. I should know, Baja is not too far from home for me and I've been there before. I do happen to know it from the Bronx." She grins, looking back at Ellie.

Kirsten & Carl OOC,Kirsten & Carl know the correct response to include the words LEAVE, OWED and WASHINGTON in a sentence

"Quite right Miss Hart, I often have a habit of talking too loud at the table. My mom would smack my wrists if she caught me just then!" Her smile appeared genuine for hearing a friendly accent. She bobbed a dainty and jaunty curtsy at the assembled people, "Please to meet y'all! Hope you don't mind me butting in like this, its always nice to hear a familiar language when so far from home. So are you all together?"

"Unlikely as it seems in these troubled times, yes, we are travelling together."

Prof. Eckhart asks Alvaro: "Mr. Uribe, have you mentioned to Ms. Knox that you are a wonderful dancer? I would very much like to watch you dance."

"Yes, we're all part of the same expedition," says Kirsten. "I was just remarking that this is the furthest I've ever traveled. Until now I've only been as far south as Mexico and as far north as Washington state, though I had been as far east as New York, so when the opportunity arose I felt I owed it to myself and couldn't wait to leave."

ooc,Sorry, didn't mean to drop like that. FWIW I made the listen roll I think: 1d100=38 I have to find my character sheet for this. I probably put it in a dropbox folder. Gotta catch up.

Prof. Eckhart claps his hands in delight. "I admire you, seƱor! We must have some music! I'll go ask the bartender and demand he finds a gramophone." As he stands he says to Kirsten: "Ms. Hart, you will honour me with a dance?"

Kirsten,Ellie catches Kirsten's eye with a knowing look...
Ellie clapped her hands together, "My brother, oh he had a errand to run in town. He's a little overdue but boys will be boys, he's probably got a gal on his arm! I think I could take a spin on the floor...that is if you think you can keep up." Her mischievous smile twinkled at Alvaro.

The bartender obliged at once when asked, pointing the Professor to a ornate and expensive looking gramophone on a side table. There was a stack of records neatly stacked on a shelf underneath the table-top.

OOC - Anyone take Art-Dance? ;)

OOC,Your character sheet is listed in the thread with the others, and your Listen skill is 45%, so you succeeded. I don't have Art(Dancing), just Art(Acting). Maybe I can pretend I know what I'm doing. All I have to do is follow. My DEX is 10, which is about average.

"I'd be delighted," says Kirsten, rising from the table and following Eckhart to the gramophone.

"I warn you now," Prof. Echart wags a mock-serious finger at Kirsten, "that I'm a slow dancer, and a bit of a 'toe-stepper.'"

The professor leafs through the gramaphone records."Which one, Alvaro?"

occ,Cha-cha-cha and salsa are quite modern (post 50's). Flamenco isint really a music type you dance to in couple. We can go for Foxtrott, being played and popluar trought the 20s and 30's
'

'Do they got any Forxtrot?'
