OOC: CHAPTER 5 - At Sea

This thread is for all side discussions and rolling of dice for the In Character thread of Chapter 5 - At Sea.

Since I expect that there will be LOTS of classes offered during our sea voyage, and LOTS of dice rolling, I've been pondering ways to make this travel thread easier to follow, and I think that I've hit upon a way to do this.

Here is a link to the Synopsis for the Chapter 5 IC thread. In this synopsis thread, you'll find an index to each day's/week's schedules of classes, and also an index of everyone's dice rolls for skill increases. The class schedules will be posted by Prof. Moore in the IC thread, and the OOC thread will hold the die results, so I thought it best to provide links to everything in the Synopsis.

As a general note regarding skills increases:
  • Each class offered by the expedition NPCs offers the opportunity to improve one or more skills. During this portion/chapter of our campaign, I am ruling that our skill increases will differ slightly from the standard CoC rules. Normally, according to the CoC training rules, a character must take a class for 6 months to increase their skill by 1d10.
  • For chapter 5 of this campaign: to gain a chance to increase one's skill, the character who's taking the class must have a skill level that is lower than that of the instructor
  • For chapter 5 of this campaign: the first day of class has a chance to increase a character's skill. After that, a character must attend one week'’s worth of a particular lesson to have a chance to improve that skill(s). I’ll keep track of how many days you each have been to a particular lesson, so you can shift and mix classes day by day, if you'd like.
  • If any of you want to run classes of your own, or help one of the NPCs to run theirs then I’ll find a suitable reward in place of the skill boosts. You just need to mention it to Moore, then chalk yourself up on the chalkboard that morning. (ie make a post or PM me).
  • The classes only run for an hour or two each, so you can attend several in the same day if you want, or enjoy some free time. The same classes won’t be running every day, but each class will run several times.

Hello Anatomist,

I'm considering how to play out the boxing matches in chapter 5 with Øyvind and the other crew members (eventually James Starkweather). I think that we have 3 main options to consider, and I'm leaning towards either option 2 or 3. We would use nonlethal damage for all boxing matches.

1. LOW DETAIL: We can do it all in very abstract terms - one die roll per match. For example, we compare a die roll for Øyvind's melee attack against a die roll for his opponent and whoever wins the roll, wins the match. This would be quick, and I could make up some description of the fight, but it would not be very detailed or satisfying, I don't think.

2. MEDIUM DETAIL: We can simulate a boxing match with the standard combat rules, using nonlethal damage, blow-by-blow. This would take some time, and would be more detailed than option 1, so we could describe out actions in an IC thread. To make sure that we don't spend months playing this out, I'd suggest one melee attack roll and one block roll per combatant per boxing round. For example, For round 1 Øyvind rolls for his melee and block, and his opponent rolls for his melee and block, and we compare the rolls, then describe some things in the IC thread.

3. HIGH DETAIL: We use slightly modified CoC rules that allow for called shots to the head, stomach, or kidneys
  • Head - minus 20% to hit, successful hit = chance to hit again, full damage = chance to stun
  • Stomach - normal melee chance to hit, successful hit = chance to hit again
  • Kidneys - normal melee chance to hit, successful hit = chance to hit again
Similar to option 2, we roll one melee and one block roll per combatant per boxing round, then compare. This option allows us to pick an area to hit and might be fun to describe in the IC thread.

Your thoughts?
Job.

Ha! Nice one.
Let me see. I like option 2 the best. For once i would like it to go quicker then 3 and still retain some good IC stuff.
Now... If i could suggest... and this is applicable to 3 a swell and make it my favorite :)
Make the mechanics be like this. Each player makes 3 rolls for melee compare them

Code: Select all

1 2 3
PC1: Success Not Not -attacking
PC2: Success Success Not -defending
On the first its a draw on the second one of them hit in the third is a draw. The player gets to act out 3 moves playing one of the to hit and describe it.

Example: "Øyvind mesearued his openent taking two quick step towards PC2, going for the kidneys, punching two blows wich PC2 blocked, seeing the opening to the head punching him firmly over the ear"

Instead of making a hit of head be 20%, make all the first hits even, but if the player has tree hits (winning the 3 Success rollss) each hit make more dmg then the last. say dmg +1 for the second hit, and dmg +3 (+4 for head) for the third. First hit is normal dmg.

OK, we agree to go with option 2, keeping things simple, but adding a little more detailed dice rolling to assist in our IC writing. I'll suggest a compromise between our proposals:

1) Each character rolls the dice three times for three hand-to-hand attacks per boxing round, and we compare the sets of attack rolls, 1st roll versus 1st roll, 2nd roll versus 2nd roll, and 3rd roll versus 3rd roll.
  • If both players succeed in a compared attack roll, then that set is a draw and the successful attacks cancel each other, and no damage is done.
  • If both players fail their attack rolls, then neither player made a successful attack and nothing happens.
  • If one player succeeds and the other fails, then the successful player lands a punch on his/her opponent.
It's possible for both players to land punches during a round.

2) For every successfully landed punch, the character rolls for non-lethal hand-to-hand damage as per their character sheet. When reduced to 0 HP, a character is knocked down and cannot resume the fight, but is not knocked out.

3) Knock-out Attack (as per CoC rules, page 60: More Spot Rules for Combat) - For any landed punch, roll for damage as in an ordinary attack, but match the result against the target's HP on the resistance table. A success knocks the target unconscious for several minutes. If the attack succeeds but the resistance table check does not, then there is no knock-out, and the target takes full rolled damage.

4) The player or Keeper that landed the highest number of punches--or scored the knock-out--is granted the right to post the description for that boxing round. If there is a tie, then the player and keeper each roll a d100 and the highest score writes the blow-by-blow description for that boxing round.

Anatomist, are you OK with this? I like them. :)

Thanks everyone! I'll keep generating the Google map.

BTW, today I have a lot of raking of leaves to do in RL, so we'll see if I can carve out some time later today to write. Once I finish raking leaves, I may spend my time tonight adding detail to our "Key NPC's" topic in the reference section. That topic area needs some work (i.e. photos, descriptions, and links to previous activities) and I expect that it will prove very helpful to you folks in the coming months.

Boxing match, round 1

Posted: Tue Nov 15, 2011 2:55 am
by Job
Hello Anatomist,

During our first round
Tommy missed his first punch, but Øyvind hit (roll of 43, under his fist/punch skill of 50%), so Øyvind's punch successfully landed.
Tommy hit on his second punch, and so did Øyvind, so they canceled each other out.
Tommy hit on his third punch, but Øyvind missed, so Tommy's punch successfully landed.

Therefore, Tommy and Øyvind each hit with one punch, a tie.
Here's my roll of 71 to see if I get to describe the round's action
You have to roll over a 71 on a d100 for you to describe the round. (I'm assuming you have to roll greater than me) :)

Thanks Anatomist!

I'll post a description of the round tomorrow. By the way, I posted a picture of Tommy Lopez for you in the IC thread. :)

QUESTION: Did Oyvind do 5 hp of nonlethal damage with the punch that he landed? I thought that I saw you post that the other day, but can't find the link. I'll roll for Tommy's nonlethal damage tomorrow as well (and you'll see the roll).

Thanks,

Tommy Lopez's damage roll, round 1

Tommy Lopez did 4 HP of nonlethal damage to Øyvind. I've edited your character sheet.

Knock-out attempt = d100 roll on resistance table (attacker's damage vs. target's HP) = 4 damage vs. Øyvind's 15hp = not possible.

For his successful punch, Øyvind Raknes will get a d100 roll to improve his skill at the end of this fight.

A tie again!
  • First sequence: Both Tommy and Øyvind landed punches, so this cancels out
Second sequence: Tommy hit, but Øyvind missed
Third sequence: Øyvind landed a punch, but Tommy missed.
Since this is a tie, I rolled a d100 for the honor of getting to describe the action, and I rolled an 84!!! Beat that!

Even though the Øyvind's and Tommy's boxing match is not yet complete, tomorrow (in RL) I'll be starting the next day's activities on Sept 13th (game time) in the IC thread to keep things moving. This will throw a few things out of sequence, for example the boxing match all occured on Sept 12th, but if we wait to do everything in sequence according to time, then we won't reach Antarctica for a very long time in RL.

To keep the confusion down and to keep the timing somewhat clean, I'm going to start a separate thread for the boxing match and copy in all of the relevent posts (Anatomist, we can continue posting our die rolls in this OOC thread, to keep them all together). And in the future, I'll split off the sporting events and significant activities into separate threads, even though those threads might be completed pretty quickly.

I hope that this makes sense to everyone. Send me a PM if not. And if anyone has any suggestions to improve our game, be sure to either send me a PM or to post comments in the OOC threads. I've already borrowed/stolen a number of ideas from players and other games to make things a bit better, so don't hesitate to let me know your thoughts.

This is the damage roll done by Tommy Lopez during the second round. Not very impressive...

Based on Øyvind's current HP = 11, and Tommy's damage of 3 HP for his landed punch, he has a 10% chance to knock Øyvind out.
Ooh! Almost!

Anatomist, based on your 5 HP of nonlethal damage done this round, and Tommy's 10 remaining HP at start of the second round, you have a 15% chance to knock out Tommy. Please roll. :!:

Hmm.

Uh, Anatomist? To use a skill, your character needs to roll under his % chance, so Øyvind missed every punch since his fist/punch skill = 50%.

However, Gunnar only landed his second punch, so Øyvind was very lucky. Damage to Øyvind = 5 HP (nonlethal), but since two bouts took place between Øyvind's last fight and this one, Øyvind was at full HP having recovered between bouts.

Looking at the resistance table, Gunnar has no chance to knock out Øyvind (5HP damage vs. Øyvind's 15 starting HP).

Since Gunnar won the first round, I get to describe the action. :)

OK, so here are the changes that I think I'd need to make:
  • George attends the Sept 14, 15, 16, 17 technical climbing classes
  • George begins teaching the "Antarctica Flora and Fauna" class beginning on Sept 16
Does this sound right?

Never mind the timeline, just make the new class go live after the weekend 18-19.

Hello Mr. Handy,

That is an excellent photo of your Lockheed airplane!

Hey, regarding your "miss" % roll with your flying manuever, I'm assuming that Katie lost control of the aircraft for a brief period during the climb and will have a skill roll to regain control as the craft begins dropping from it's zenith. If she misses a second time, then I'd say the craft will then enter a fast steep dive and she'd get one last skill check -10% to correct the drop--and parachute out if unsuccessful.

Do you agree or would you handle it differently?

I plan to make a post that responds to your recent one describing Katie's climb (i.e. Gabrielle crew members begin noticing her efforts).

Job.

Thanks!

Sounds about right to me. A single normal failure, especially one that fails so narrowly, shouldn't result in a wreck directly. I'll go ahead and make my next roll.

Nicely done! Geez, and I was hoping that there'd be a ditched airplane and that we'd have an early rescue operation going! Starkweather would've surely had some fun things to say in such an event! ;) Ah well, there'll be plenty of time for that on the ice...

White Top Hat, White Suit, white gloves, Red Neckties, and a cane (wear in case of insanity breakout)
Playing Cards
Books to read (includes magazines such as the Astounding Stories and Weird Tales)

I beg to differ.

Astounding Stories and Weird Tales is a kind of funny because that is where Lovecraft published his story, At the Mountain of Madness.

Thanks for your responses, Túrin and Anatomist. I know that Katie and Ernest are otherwise preoccupied and won't be joining Peter, so your responses let me know that I should continue Peter's Panama City thread on my own for now, to keep it moving forward towards a conclusion.

Also, I'd like to move the voyage forward even though we have a few loose ends in Panama City, so I'll be creating a separate Chap 5 thread to begin the Panama to Australia voyage, to start that trip while keeping open the leg of the journey in Chap 5 New York City to Panama. This will allow us to avoid confusion with time shifts and to build momentum towards Antarctica while reserving a spot for closing out some conversations and orientation elements in the previous thread. I don't really want to create yet another open thread, but I'd rather do that than have our game stagnate while waiting to finish up a few things in Panama.

I'll work on these posts today.

As the weather has taken a turn for the worst, every character must make CON rolls to avoid seasickness, CON is multiplied based on the severity of the weather and the displacement of the vessel. In this case moderate gales in the afternoon of the 21st and strong in the evening and the Gabrielle’s ~10,000 ton displacement mean a CONx5 test in the afternoon and CONx4 in the evening. You'll need to make 1d00 seasickness rolls until your character passes.

The tests are made every twelve hours, passing a test allows both normal activity and the chance to make a ‘Sea Legs’ Test (1d100) using the highest of Spot Hidden or Tracking. Once you'’ve found your Sea Legs you can ignore any non-storm weather in future.

Failing a seasickness test means that all manipulation, perception and combat tests are halved until you recover.

EDIT: Wade missed his CON check for the morning for Sept 22nd (rolled 99 vs. needed to be less than 70), so his second roll to gain his "Sea Legs" is ignored.

You are correct in your calculations, Túrin. James made his constitution checks and thereby avoided any embarrasing "accidents", but he failed each Sea Legs check so he'll need to continue making these checks during the storm.

EDIT: Based on your 10 die rolls, James was never actually ill during the rough seas of Sept 21 to 23, but he never gained his "Sea Legs" either. He will have to continue to make CON Checks during future storms.

Martin valiantly held his own during the storm, and even managed to gain his Sea Legs! Here's a link to Martin's die rolls versus CONX5=80 and SpotHidden=50.

Martin easily made his Constitution check in the afternoon of Sept 21, and then made his Sea Legs check by the slimmest of margins (a roll of 50 against a Spot Hidden skill of 50), but he made it!

Yes, the way that the BtMoM guide describes seasickness and sea legs is that: "Physical and psychological components contribute to this irritating malady. The physical component is essentially the nausea provoked when the perceptions of two senses, the messages sent by inner ear and those sent by the eyes, contradict each other. This occurs when ships toss and plunge in heavier waves and swells. The psychological component may be an anxiety about seasickness which induces physical discomfort...

...if the character can receive a successful CON roll before the weather gets better, he or she has a chance to acquire his or her sea legs. This is done by rolling under the current percentiles for either skill having to do with visual perception--Spot Hidden or Track (player's choice)."

It does, sort of, make sense. ;)

EDIT from Job: Unfortunately, James never made a single "Sea Legs" check (roll must be less than 25). He made it through the rough seas of Sept 22nd and 23rd, but must continue to make checks during future storms.

OK Anatomist, this means that Gunnar not only hits you with damage from one punch, but also that I get to describe the action for that round.

LINK -- Gunnar hit Øyvind for 4 points of nonlethal damage in the second round
Gunnar's punch also has a chance to knock out Øyvind. Using the CoC rules for a knockout, I match the damage vs. the target's HP on the resistance table. In this case it's 4 damage (active characteristic) versus Øyvind's HP of 10 prior to the punch (passive characteristic), so for a knockout Gunnar must roll 20% or less.

LINK -- Gunnar failed the roll, so Øyvind was not knocked out and is fit to start the third round. However, Øyvind is now down to 6 hit points and I've updated your character sheet.

Errrr i dont get it. Why only one punch make damage?, when Gunnar hit three times one of them being nullified by Øyvind's landing one punch? => two punches that would make damage?

Yes, Mr. Handy has it right, Anatomist; I'm sorry that I didn't explain very well. Gunnar hit with three punches and Øyvind hit with two, therefore Øyvind's two successful punches cancelled out (i.e. parried) two of Gunnar's three successful punches, which means that only one of Gunnar's punches actually did any damage.

Here is a link to Gunnar's 3 punches for the next round. Please roll for Øyvind, and good luck! I'm actually hoping that Øyvind WINS this bout since Gunnar seems a little too cocky. :)

Argh. I suck. Sorry i see my mistake.

3 punches (1d100=80, 1d100=21, 1d100=63) at 50% punch skill; Øyvind gets one punch trough.

3 punches (1d100=80, 1d100=21, 1d100=63) at 50% punch skill; Øyvind gets one punch trough.
So for the third round, Øyvind had one successful attack while Gunnar had two successful attacks, therefore one of Gunnar's punches is not blocked and damages Øyvind. Geez, Gunnar has been rolling EXTREMELY well...

Gunnar hit Øyvind for 5 hit points of nonlethal damage! Yikes!

For the knockout roll, when matching up Gunnar's 5 hp of damage (active characteristic) versus Øyvind's starting 6HP for the third round (passive characteristic), it results in a 45% chance for Gunnar to knock out Øyvind.

Unfortunately, Gunnar knocked Øyvind out in the third round. I'm sorry Anatomist. :( Øyvind put up a good fight! I'll post a description of the third round shortly.

Yes, thanks Anatomist, that makes sense. I'm continuing the ship's tour with Katie Wright and Ernest Roosevelt because it may actually prove helpful to all players at some point (especially any further late additions), and also it's interesting roleplaying with excellent questions coming from the players!

Yes, at the time of the tour, you are quite correct, Roy.

By the time that our expedition has reached the mid-Pacific (i.e. the current status of our Chap 5 IC Panama-Australia thread), though, I'd expect that Ernest has heard Father's morning prayers, though.

Which reminds me (now that my flu-hazed mind has recovered a bit...), I need to add a post in the Panama-Australia IC thread to finish up with Starkweather's acceptance of Katie on the expedition for Mr. Handy. (Fixed. :) )

Hello Mr. Handy,

I'm actually about an hour west of Philly in the suburbs, west of King of Prussia towards the Pottstown area. I travel into Philly about once a month for sporting events, plays, concerts, the Art Museum, sometimes taking a class, and whatever, so I'd find it great fun to get together at some time. Let me know if you're interested. I might come down for a Phillies game in May or June.

One of my favorite stores is the Compleat Strategist near King of Prussia. They usually have a Cthulhu item that I'm looking to purchase and also a lot of boardgame expansions. I love that place!

Getting together some time would be awesome! I've heard of the Compleat Strategist, but I don't think I've been there. There haven't been any hobby or gaming stores in Philly that I could find for a long time, and I don't have a local group for tabletop roleplaying. I don't have a car, so I'd have to take SEPTA to get anywhere that isn't within walking distance.

OK Mr. Handy, I don't expect to be coming into Philly until perhaps mid-April at the earliest, but I'll plan something out and send you a few options. Perhaps you could take SEPTA to the King of Prussia area and I'll meet you at the nearest train station? Then we can hit the Compleat Strategist and I'll drive you back down into Philly. If you have a favorite restaurant in Philly (nothing fancy or expensive), even a diner or cheesesteak joint, then we can go there upon our return to the city. This'll be a fun diversion!

Feel free to suggest anything that you'd like to add to such an agenda. :)

Sounds good to me. It would have to be during a weekend, since I work during the week. Sometimes I have plans on the weekend, but I'm far more likely to have time free on Sunday than Saturday. I don't know what The Compleat Strategist's hours are, though.

Something else we can add is playing games. I have a huge collection of board games. While most of them can be played solo, they can also usually be played multiplayer and I seldom get the chance. Tabletop roleplaying is also a possibility, though options are limited with just one other player. I don't have much table space (still need a bigger table), but the community room in my building has big enough tables or there's always the floor. I could run a scenario from Monophobia if you haven't read it, as those scenarios were designed for a single player. I'd just need to print it out and find some time to prep and reread it. In addition, I have a PS3 with two controllers and quite a few games.

That will work! Coming on a Sunday is fine. I'm likely to bring along my daughter (she plays Camille in BtMoM) since she loves visiting the Compleat Strategist, so we'll have three players for a boardgame or RPG. I've heard of monophobia, single session CoC scenarios I think, but I don't have it. I'd love to play through one if you're willing to read and prep one! Remember, there's no pressure on you since we won't be visiting for at least a month (or more if you need extra time).

Great! Monophobia is a collection of three (excellent) scenarios designed for one player and one Keeper. I've read them (I've even been planning to adapt one or more as a solo adventure that can be played without a Keeper), but I'd need to reread a scenario and print it out from the PDF if I were going to run it. With two players, I'd go for a different one. The Haunting would be ideal, as I'm familiar enough with it, but I don't know if you've already played it. I have four pregens ready to go in case you want to skip character creation in the interest of saving time. I haven't read the other published scenarios I own yet in case I ever get to play them, as I don't want to spoil myself.

I also have a few scenarios of my own creation. I could run you through my first Doctor Who/Call of Cthulhu scenario, The Terror Out of Time, if you haven't read the playthrough in the Hall of Fame. I also created a Stargate scenario called Heart of Stone, as well as a Sanctuary scenario that's a prequel set in 1889 London called Shadows and Fog. I made pregens for both of them. Those scenarios are designed for four or five players, but I can NPC extra characters that aren't picked. They use the CoC rules, but they're not actually Mythos-based (unlike The Terror Out of Time, which is).

Unless you tell me otherwise, I would expect that James would have been socializing with the crew after the "Crossing the Line" ceremonies, and therefore he would have been near the main group in the Ship's Mess, and would have seen and/or heard Starkweather, or would have seen and/or heard the yelling from Father Rucker. In other words, he's in perfect position to run into the poisonous gas! ;)

Keep the faith, Ewoklord!

And just to clarify, based on the rules for the ammonia gas that I referenced earlier, if Starkweather rolls greater than a 95 on 1d100, then he falls to the floor, unable to help himself (similar to what happened to Katie and Doug). If he rolls between 86 and 95, then he must get to the main deck immediately and would need to drop Doug to do so (which would not be good for Doug...).

I'm reluctant to make Starkweather's next roll. I hesitate when my cursor is hovering over that "Roll the Dice" button...

James continues to do well!

Although hmm, I wonder if Doug's body took any damage from Starkweather's rough treatment, being pulled and heaved around a corner in the reefer hold...
Job wrote:"Uhhnn," James groaned as he sat up, rubbing the back of his head...
I guess that this proves that Starkweather does have a thick skull!

That is an excellent question, Roy!

I'm afraid that I lost my train of thought after the Captain found out about the saboteur and issued his lockdown order, a couple of pages back in the Chap 5 Panama to Australia thread. Geez, I must've had a senior moment. Thank you for prompting me on it. I need to post some responses, seamen rushing about, expedition members being escorted to their cabins, etc., etc.

I'll either post this response (along with a couple of others) on Friday or Saturday; unfortunately I"m buried with work today and tomorrow night.

Again, thanks for the reminder.

Hello everyone,

Sorry for my limited posting over the past few months. It's been a very busy time at work (4 software releases in 3 weeks, along with dozens of defects to troubleshoot) and I've also had quite a number of family activities for the summer.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel though. Tomorrow night is my last major work release until November. And I have no personal trips planned until November. So, barring any tentacular assaults, my preoccupations should soon be easing up, starting with this weekend.

I'm writing this from my phone. My laptop's keyboard is causing a lot of trouble. It thinks that my <escape> key is constantly and repeatedly being pressed. I've ordered a new keyboard but it hasn't yet arrived. So my posts are a bit delayed. A USB keyboard doesn't act any better, so the problem may be even deeper. Wish me luck (that it's only my keyboard)

Mr. Handy is correct, Anatomist. The storm is about the volume of a freight train thundering past, so you would not be able to hear them. You might feel the thumpings of the engines rolling about, but they're mixed in with numerous other bumps, crashes, and grindingS.

I have good news! I received my replacement keyboard (shipped from Hong Kong, China) this weekend and spent most of Sunday installing it and performing stability checks on my laptop's CPU and GPU. The keyboard is now working just fine, so I'm able to now use my laptop for Play@YSDC posts.

Unfortunately, not everything is fixed. I'm still experiencing the occasional blue-screens-of-death and have traced them to a faulty GPU. I'm now bidding on a replacement for that.

But I can now continue the story without tremendous frustrations! I'll be back posting this weekend.

Hey all, this is just a note that I am caught in the web of social responsibilities for the holiday season. Since Thanksgiving, my free time's been consumed with family gatherings, cooking, cleaning, shopping trips, parties, and soon a trip to California to visit with my Mom. I suspect that I'll have little time to do much writing before the new year.

I hope that everyone builds excellent memories during this holiday season, and that we all have a very Cthulhu New Year! :)

Thank you, everyone, for your kind words. I'm only now seeing all of your responses, and I appreciate every single word. Thanks. And I am very sorry for the long pause.

Inevitable changes.

After a period of quiet, and family gatherings, and the ebbing of sadness, I've begun to feel the pull back to adventure. And creativity in writing. I would like to make sure that our conclusion, our ending, is written.

When I read through even a few pages of our story, I usually smile. That alone is worth continuing and seeing what happens in the cold.

I hope to find that at least a few of you are still around, and still anxious to reach our goal.

I think we just wanted to find what was wedged among the fuel containers, which turned out to be the explosives. Now that we've found them, though, we may want to look for further evidence (or more explosives) once we've taken care of them before we see the prisoners.

And then I met Mr. Handy and the two of you have been the creative writers who've kept me here, smiling and chuckling and crafting our story ever since. I really do enjoy my time writing with you folks! :)

I've tried a couple of times to join a story wherein the two of you have been fellow players, but those two stories each fizzled out within 6 months. Maybe one of these times, we'll find a dedicated keeper who'll stick it out and run us through a fun adventure together.

Thanks! It's good to see you back, and I enjoy writing with you too. I remember when Gomez started Masks of Nyarlathotep, but unfortunately it fizzled out before we got anywhere. He returned last year, but he started Tatters of the King on another site instead of picking up Masks again. Unfortunately, he disappeared again before that game got very far.
