IC-OMAHA-The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner(Piauyu)

Z-Day + 1 - 7:06 AM Central Time - Abandoned House, Omaha, Nebraska
In the dining room-
Piauyu Deertrack sat down at the dining room table, finishing her breakfast of bread and milk. Yesterday had been the most terrible day she had ever experienced, and she was still shaken from it. She had had to do an awful lot of running to stay away from the ever-growing hordes of infected, so it was good that she excelled at it. Escape from the city had proven impossible. In the morning, the National Guard had cordoned off the city and refused to let anyone out. Their positions had been overrun as the day wore on, but by then there were too many infected and there was no way past them. She had taken shelter in this abandoned house late in the afternoon and holed up here. The power had gone out shortly afterwards, at around 4:45 PM. She knew that because the clocks had stopped at that point. The digital clocks went blank, but there was one analog clock whose hands still showed the time at which they had ceased. She had barricaded the house securely, but none of the infected had found her here. All of the food that remained was perishable, so it wouldn't be good for much longer.

"'Ak'eed!"
(fuck)

Piauyu's face fell into the palms of her hands as she finished her piece of bread and the milk she was fortunate to find. She was grateful for what little she had and the fact that she was still alive clearly meant that the Holy People still listened to her cries and had shown her mercy the night before as many others in the city had perished. She pulled out her knife and stuck the point of it into the table and began to twirl it around with her fingers..

In the dining room-
Piauyu finished her meal. She had no idea what had happened in the city overnight, but obviously she wouldn't be able to stay here forever. The food in this house wouldn't last beyond today, and without electricity it got cold at night. She would need to make some decisions about what to do.

Piauyu will walk to the second story of the house and will attemp to find a window that will give her a vantage point of the neighborhood.
If I can survive another day before I leave I would prefere that.

From the window she hopes to see a store or another home near by that seems to be free of the dead walkers.

In the living room-
Piauyu made her way through the house. Though it belonged to strangers, it had become familiar to her. Were the original owners still alive? Were they roaming around trying to eat people? There was no way to know. She reached the stairs and hurried up them to find an upstairs window, as she had boarded up all the ground floor windows the night before.

Piauyu came to the top of the stair well and turned to the bedroom closest to the stairs. Passing through a room that may have belonged to a teenage girl. She steps over the mounds of various magazines and makes her way towards the window where she peers out across the dilapidated landscape.

In the bedroom-
Piauyu saw a group of people in the street outside, some distance down the block. There were two men in what looked like full riot gear armed with rifles, a man and a woman in suits and ties, and another man and woman wearing more casual clothing. They all seemed to be looking around.

Piauyu instantly crouches down out of sight from the window and puts her back against the wall.

bilaganna..the ones the sun forgot..I can't let them find me here as their taint will only attract the dead walkers..

Without hesistating Piauyu will run back down the stairwell, will attempt to grab whatever belongings she has left and will make her way to the back door of the home..

In the alley-
Piauyu made her way swiftly through the house, back out to the hallway, down the stairs, through the dining room and the kitchen, and out the back door. She found herself in an alley that stretched to the left and right. Other back doors of other houses lined it on both sides.

I can't stay out here for long...

She will keep and eye out for any of the walking dead while making her way to one of the near by houses. She will check to see if the door can be opened or find another entrance.

In the alley-
Piauyu tried several of the back doors in the alley, but they were all locked.

In the alley-
There were some windows at ground level, though many of them were boarded up. Still, there were some that weren't, though they were locked as well and it was impossible to see inside with the curtains drawn.

The thought of drawing attention to herself by breaking a window was unsettling at best however the need for food was overwhelming

May the holy people give me safety and a I pray it is only their ears that hear my motions

Piauyu will look for a rock or brick and once found will use it in an attempt to break a street level window in an attempt to find further refuge

In the alley-
Piauyu found a rock easily enough and smashed one of the windows open. Pushing the curtains aside, she saw a deserted kitchen through it.

In the kitchen-
Piauyu climbed into the kitchen of the house she had broken into, which looked much like the one in the house she had just left, only with different patterns on the wallpaper and the linoleum. Everything looked clean and undisturbed, and a doorway led further into the house. A dining room was visible beyond it.

Piauyu will keep a keen ear in an attempt to detect any noise and confident(or perhaps rather her hearing is failing her) that she hears nothing she will make her way towards the dinning room of the house, with her knife drawn just in case.

In the dining room-
The dining room proved to be equally empty. Beyond it, through an open archway, was the living room, which was also deserted. The front door led outside from there, and there was also a staircase in the living room leading upwards.
