Z-Day + 1 - 7:06 AM Mountain Time - Warren Air Force Base, west of Cheyenne, Wyoming
In the operating theater-
The medical staff had brought Sally to a large, fortified building in the rear compartment of a medical Stryker. They helped her down the ramp and into the parking lot, which was surrounded by razor wire and warning signs. Security Forces were posted at the entrance with M16s, and there were snipers on the roof. There was evidence of damage to the building's exterior.
Captain Claire Kelleher led the way into the building, followed by Lt. Sara Evans and Lt. Barbara Ellison assisting Sally. They passed through a vestibule and then an intake area, and finally through a set of swinging double doors at the back. On the other side was a large operating room with two more sets of double doors in the left and right walls. The nurses helped Sally onto a gurney while Claire wheeled over an X-Ray machine that had been set up. There was also a lead-lined screen next to it.
"Okay," said Claire. "Here we are. Are you ready to have your leg X-rayed, Sally?"
