Greg tried to climb out of the smoke, but just as he thought he was about to get above the smoke he took a big breath, but instead of clean air, nothing but smoke. He falls to the floor coughing and hacking.

OOC:   I am guessing another HP lost, please update Greg appropriately.

On the ground Greg feels like his chest is cracking open and he is finding it increasingly hard to breath. He notices parts of his clothes are slowly smouldering despite having splashed water over them.

Out of the corner of his eyes he notices Alex starting to ascend on the rope but his progress seems painfully slow.

Greg slumps to the ground, accepting the inevitable fate that is awaiting him, "No, save yourself." He says between coughs.

Climbing to the top Alex rushes around the small ledge moving straps and carabiners about. He then drops the end of the rope and starts hauling up the other end, yelling as he does so for Greg and JAcob to clip on.

Jacob clinging to the rock face draws in racking breaths of clean air below him he can see the area around Greg getting lighter and lighter and the motes of fire seem to be concentrating around him.

OOC:   One last pair of CON and LUCK rolls from Greg please

Liz watches in horror, her lip quivering and her eyes brimming with tears. "Greg!" she cries when she sees him collapse. There's nothing she can do for him, though, so she has to count on Alex to pull him to safety. "Should...should the rest of us start up towards the next ledge now? That smoke is still rising."

Greg can barely contain the coughing. He has seen this before, smoke inhalation kills people long before the fire in a building usually does. He just never thought this was how he would die, in a cave in Albania of all places. He almost chuckled as he thought, how the hell did he end up here of all places. What would his mom think, or say? What would the team tell his parents, or would they. "Sorry ma'am your son died in Albania just feet from us, but we were unable to retrieve his body." Everything was becoming so surreal, so unnatural.

There it was dangling in front of him, all he had to do was reach out and grab the harness. Another spasm of coughing wracked his body. He willed his arm to reach out to the straps. The pain to do anything, the lack of oxygen in his body screamed at his muscles and mind. Was it real, or just his wishful thinking? He could hear them yelling from above. Greg remembered the good things in life, his family, friends, saving people's lives. He had done important worik, a tear streaked down his cheek as he reached out....

As Greg reaches for the harness another spasm of of coughing overcomes him (losing another hp, please adjust) but as he falls his arm falls into the harness. He feels the cloth of the straps wrap around his arm. He holds on as tight as he can, hoping the others can haul him up.

Jacob, above the smoke catch the rope with one hand and tries with his other hand to grab Greg, hopefully, the last will catch the rope. If he fails he will start to climb up to sve his life.

No when they are clipped on everybody pull. Also you fall, and you and <aria will be together. Says Alex to Liz

OOC:   If Liz, Alex and Andy all pull together they can pull either man up without issue, its STR 32 vs Siz 22 (Avg St/Sz) if they want to bring both men up they can probably do that as well (75% Chance.) But lets let Ben and Royya handle what goes down on the cave floor.

A slumped Greg appears through the smoke his jacket now smouldering as Jacob grabs hold of the passing rope he hears the young doctor mutter a litany of names under his breath before his body is wracked by all to familiar coughing. Above the trio of Alex, Andy and Liz haul on the rope slowly but steadily dragging to smoke blacked pair up and onto the now disconcertingly packed ledge.

OOC:   After damping down their clothes and putting out any hint of fire, the two men slowly recover although their breathing is laboured and they are clearly physically drained by the experience. I didn't bother asking ofr Die rolls, If Liz, Alex and Andy all pull together they can pull both man up without any real issue, its STR 32 vs Siz 22 - 75% chance

As Greg tumbles onto the small shelf he continues to cough. His jacket smoldering with embers flaring up here and there. He tries to breath in gulps of air, but then coughs that much more.
"Than..." is all he gets out before falling into another bout of coughing.

[Mr. Handy]

Liz helps to haul Greg up and onto the ledge, her muscles straining. She uses her own jacket to beat out the small fires.

Good job, god bless us, that was on the edge.
Jacob takes a breath and pads on Greg's shoulder as he sits on the ledge and curse silently what ever was own there.
Seems we need to confront those who chant.

"Are you sure that's a good idea?" asks Liz. "We almost died down there, and we already got what we came for."

The five of you shuffle about on the ledge, the smoke rises but is still 15 - 20' below the ledge by the time you are happy it has ceased to rise any further.
