CH3-03 Photo Recognition

Liz, Alex and Greg rush to the bottom of the rock face and the waiting rope, the smoke is thick now like a as are the sparks and embers swirling through it. Jacob catches up moments later and pauses to cough up what feels like a lump of ash. As Liz pinches out a lock of suddenly burning hair, Greg dashes water down his jacket sleeve as it starts to smoulder. Alex flicks burning ashes off his hand as he struggles to untangle the ropes.

OOC:   Who is first on the line. Can I have another set of CON rolls from everyone. Also please remember to deduct 1HP if you failed the CON roll this or last turn.

Liz hurriedly straps herself into the harness.

OOC,[b]Alex[/b] has already said [b]Liz[/b] should go first, and she agrees. I'm guessing [b]Greg[/b] probably won't object, but I think he should go second, as he doesn't have many HP either. CON x 5 roll (50% stat) to avoid damage, round 2: [dice]0[/dice]

OOC:   Andy will wait on the ledge... he'll help if he can... but I don't think it's possible. Also keeping an eye out for any activity from above/adjacent caves.

OOC:   OK, anyone who doesn't fail their CON roll may assist in hauling Liz up, if you fail your coughing your lungs up from the smoke or breathing in burning sparks its 1pt DAM either way. if no one is available to help its a Climb roll from Liz Those of you on the ground are left with the distinct impression that whoever is left to go up last will be in a very poor situation.

Andy can vaguely see Liz on the bottom of the rope. if no else can help he could grab the rope and haul her up himself, but as long as there are people on the bottom all he can really do is stop the rope catching on obstructions.

Greg catches another spark and does his best to put it out while he coughs on the smoke.

OOC:   That is 2 HP I''ve lost. But I can't update my character, you will have to do that.

Alex coughs some black muck up, but manages to keep hauling on the rope as Liz scrambles up the cliff face. At the top Andy unclips her and she stumbles out of the harness gulping down lungfulls of clean air.

OOC:   Alex CON [dice]0[/dice] Who is next on the rope? CON rolls please. - Remember, if you are coughing up black shit or putting out flames you cant help.

Liz lowers the harness again for the next in line, ready to help Andy haul him up to the ledge. "Send Greg next!" she calls below between coughs and gasps. "He looks in a bad way." She wipes the sweat from her brow. "Phew! For a bit I thought I'd be a Lizbecue. When I wished I were smoking hot, that wasn't what I had in mind!"

OOC:   Actually both Jacob and Greg are looking in a bad way.

Greg reaching for the rope, "Can you pull us both up?"

OOC:   Neither Alex on his own at the bottom or Liz and Andy at the top would have much chance pulling up both Greg and Jacob at the same time. Basically, at the bottom you have the advantage of using a pulley at the top its raw strength (not something either Liz or Andy have in abundance.) You cant do both. Either, might be able to do it...but failure is going to be unpleasant, in a broken bones type way Can I have an idea roll from Greg, Alex or Jacob please. Can I have CON and LUCK rolls please from everyone still on the cave floor.

OOC,Yeah, they're both in bad shape, but [b]Greg[/b] looks like he's got fewer HPs. Plus, he's the doctor, so it will be worse for everyone if he goes down.

Greg is two distracted by the burning ashes to think clearly about the best way for them to escape, he coughs as he swallows another burning piece of ash, and pours more water over his sleeve as he see's it start to smoulder.

OOC:   Can I have an IDEA, CON and LUCK roll from Alex or Jacob please. ...or your thoughts as to how you should escape.

Jacob looks around, maybe he can run to another side and away from the *smog*

OOC:   Perhaps climbing above the smoke is an option? If you could climb up a few metres, finding a place to 'hang on' and wait for the rope to be passed back down?

OOC:   Thinking it through Jacob believes if Alex goes up first, as the strongest he could either help pull Jacob and Greg up together (with Liz and Andy's help) or he could spend a bit more time sorting the rope out so you could belay from above (pull them up more easily, safely and effectively) Andy's right those on the cave floor could climb above the smoke (although from Liz and Andy's POV the smoke is clearly rising, slowly rising, but still rising.) However, a fall from that height is probably going to hurt a lot more.

Greg attempts to free climb the wall enough to get above the smoke. "Hurry Alex," is all he says as he concentrates on his hand and foot holds.

Unable to keep his grip on the slippery rocks, he slides back down to the bottom.

OOC:   I only missed by 3% so I had myself slide back down, but if I should fall and take damage, just let me know.

OOC:   BTRat: Yep IMO if you fail a first climb roll by any number it simply indicates, you have no idea where to start,or similar. So your post is fine, you'd only damage yourself you fumbled. Royya is Jacob not going to try and climb above the smoke. PappaG can I have either an easy climb roll - don't fumble. - I'll make all PappaG's roll if he doesn't respond in the next 24hrs All on the cave floor can I have a CON roll please.
