OOC:   The papers aren't really something you can read in a few minutes, these are thesis documents 100000+ words. Reading them to get an idea of their contents is probably several hours work

Liz clearly hears Andy shouting from the ledge high above them

DANGER ... Get back up here...I can see something else moving down there, something moving towards you .. Get up here now!

"Andy just warned us that something's down here, coming towards us," hisses Liz to the others, already moving for the rope. "We need to get back up fast."

Lex hooks Liz into the caribina whilst instructing the others Quick, put papers in rucksuck. Liz take papers. The rest have guns ready. You go!

Greg doesn't hear Andy at the top of the ledge but hears Liz when she announces something is coming towards him. Moving back to the ledge and pulling out his gun. His flashlight flashing around the cave. "I don't see anything."

Liz hastily stuffs the bundles of papers into her rucksack while Alexei fastens the hooks. Once she's secure, she tugs on the rope once to signal to Andy to start pulling her up, and she tries to help make his job easier by finding handholds and footholds on her way up the rockface, being sure to avoid the outcrop again.

As Liz stuffs the papers into her rucksack and prepares to move back to the rope. She feels a pin pick on her hand were one of the floating sparks lands on her hand, She looks up as Jacob slaps the back of his neck, Greg irritably brushes something out of his hair and Alex pulls at his collar as though something has just slipped down it. Looking around you all realise that the smoke and sparks you have seen drifting across the cavern is drifting through and around where you stand. But the numbers of sparks in the smoke seems to have increased as though somewhere in the cave someone is lit a huge bonfire (clearly not the case)

"It's a fire thingie!" gasps Liz, hustling to the rope so she can get back up to the ledge, "Get your water ready!" She takes out her own bottle of water.

OOC,I'd started heading for the rope a couple of posts ago. I thought I was already there.

OOC:   Mr Handy, Yeah I see you said "Already heading back" and PappaG's post has him clipping you on, but both of you were jumping the gun somewhat, not that much time has actually passed due to the infrequency of others post. The way I read your post was in her head Liz has decided to turn back and starts to get herself in a position to do so. I should have told PappaG that was the case. if only because from my point of view you are all down on the cave bottom to search and thus would all have been around the body, so he has to get back to the rope as well.

On top of the ledge Andy can see the others moving towards the base of the cliff and the rope. From this distance it seems as though they are crawling but he has no doubt they are moving as fast as they can.

Andy,around them the smoke is rolling towards them, flashing with sparks. To Andy it looks as though he is looking down on a slowly moving pyroclastic flow, one which seems to change direction as the others move towards the rope.

Everyone on the ground,below the smoke starts to thicken around you, but if anything your surroundings become lit with a diffuse golden light as more and more sparks an motes of light swirl around you, some seem to merge resulting in small flames which flash across surfaces momentarily. Sometimes those surfaces are you. Can I have a CON roll from everyone CONx5 or less, or take 1pt of DAM.

"I'm not sure this is the fire things, I think this is different." Greg says. Water battle in one hand pistol in the other. He pulls his bandana up over his nose and mouth in case the smoke gets too thick.
"hurry up there," he yells as the smoke gets closer.

Panicked, Jacob looks around. Liz blocks the way up. Is there anywhere else to flee ?

Liz covers her mouth and nose as she races through the smoke, avoiding the worst of it and the sparks.
