"I was thinking of something a bit more subtle than that, Nicholas," says Laurence. "We say that we were run down by a horse-drawn carriage, but we don't mention the phantom part. Then we ask if this sort of thing happens around these parts often."

Nicholas shrugs, "You don't have a sense of humor do you? As funny as it would be to see the doctor's reaction to a phantom carriage, I doubt he'd believe us but you never know. Hell just a few hundred years ago, that would probably be an omen that death was coming for you. If one of us was killed by it I bet it would have stopped and taken that person's soul, spirit, essence, whatever you want to call it."
