Legend-haunted Arkham

In the latter part of the Aeon When the Stars Are Not Right, a Ghoul stumbles upon a lethal secret. His colleagues assemble a band of monsters-turned-investigators to avenge his death. In a twisted version of Call of Cthulhu, the players are the unspeakable terrors learning just how insane the terrestrial race is.

OOC,Okay, I'm sort of confused. All I know is I failed my Knowledge: Human roll. I'm not sure what the consequences were. Sorry if I'm missing something completely obvious but I'm a bit lost :S

OOC,Argyle, like every other character, arrived at the house of a human cultist in diguise. If you had been, say, humans arriving at the headquarters of an organization in disguises you had made, you would have had to roll Disguise. However, that just didn't seem right to me, since you are all wearing perfect disguises put on by experts. If Yof-thas guesses your identities, it will be by your nonhuman behavior. So, in order to maintain the charade of being human before Yof-thas, everyone had to roll Knowledge: Human to avoid doing something that will give him a clue. One failure would not have given you away completely, but it would have put you in interesting circumstances. With his critical failure, Argyle had done something that would be horrifying or impossible for a normal human being, revealing to Yof-thas that he is dealing with stranger guests. For example, Argyle might suddenly unsheath his claws, causing them to rip out of his gloves, or he could open his mouth and extend a foot-long tongue, or he could say or do something frightening to contemplate.

As Jahee shouts in Reason, the cultist falls on his knees.

"It is so difficult to tell! I've tried to serve Great Cthulhu, but I am only human!"

He keeps his down, staring at the carpeted floor beneath.

"What do you want of me?" he demands.

"All we want is for you to follow your instructions," says Y'nkee calmly in English. "Arrange a meeting for us with Professor Dimmesdale. If there are further things we require of you, we will let you know."

"It will take me some time to do this...I will find his house and visit it myself, tonight. Do you want me to tell him anything about you?" the Cultist asks.

"You can tell him that we are seekers of knowledge, like himself," says Y'nkee. "We have knowledge that he would be interested in learning, in exchange for what he can tell us. I'm hoping that will intrigue him enough to agree to the meeting. As a scholar, he will find it hard to resist the lure of secret knowledge. We should hold the meeting here, at your house."

-Ask the human to discover if the professor has some family. If he has, we can kidnap them and persuade him to come to us.

"We should only resort to that if necessary," Y'nkee subvocalizes to Tscchh in Reason. "He may very well be willing to share what he knows without such measures, and if he is the information will be more complete and accurate." In English he continues. "We also would like you to dig up any information you can find on the professor, on the Internet and elsewhere. We need to know everything about his studies, his interests, and any family members he has."

-Of course, we don't need to enrage the local priests. But I doubt they would missed much of him, he doesn't seem to have lot's of powers; probably just know how to make some rituals to the local peasants.

Y'nkee nods. "We will return for the information and to find out the details of the meeting tomorrow evening," he says.

Tschh makes a scary look, then leave the house.
-So, are all the humans like that? Seems things haven't change a lot in the last milions of years. I bet if we had cut his hand, he would be even more helpful.

-We can go to peasant hut, terrorize the owners and force them to mantain us until tomorow. Or we can try to see a bit of the humans how they are, since it seems nobody have a clue about them.
