Legend-haunted Arkham

In the latter part of the Aeon When the Stars Are Not Right, a Ghoul stumbles upon a lethal secret. His colleagues assemble a band of monsters-turned-investigators to avenge his death. In a twisted version of Call of Cthulhu, the players are the unspeakable terrors learning just how insane the terrestrial race is.

Y'nkee looks around as he makes his way to the parlor, but doesn't notice anything unusual. He takes a seat on one of the couches and begins to speak, continuing in English and subvocalizing to his companions through his throatpiece to translate what Yof-Thas says for the benefit of those who do not know the language.

"Let us get down to business, then," says Y'nkee, his speech and mannerisms convincingly human. "Allow me to introduce Miss Pickman." He indicates the female Ghoul. "There is a man in Arkham, one Professor Dimmesdale, who has information that we seek. We need to speak to him, but we cannot make contact with him directly for various reasons. That is where you and your congregation come in. We request that you establish friendly contact with the professor and arrange a meeting between him and us on neutral ground."

"I've never heard of this "Professor Dimmesdale"," replies Yof-thas, "but there are a lot of university professors at Miskatonic I don't know. What is it about him that makes him impossible to contact by telephone or e-mail?"

"We cannot rule out the possibility that the professor is being monitored," says Y'nkee. "We would rather not risk having telephone calls or e-mails intercepted."

The cultist jumps out of his chair when Tschhh shouts suddenly. Frightened, he responds quickly.

"I can meet him myself. It won't be a problem."

After a few moments, he continues more cautiously, spooked by his odd guests but still unable to put his finger on anything,

"Erm...I wasn't aware you were my superiors."

Jahee talks to his colleagues, "He appears to be disorientated - perhaps we ought to reveal our true selves?"

"I don't think so," subvocalizes Y'nkee into his throatpiece. "Humans can react unpredictably when they see us as we truly are." He continues audibly and in English. "Tschhh here is also a priest, one of high status. He may seem odd, but his powers and his dedication to Great Cthulhu are considerable."

Argyle stares down the human, still holding the revolver with his hand inside his coat. What were those noises we heard earlier when we were coming in?

OOC,Has Argyle rolled Knowledge: Human?
"I can get a glass from my kitchen..." Yof-thas begins, then scurries off.

He returns, and cautiously places the glass on a table in front of Tschhh.

"I didn't hear any noises earlier, but you might have heard me stomping around and slamming the doors. It was...never mind."

Tschh takes the glass of water, touch the water, freez it, being sure that Yof-thas see it (and spend 5 magic points with that) so he may see that Tschh really have powers. .

The cultist looks eagerly at the glass once it becomes clear Tschhh is working some kind of spell. He stares into the cold mist that begins to surround it, and jumps when the water freezes suddenly with a crack. Pieces of glass fly out around the room, as the water's instantaneous expansion breaks the container before it can bulge out of the top.

Then he notices Argyle...
OOC,Alright! First critical failure! Argyle, you can pretty much do whatever you want in RPing this.

Jahee stares at Argyle in surprise at his lapse. To Argyle: "And I was trying so hard to appear human!" Out loud, the sound of Jahee's words (to Yof-thas) are: "Glub blibbar qwerty ping!"

As Argyle speaks his fangs protrude from his mouth, slurring his speech to the human slightly. He raises a hand to cover it, and as he does his claws extend from his fingers.

OOC,Argyle has to actually do something. What kind of Keeper would let you get off role-playing this? If you're actually stuck for inspiration, I'll use my Keeper powers to edit something appropriate into your post, but don't make me do it.
