Legend-haunted Arkham

In the latter part of the Aeon When the Stars Are Not Right, a Ghoul stumbles upon a lethal secret. His colleagues assemble a band of monsters-turned-investigators to avenge his death. In a twisted version of Call of Cthulhu, the players are the unspeakable terrors learning just how insane the terrestrial race is.

"That is one possibility! No-one is home. Waiting outside is a complete waste of our time. Let us just force the door," says Jahee impatiently.

OOC,Even if you come to a consensus on your actions, someone has to actually say that his character does something before it gets done.

-So at least he is not a high-priest or he would be living in a palace. He must probably just have one or two slaves that are with him. We could ask to one of his neighbors where is the temple of the cult that he belongs.

"His neighbors may be completely unaware of the cult," says Y'nkee. "He needs to keep it secret from other humans. Before we break in and risk antagonizing the human we want to help us, one of you should try to establish mental contact with him. He may not be home at all, in which case there's no reason to go inside, but you might be able to detect his location if he is not. On the other hand, he may be home and simply not answering his door."

-Don't know? Why? Don't the humans have temples to the Great Old Ones? Well, I will try to make a mental contact with him.

OOC,Which spell/ability are you using? You can go ahead and make the rolls - Luck due to the circumstances, and if you pass, then whatever you would normally need.

"The vast majority of humans are ignorant of the Great Old Ones' very existence," says Y'nkee. "Those that do know of and reverence them build temples, but they do so in secret, so as to preserve the ignorance of their fellow humans. Humans fear and try to destroy what they do not understand, and they frequently slay their own kind. Numbers are not on the worshippers' side; hence the need for secrecy. Only in some places such as Innsmouth are the temples out in the open. The Esoteric Order of Dagon's temple in Innsmouth is truly a wonder. I've often attended services and rituals there."

At first it seems as if he has failed, but suddenly the Ice-Priest feels the connection. Yof-Thas was somehow vulnerable to the control, and now he is barely at the command of Tschhh.
Alright, what are you commanding him to do? You still don't know where he is, but are now pretty sure he is somewhere in his house.

OOC,Everyone roll listen. If you make the roll, read the second bit of hidden text; if not, you hear nothing.
Sounds,In the quiet night air, you hear the sound of wood slamming followed by a shout, both coming from the house. After a time, you hear another, louder sound of wood smashing into wood, this one coming from the front of the house. It is followed by rapid stomping.

Argyle presses his ear to the door. His superior ghoulish hearing picks up something. He quickly draws his revolver. It sounds like a struggle...

Y'nkee can't hear a thing, but he takes the Ghoul at his word. Standing to one side of the door and leaning against the wall, he reaches across and uses his superior strength to force the flimsy back door open.

Beyond the broken door is an unlit basement. To nocturnal eyes, it shows itself to be empty and still. There are some inexpensive-looking tools and pieces of scientific equipment lying around, and an open cabinet contains some mildly occult paraphernalia. An old wooden stairway leads up, presumably to the ground level.

OOC,First I have a question for you - are you currently wearing your disguises? Your weapons are at hand, I'm presuming slung or attached to your bodies in a convenient way (for walking around, not fast-drawing) unless you say otherwise. The psychic rifle is completely silent. Tschhh can roll Read Mind. Since he isn't trying to read an individual's mind, just get an impression of states of mind in a general area, he'll only pick up impressions, not actual thoughts.
