IC Scene 13b: To find a medium

Karl starts with the ads in his own newspaper. He explains the situation and uses his best persuasive abilities, but as soon as he mentions the house is on Narrow Lane, the medium finds a polite excuse to say no and hangs up quickly. The first claimed he just recalled he had a very important meeting in Maryland that he's going to this afternoon and needs to pack and wouldn't have time. The second said he hadn't done that sort of thing for a while and doesn't really want to try. The third, Madame Maxine, seems to gasp when she hears the address mentioned and says:
I'm very sorry. I don't want to get mixed up in that.
ooc: you may continue as the Madame hasn't hung up yet.

"Mixed up in what, exactly?" Karl asks Madame Maxine. "Why is it every psychic around seems to know more about this place than I do, and I'm the one setting foot in the place?"

I'm not exactly sure, but the word has spread amongst us practitioners that the spirit of the place doesn't want to be disturbed, and so we won't put a hand into disturbing it. I'm afraid you will have no luck hiring a medium to work there. If you wish to find a solution to your problem, best look elsewhere. Madam Maxine has decided that that is all you need to know and bids you good day and good luck.
If you are hasty, you think you might find the rest of the team somewhere in the vicinity of the haunted house, as your chats on the phone weren't very time consuming and that's where the party was heading.

Disappointed, Karl rushes to meet up with the others.
