Scene 13a: The Chapel of Contemplation

An old house is shrouded in dark rumours and fearful whispers. Its past residents have all had grisly experiences in there, and the few which are able to speak of it will not. Now, pulled in by the promise of money, several investigators try to find the house's dark secret.

Karl Werner

Karl looked to Calum a bit disappointed with the concept of scouting about forests on a raw hike through unbeaten trails. He was far from the picture of health... a good 100 pounds or more overweight. "Oh well... I don't think that would be wise." He cleared is throat, "I mean... if you want to, that's fine. But I definitely think pouring over this diary is too important to put off any longer. So perhaps while you scout the area, Will and I can learn what we can about the historical background." He smiled, feeling he covered his pathetic slothery well enough for the time being.

OOC,I presume that after driving Marrison to the hospital, Calum still has Marrison's car? And is all the kit Calum and Dan bought in that car's boot?

ooc,Dan wouldn't have a problem lending the car to the others while he's mending - as long as he's in for a fair share of the take in the end. What kit are you referring to though? I'm pretty sure we dumped all the stuff we bought into the house. But if it would have made more sense to leave it in the car...

"Hmmn. I don't want to disappoint you Karl, but if the forest is an option, I'll have to go with that - there's a better chance for getting a photograph to go with the story... Sorry, but I gotta pay the bills," Will explains. "Room on your forest jaunt for one more, gentlemen?" he asks the others.

ooc, that's settled then. Calum has the car, while the kit is in the house. If I'm not mistaken Will and Calum are headed to search for the Chapel, and Michael is to be decided yet. Karl can take Andrew and read the diary to themselves for three days ;) Let's call it two if it's the only thing you'll be doing besides eating and sleeping, but that will take a larger toll on you and you might miss something due to the amount of information.

Calum:

"Will, you are most welcome."

"I'm not going to go back into that house to get any kit until we need it, but I still have my own archeological tools, mostly small brushes and the like. We shall have some nice exploring to do!"

OOC,Given recent experiences, Calum will also bring along his old Army Webley .44 revolver, loaded with five fat bullets, and tucked into his jacket.

OOC,Calum is more than welcome to bring his gun. Let's move forward shall we. Andrew and Karl are off to the hospital to read with Dan if he likes, and I'll have a new topic for them soon. The rest stay here.
The party consisting of Calum, Mike and Will head off to gather some gear and then make their way towards the end of Narrow Lane. As you near your destination, the office building seem to dwindle, and their places are taken by old houses, most of them unoccupied. The road itself seems to deteriorate in time and finally you arrive at the cracked and weed-filled end of the street which seems to vanish instantly and if there ever was any more of Narrow Lane, it is now hidden behind thick bushes. Behind the tall shrubbery some trees are visible. You passed the last derelict house some 500 yards earlier.

Calum:

Calum is in pig heaven, out doing some fieldwork. His mood very evidently picks up.

"Chaps, for the moment I suggest we all stick together. Silly as it sounds, I suspect we could get quite lost in that. We'll probably find some lost Civil war soldiers trying to find their way home."

Calum will pull out a notebook and pencil, and start methodically mapping the little wilderness.

The party enters the bushes. There's still pavement under your feet, but it's very cracked and everything is growing out from between the cracks. As you head into the trees, the undergrowth lightens and there's more space to move and spread out a bit. After about a hundred yards you seem to reach the end of the pavement. It seems a bit arched and under further examination it turns out to be a dead end roundabout.
Roll for Spot Hidden please.

Hey boys, look here. There seems to have been a path here leading away from the road. It's grown over, but it's definitely been heavily used in the past.

Calum:

"Well spotted Mike! Glad one of you was paying attention, I think I was day dreaming!"

"Righto, the game's afoot, let's see what's down this path."

Calum will set off down the path Mike has discovered.

The investigators set off on the old path. The bushes lessen after a few yards and remains that way. After a brief walk you notice something peculiar. It seems to have been a wall some time ago, but it's so weathered and falling apart, that it's hard to tell. You do notice a seemingly fresh mark on the wall. Painted in white, three "Y"s touching with their tops to their two neighbors to forma a triangle. Inside them is painted an eye. As soon as you look at the eye you fee an irritating tingling between your eyes.

Behind the wall are what might be the remnants of the Chapel, it's hard to tell yet.

"I'm going to get a picture of this," Will says, setting up his camera as quickly as he can. "I think I'll need to use flash powder here in the forest. Any idea what this sign might mean?"

There's not that much trees as to warrant using additional lighting. Behind the wall, the growth is sparce.

OOC,Let's agree that rolling is not necessary unless you're doing something outside your specialisation or something that requires uncanny skill. If you have 50% Drive Car, you don't have to roll to see if you can drive it. But if you try to take a sharp corner driving 65mph, you will roll. A photographer taking a still is something he's doon thousands of times and unless I decide the conditions are especially hard, we'll leave the rolling for when the time comes to develop the film and you are insane or really tired.
