IC Arkham Horror

The fabric between dimensions is weakening, and portals to other worlds begin opening all over Arkham, unleashing strange creatures into the city. A band of crazed cultists attempts to summon Yog-Sothoth, putting all of humanity in danger. Psychic author Gloria Goldberg, renowned archaeologist Monterey Jack, and powerful magician Dexter Drake are all that stand in the way of total destruction of all we hold dear. Can they succeed in their desparate race against time?

OOC,Since [b]Monterey[/b] hasn't done the Movement Phase yet, and there's nothing he can do except move to the second area of the Plateau of Leng, I'll do my movement in advance. I won't be able to be online until tomorrow night, so I'd better do it now to keep things moving forward. [b]Dexter[/b] spends 3 movement points moving to the River Docks and the other 2 reading The King In Yellow. [url=http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2068390/]Lore (-2) roll trying to read The King In Yellow (1d6.hits(5)=1)[/url] He succeeds, discarding The King In Yellow, gaining 4 Clue tokens, and losing 1 Sanity.

Dexter makes his way quickly to the docks of the Miskatnoic River, where he hopes to meet a contact to whom he can sell some of the information he has obtained. While he waits for the meeting, he sits on a crate and studies the book he found on the alien creature's corpse. It fills his mind with plenty of knowledge, but it also seems to take something away to make room for it.

Monterey Jack movement turn 14

OOC,I'm having troubles to access the site. And sometimes after writing sentences and pushing the "submit" button the page give an error, anyone else has similar troubles?
Jack after making his walk in the grave felt the same strange feeling he had when he appeared in that other world. But now the landscape was normal: cold and barren. He saw his hands: they were still his hands.
-Ok, where am I now?
Feeling tired, and not seeing anything he decided to sleep a bit. He awaked suddenly in panic, afraid of being attacked by some strange creature, but he was still alone.
-How will I return home??

If you fail, the manuscript is nothing but the insane babbling of a previous renter. Stay here next turn reading it, but gain 2 Clue tokens. **doh!- should not have spent the Clues.**

Mythos Phase - Turn 14,[b]Strange Tremors Cease![/b] Headline: All Chthonians and Dholes in Arkham are returned to the cup. If at least one monster returns to the cup, raise the terror level by 1. Gate does not open at Independence Square due to Elder Sign. Clue appears at The Unnamable and is automatically picked up by [b]Gloria[/b]. Ghoul moves from Southside streets to Uptown streets. Ghoul moves from Southside streets to Uptown streets. Gug moves from Uptown streets to Southside streets. Nightgaunt remains in Sky. [url=http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2070773/]Does the Chthonian cause a quake in Turn 14? (1d6.hits(4)=1)[/url] Chthonian causes a quake. [b]Dexter Drake[/b] loses 1 Stamina. [b]Gloria Goldberg[/b] loses 1 Stamina (unless she successfully casts Flesh Ward). Chthonian returns to the cup. I believe the Dhole does not, as it is in the Outskirts, not in Arkham. The terror level increases by 1, to 2. Ruby Standish leaves Arkham and is removed from the game.
Dexter Drake Upkeep- Turn 15
OOC,[b]Dexter[/b] increases his Sneak from 1 to 3 and decreases his Speed from 5 to 3. I hope you're not counting on me to seal 2 more gates! That'll take a while, even with Find Gate. I suggest that [b]Gloria[/b] grab another Clue from the Black Cave to bring her back up to 5. Then we'll see if another gate opens somewhere. I went ahead and posted in advance, since all [b]Monterey[/b] does in his encounter is to get 1 Stamina back and I won't be able to post again until tomorrow night.

Mythos Phase - Turn 15,[b]Witch Burning Anniversary![/b] Headline: An ancient curse strikes Arkham, releasing 2 monsters into the Rivertown streets. An eighth Doom token is added to the Doom Track. Gate opens at Unvisited Isle to The Dreamlands. A Gug emerges. Clue appears at Science Building. No monsters move. Nightgaunt appears in Rivertown streets. Shoggoth appears in Outskirts instead of Rivertown streets because the monster limit has been reached.
OOC,Next turn Gloria should attempt to sneak past the Nightgaunt to the Plateau of Leng gate. If she fails to evade, she'll be drawn through the gate anyway (after making a Horror check). I'll have to take on the Gug (using the Powder) and go to The Dreamlands. With luck we'll win in three more turns.

Dexter Drake Upkeep- Turn 15
OOC,[b]Dexter[/b] does not adjust his sliders this turn. [b]Gloria[/b] will automatically fail her Evade check, since her Sneak is 2 and the Nightgaunt's Awareness is -2. This means she'll have to make her Horror check and then she'll automatically take combat damage (which in this case is getting chucked into the gate she was heading for anyway). Don't use your Clue tokens! You need all five of them to seal the gate when you get back. [b]Monterey[/b] can fight the Nightgaunt when he moves, after [b]Gloria[/b] goes. He should use the Sword of Glory, as it gets him more dice than the .38 and the whip. He can still use the whip's special ability to reroll a missed die even without devoting any hands to it.

Gloria intuitively knows what the creature will do. She closes her eyes as the awful canine face leers at her, and then in a stream of air the Nightgaunt propels her into an other world.
