OOC,Do we get to see the Act, Agenda, and our starting hands before we choose? It might be best to wait until then before deciding where we start if so.

"All I remember is I had a great time," says Mark, trying the door. "Somehow, I always knew I'd end up locked up in one of these places."
OOC,I got a good starting hand. I'll arbitrarily choose to start in the Western Patient Wing. I'm okay with starting apart, as both starting locations are next to each other, and we can cover more ground and get clues faster if we split up (I might be able to help a little). However, if you'd rather start together, that's okay too.

Withers gives a little amused chuckle.

So deciding he says "I'll head to the east wing, then. You're still close by if needed for any--ah--work"

Turn 1 Investigator Phase

1 Play Image spending 4 resources

Withers unclasps the catch of his Fingerprint Kit's lid, revealing powder in a glass pot, brushes, cellophane, and other bits and bobs.

2 Move ImageImage

He runs his finger tips along the Infirmary's scratched plaque before pushing open its door, briefly imagining the many lost souls who'd found themselves within.

3 Investigate using Fingerprint Kit, spending 1 supply. 5 +1 vs. 3, chaos token tentacles ; poo!

Although the place looks ripe for clues all he achieves is a depletion of his precious powder; cursing silently, he takes a quiet moment in a most comfortable chair, ignoring its leather straps.

Turn 1 Investigator Phase

Mark draws his pistol and tries one of the doors and makes his way into the mess hall. He looks around and finds some interesting writing scratched into one of the tables...as well as another gun. "Can't have too many of those," he says.

OOC,I can live with that for a while. I'm not going to be able to find any more clues any time soon, but I can continue to poke around. Would you like to go first again?

Withers tries the doorknob but it won't turn at all. He feels a chill air seeping round the door, and he guesses that there are cold stone steps leading beneath the asylum; he shivers.

Asylum Halls (Western Patient Wing)

Instead he goes looking for Harrigan but cannot find him in the halls where they parted.

Mark tries the kitchen door, only to find it locked, so he returns to the hall, where he meets Norman Withers. "I found some interesting things in the mess hall. You might want to look around in there. The door to the kitchen was locked, though. I'm going to check out this other door." He heads through it and into the yard, where patients are milling around, and begins to poke about for clues.
OOC,Well done finding the clues and earning the Victory point! 8-) Note that you've spent two supplies from the Fingerprint Kit so far, as you tried last turn and got Tentacles. OOC,I think those are the wrong Asylum Halls versions are in the above post. The ones we started in had no clues. By the way, I finally got around to reading Ire of the Void, the Arkham Horror novel featuring Norman Withers. It was pretty good. I started on the Carolyn Fern one, To Fight the Black Wind, but I put it on hold today because my collector's edition of Lone Wolf Book 26, The Fall of Blood Mountain, arrived.

I’ll change those cards.

I’d like to read it too! I wonder if I can find it online?

Must say this, back in the 80s I was into Fighting Fantasy but my friend Lone Wolf, so I’ve read the first few way back when.

OOC,Draw 1 card and gain 1 resource. I know it can be ordered from Fantasy Flight Games, but shipping may be expensive. I don't know if they have an eBook version. There may be retailers in the UK that carry it, though. I've also been reading Fighting Fantasy since the 1980s, though most of them weren't available in the States. I managed to fill out my collection from the republished editions on various trips to London. I enjoy them both, but I do prefer Lone Wolf. The early adventures were excellent! Some people say Fire on the Water is too linear and anticlimactic, but it's one I really enjoy due to its epic story.

It's £10.50 in online shops, too much for something I'm interested to read but have no desire to possess. BTW I've got FF 1-17 plus a D&D type book which uses the simple FF rules--and got me into AD&D.
