OOC,No problem. Spires of Carcosa stinks, especially since we were in the Lobby which has 4 Shroud. Fortunately, you're capable of investigating here. I guess you'll have to do it, or the Agenda will advance, and we don't need that. If you have a third action left afterwards, that will allow you to move to a new location, and I can follow you so I'll be ready to shoot the Vengeful Hound. I think you should go first so that I know where you end up at the end of your turn and can join you.

3 ? Take advantage of the Box Offices action, but maybe Harrigan needs these resources more than Withers, in which case he'll just gain 1 resource instead...

The Lobby comes over all gloomy (if that is possible, more like gloomier) as well as the rotting corpse Withers has a nightmare image, a slavering, ravenous dog, so he tells two jokes to lighten the mood--a cheeky student had scribbled them inside an astronomy text book
"Does anyone need an ark? I Noah guy!

How do you make holy water? You boil the hell out of it"

He forgets himself for a moment

Opening a door to the Box Office he feels spots of raindrops upon his face. Ah! how refreshing, and then he realises he's still indoors

OOC,Well done! I don't think either one of us should steal from the box office. There will likely be consequences later, such as adding a bad token to the chaos bag permanently. I think it's best if you move back to the lobby. There's nothing else in the box office, and no clues. I'd rather not waste actions going out of my way and back, so it's better if you come back here and join me. We need to be in the same location at the end of the round so I can take down the Vengeful Hound next turn. I can take all three Actions in the lobby.

You're dead right, an extra token could seriously bite us in the bum.

You didn’t kill the hound?—I re-read your comment “next turn” why? ‘cos it’ll attack Withers next phase

OOC,I had thought that the Hound wouldn't be drawn until after this turn, but I looked back at your character card and saw that Weaknesses (and the Vengeful Hound counts as one) are drawn as soon as they're revealed when they're "on deck" for you. When it's drawn, don't you reveal the next card? Since it would have engaged you, you wouldn't have been able to investigate without provoking attacks of opportunity. In that case, I should go first and redo my turn, fighting the Hound. Then you'll be free to do what you did. Is it okay if I save an action by not engaging? I'll only miss on tentacles.

Yes to everything you said. There's been a combination of misunderstandings, chiefly pbp--the card Vengeful Hound not being on a table to remind me it's in play. The card's text prevents Withers from revealing the next one off his deck.

An unearthly beast only superficially resembling a hound charges out of the shadows at Norman, but Mark brings it down with a single shot. Filled with renewed confidence, he shoves aside all his doubts.

Well done!

At last I’ve realised that the confusion was caused by not pointing out that Withers’ Investigator Card says

Image

note the “Forced” text, so Vengeful Hound was in play from the moment it was revealed. With it now dead (hooray!) here is my new revealed card

OOC,I can handle the rats, and with any remaining actions I can check out that other doorway. I can't do anything about the Poltergeist, so you'll have to handle that one. I think I should go first. That way, if the other doorway doesn't have any clues behind it and you have a third action left, you can head to the Theatre in preparation for going Backstage next turn.

Turn 5 Investigator Phase

A horde of rats sweeps down the stairs from the balcony, apparently not having learned their lesson the last time. Mark stomps on them again, and once more they flee. Then he pokes his head into the unexplored doorway before coming back. "The lighting box is in there," he reports. "There may be something of interest in there, but it's too dark for me to see a thing."
OOC,Action 1: Fight. (Combat 5 vs. 1[Swarm of Rats]): [dice]0[/dice] +1, success! Swarm of Rats takes 1 damage and is defeated. 1=Green Room, 2=Lighting Box: [dice]1[/dice] Action 2: Move to Lighting Box. [img]https://arkhamdb.com/bundles/cards/03053.jpg[/img] Action 3: Move to Lobby. You should definitely check out the Lighting Box, as you can find the two clues there. It's too dark for me to have any chance. I'll go poke around Backstage if I can.

2 Image 5 +1[Dr. Milan] vs. 3, chaos token skull -1 ; success!

3 Gain 1 resource

"There is no need to harm us, we are of no account"

and

"Return from whence you spawned, be gone! go and rest again"

And with those two appeals the poltergeist vanished. Withers, surprised but happy, to say the least, sidesteps an errant rat, the confused animal had dodged behind him when its fellows had fled from Harrigan's stomping

"I'll check it out" says Withers, referring to the Lighting Box

Hopefully next turn I'll get those clues in the Lighting Box--Fieldwork[+2] requires another action after moving
