24 hour Movie Mashup Scenario Competition

Here it is, at long last, the member vote for the five finalists for the 2008 Cthulhu Mythos Fiction Contest. Please read the stories before you vote - it's more fun that way, trust me!

Hearty congratulations to the finalists and heartfelt commiserations to the other entrants.

24 hour

Movie Mashup Scenario Competition
2011
The idea of this competition is to have some fun and create something fun to read and something
great to run as a one-shot here at PLAY@YSDC.
Anyone here on the forum may enter the competition.
If you don´t want or can run a game here, I will run the winning scenario after the Holidays.

To participate you need to follow the guidelines below.

The time used to write the scenario: You have 24 hours at your disposal.

The competition takes place: November 30, 21:00 GMT - December 1, 21:00 GMT

What to include:
  • Two movie plots from the list below - mashed together to a new theme. Specify which two movies you base the mashup on.
  • Add a Cthulhu mythos twist to the plot.
2001 IMDB top ten list
1. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
2. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)
3. Donnie Darko (2001)
4. Spirited Away (2001)
5. Monsters, Inc. (2001)
6. A Beautiful Mind (2001)
7. Amélie (2001)
8. The Fast and the Furious (2001)
9. Zoolander (2001)
10. Black Hawk Down (2001)

Submit your entry before the end of December 1 and it is viable for competition.
A competition Email address will be posted at the end of November.
Format: PDF

What to consider when judging the submissions:

Is it clear what two movies have been used for the scenario?
Is the scenario ready to be run as is?
Is there a mythos twist to the scenario?
How is the layout? Is the scenario easy to read?
Last you have to ask yourself if you´d consider to run it.

These things combined should give you an idea as to which submission is your favorite.

Anyone who is a user on the forum may vote on one scenario.

The scenarios will be anonymously posted for user judgment.

Prize: Honor and pride plus the opportunity to run the scenario here on the board.

/Dave

Two days to go before the writing begins. Good luck and let´s see if more than one entry comes in. I´ve decided on which two films to mash into a mythos pulp.

Poor managing on setting up the contest. Too much work in life itself or simply bad timing? Those things made me miss the deadline of my competition. I extend the competition to a 24 days competition - leaving the deadline open till Chrsitas Eve.

That will make my own submission readable here and maybe some other.

Cheers!
