OOC: You find a flashlight.

[Mr. Handy]

Alyssa grins and picks up the flashlight. "Shall we go inside now?" she asks the others.

[welsh]

Luke checks the feel of his .45, then takes the case carrying the shotgun. He nods, "Just in case. Let's go."

[kabukiman]

The door is locked, but it seems fragil. It could be open using some strenght, or trying to use locksmith.

[welsh]

Luke will inspect the lock to see if there is any indication of a trap. Then he will examine the building to see if there is any other way in. "We could force the lock, but it might cause a bit of noise. In any event, breaking the lock would sure suggest that someone unwelcomed had turned up. Might be better if we go in through a window."

[Mr. Handy]

"Yes, you're right," says Alyssa quietly. "We'll force the door only as a last resort." She joins the captain in searching for an alternative entrance.

You both find broken windows where you may enter.

Luke helps remove any dangerous shards of glass and then peeks into the building. "Shine the light inside, so we can have a look." He says to Alyssa. Luke also checks to see where Zack is, making the sure the old man has not wandered off and collapsed.

[Mr. Handy]

Alyssa shines the flashlight inside and closely examines the room on the other side of the window, making sure the light only goes inside and isn't visible from the street. Climbing in there won't be a problem for me, she thinks. Good thing my skirt only goes down as far as my knees.

OOC: Welsh, do you want that Zack enters the building? You will have to make a roll in the resistance table: your strenght against his size (9).

The room where Alyssa enters is fulll of debris. After some time she seem to recognize an old printing machines, all broken. Make an idea roll.

OCC- No, Luke will leave Zack alone. It would be difficult to get him in, but it might be worse to get him out, especially if they have to move fast.

"Hang on a second," Says Luke to Alyssa. "Watch out for rats."

Luke then goes to the truck and fishes out a cup, pours Zack a generous cup of whiskey, and then gives the old fella the drink. "Here ya go, to keep the edge off. If you see someone come along, sing out, ok. And if you want more of this, don't mention you've seen us. Got it?"

When he gets Zack to approve, Luke returns to the window to check on Alyssa.

[Mr. Handy]

Yuck, rats! thinks Alyssa. She isn't afraid of them in the slightest, but she does find them disgusting, and there's a decent chance of running into them in a run-down, decrepit place like this. She surveys the printing room, deep in thought.

Alyssa,The machines were destroyed intentionally even almost a century latter you can see that they were smashed with an incredible violence

[Mr. Handy]

"These machines were deliberately smashed a very long time ago," whispers Alyssa to Luke when she returns to the window. "It probably happened in 1846. I didn't think the locals would be too keen on the press, but this is especially brutal. I hope John Lawrence survived." I hope I do too, she thinks with a shiver.

Luke takes a look around to see if they are being observed, and then slips through the window, carrying the case with the shotgun carefully. He passes a glance over the machines, letting his eyes adjust to the darkness. "Lawrence wasn't keen on the local political status quo? Or maybe he was reporting something the local didn't want known." His voice raises barely over a whisper, "Either way, we're technically trespassing. I am not sure if who ever they are didn't destroy the records. Hell, I don't know why they didn't torch this place and burn the evidence. Either way, if there are records here, I think we should find them. But we need to move quickly. I don't like the idea of being discovered in here by a bunch of characters into human sacrifice and kidnapping, and neither should you. Step careful. This place could have structural damage you don't see."

[Mr. Handy]

Alyssa nods, gulping as the true danger of this place finally sinks in. I'm used to snooping around where I'm not wanted, she thinks, but this isn't Arkham. If I got caught poking about there I could get out of it by flashing my press card and a pretty smile, and speaking the right words. In Innsmouth my press pass is the last thing I want anyone to see, and if I'm caught here I could be abducted by smelly, fishy-looking men who would tie me to some unholy altar and plunge that stolen dagger into my heart - if I'm lucky. "John Lawrence reported the truth about what was going on in Innsmouth," she whispers back, cupping her hand around the flashlight to keep the light from straying to the windows. "Obed Marsh and his ilk wouldn't have liked that. Our best bet to locate records would be to find his office. Maybe we can find out what story they were about to print when this happened. One newspaper office should be laid out much like another." She proceeds carefully searching for the editor's office, watching her step and using the flashlight to reveal any structural weaknesses.

Alyssa's keen eyesight helps her find what she's looking for, and her luck holds out.

You see a door... and a huge hole in the floor just in front of you. You can easily avoid the hole and reach the door.

[Mr. Handy]

"Watch out for that hole," Alyssa whispers to Luke, shining the flashlight on it. She carefully skirts around it to the door and cups a hand to her ear, listening at the door to determine if anything is on the other side. Hearing nothing, she waits for the captain to join her before opening the door.
