Alyssa and Olsen

When Luke reaches Alyssa he takes time to inspect the door. As a long time mariner, he knows that the effect of weather, rot and temperature can damage a door, rotting it away or warping it so that its stuck to the frame. But he also is still keen to check for possible traps. Someone clever could hide a shotgun behind a door making for an unpleasant surprise for anyone who opens it.

"Shine the light here, please." He asks as he inspects the door. "It might be better if you stand back a bit from the door. I should have brought a crowbar. Incidently, you might want to shine a light into the hole and see if there's anything interesting down there. But be careful near the ledge. the floor is probably weak."

Rolls spot hidden?

Alyssa does as she is bid, standing well back from the door and shining her light on it and then into the hole, taking care to stay back from the edge when she looks inside.

OOC,Do you want me to make another set of Spot Hidden and Luck rolls too, or just [b]Olsen[/b]?

OOC: It will be the person who is trying to open the door. Decide between you both and then the One will make the rolls.

Alyssa keeps her light focused on the door and stands well back and to one side as instructed, allowing Captain Olsen to open it.

OOC,Well, you [i]did[/i] say to stay back. :P If that 68 is your Luck roll, that's not as bad. You didn't specify the order on Invisible Castle, but the Keeper asked for "Spot Hidden and Luck," so that's probably the order they'd be applied in.

-You try to open the door and fail to notice that she is all rotten and crumbling; she fall but doesn't hit you (but make a lot of noise, or at least it seems since it's night and the town is in silence).

Alyssa gasps when the door collapses, but is relieved that Luke is unhurt. "Someone may have heard that," she whispers. While keeping her voice down may seem pointless after the noise a moment ago, there's no sense in confirming someone's presence in the building. "Let's see if we can find what we came for quickly, then go."

Luke nods, his fingers on the violin case with the shotgun. But a look around the building. "Perhaps, but I doubt anyone heard it. This place might be old but it probably could keep the sound, unless there is something in this building. Either way, I agree. Best to be quick." Then thinking more about it. "Look, just in case. I got my .45 and the shotgun. If we get in trouble, I am going to give you the shotgun. Its loaded and its easy to work."

Luke gives Alyssa the basic instructions.

"Wait till they are close. Real close. Close enough you can see their fish eyes. Then fire this into their midsection. It will be hard to miss at pointblank range. Otherwise, it will make a lot of noise. Anyone hearing you chamber the round should know what you got in your hands. But don't wait. Run like hell. God knows how many of them there are. We can try for the truck, but if they are on to us, they might see the truck and use that as bait."

"Now I would prefer we didn't have to shoot our way out of it, but if have to, do it. If for whatever reason they still stand after you fire, hit them again. You can feel guilty about it later. I will do my best to get you out of here. But if I don't make it out, go to Bruno and tell him what happened."

Luke considers it for another moment. "I think it might be a good idea to check things out. Frankly, I am feeling a bit useless in here. But if you feel safer with me close, I'll stick close."

[Mr. Handy]

Alyssa nods as she takes the shotgun, gulping. "I understand," she says. "If it's them or me, I'll do what I have to do. I know what could happen to me if they take me, and I'm not going to let that happen. I don't think we should split up, and I don't like the thought of being alone anywhere in this town. And you're not useless. You realized that the door could be dangerous, and you're here for protection. Let's search the office while we can."

OOC: So you enter the other room?

The other room is an archive. You see lot's of journals. Most of them are rotten, but many are still readible.

Alyssa begins to search through the readable papers quickly, looking for anything of interest. In particular, she is looking for anything from 1846, especially anything dated after the last issue she had read in the Innsmouth Courier archives back in Arkham.

Alyssa feels lucky, but she can't find much in the darkness.

You both find lot's of manuscrits. But it will take some time and lot's of lights to read it and to know if they have the information you are looking for.

"It'll take too long to go through all of these here," whispers Alyssa. "Someone might also see the light. Let's just take as many as we can with us that are still legible. When we get to one of those houses on the outskirts we can read them at our leisure."
