John tips his hat to the lady, a very white smile and a twinkle to his eye as he does. Still, figuring her to be Italian, he doesn't try to spark up a conversation. He looks about the signs, but seems a bit perplexed, even taking his hat off to scratch his head a moment as he tries to decipher the unfamiliar language.

Felicity smiles back at he man. Well, isn't he a handsome devil! she thinks, sizing him up. She strides confidently over to him with a jaunty step. "Good day to you, sir," she says with a crisp English accent.

John looks pleasantly surprised as the woman speaks to him in English. "Oh thank goodness," he said turning to face her. "Good morning to you too, my dear. I was so upset when I saw the prettiest girl in Italy and was afraid I'd never be able to tell her," he said with a wink. "All that aside though, I don't suppose you know which way it is to the train station?"

OOC,Am I allowed to read the beginning of this thread now, the part that only involved Oya?

Felicity chuckles. "You must be lost," she says. "It's mid-afternoon already, not morning. I arrived at the train station, and I'll be going back there when I leave Venice. I'm not certain of the route, but I have a map of Venice and can check. You'll probably need a gondola to take you there. If you can't find a gondolier who speaks English, I'm sure the concierge at the hotel can arrange to hire one. Are you leaving now? I don't see your luggage."

John chuckled and blushed ever so slightly, "Well..." he checked his pocket watch, "... I guess you're right. Still on East Coast time." He put his watch away and turned his attention fully to the woman before him, "I didn't pack a lot, just one suitcase, and it is sitting behind this bench," he motioned with a quick head jerk. Sure enough, one over-stuffed suitcase was resting on the ground there behind the bench. "So you're taking the train as well? Is it the Orient Express?" He seems rather excited about it... whether it is the prospect of riding with Felicity, or taking the train itself, it's hard to tell.
ooc,not sure when the train is supposed to arrive at the station.

Yes, you can read Oya's thread.
John has a look at his schedule and sees the Orient Express arrives in Venice at 9:15pm.

"Ah, you're an American," says Felicity. "Yes, I'm riding on the Orient Express. Bit of a holiday, exploring the Continent, and having tremendous fun. I'll be heading to the train station myself this evening, but we may as well go together. I have a good deal of luggage. It's all packed, but I'll need the porters to move it for me."

John smiles, "That would be great! I'm still a little new to all of this travel stuff. I can't wait to leave Italy. I don't know a lick of Italian... Heh, not that I'll fare much better in any other country along the line."

"I'd be delighted," says Felicity. "I've travelled extensively, though I don't know Italian either. I do know French and German, but they won't be all that useful as we proceed eastward."

"Well," John said lifting an eyebrow, "Here's hoping for a train full of English-speaking passengers." He looked at his paperwork again and said, "about 6 hours to kill. Any thoughts on that?"

"It's a bit early for it now," says Felicity, "but I'm sure we can fit supper in there somewhere."

"Sure... why not?" He reached down to pick up his suitcase and looked up and down the street. "Do you have any preferred restaurant?"

"There are a few good ones," says Felicity, "but I'm in the mood to try something new. Guess it's my spirit of adventure."

"Very good," John said approvingly. He looked left and right and suggested, "Let's head toward the train station - where ever that is - and find something along the way."

"Sounds good to me," says Felicity, offering her arm. "I've already arranged for the porters to transfer my luggage to the train, so we can leave now and take one last look at Venice. I'll always remember the great times I had here."

John looks to Felicity and inquires, "Do you think you could add my suitcase to your luggage? That way I won't have to carry it around with me. I mean... only if it isn't an inconvenience."

Your stroll takes you to the train station, where the Orient Express is not expected before several hours.

A few passengers are idly spending time there, probably waiting for the train just like you. You notably notice an Eastern looking man in his mid-30s, smartly dressed, who sits there doing nothing with a patience and composure that forces admiration; a man in his 30s, wearing a suit and a bow tie, talking to an overweight and richly dressed cat lady who appears to be in her 60s; and a very English looking man in his 40s, keeping himself entertained by reading a train timetable.

ooc: Did we eat prior to arriving at the station,or just didn't find some place along the way?
John smiled to Felicity and said, "Isn't this exciting? People of various walks of life packed together in a marvel of technology speeding towards exotic destinations filled with mystery and intrigue..."

"Oh, quite!" says Felicity. "That's what I love so much about travel: meeting fascinating people, exploring unusual locations. Everyone has a story to tell."
