In the guard room-
Sally entered the guard room from the corridor right behind Doc to find Mutt there waiting for her. He now wore a backpack and a second belt. Two other skinheads were present. One of them looked very much like Mutt. The other was a middle-aged man lying on the floor with an obviously broken right leg, gritting his teeth in agony. His jaw that had already been crudely bandaged. She also saw an absolutely beautiful woman standing nearby. She was petite with red hair, and she wore a stunning little black dress. She smiled when she saw Sally.

The room itself was small, with a desk positioned with its back to the corridor from which they had just emerged. The desktop had several magazines scattered upon it. There was another hall at the opposite end of the room, as well as a closed door on the left wall. A red light bulb above the door glowed.

"Good to see you again, Sally," said Mutt. "Here's Hitch. This big guy is my brother Jeff, and this very lovely woman is Katarina. Katarina, I'd like you to meet Sally, our new nurse. And the guy with her is Doc. I don't think you've met him yet either."

"Is very nice to meet you," said Katarina with an eastern European accent. "Your hair, it so beautiful, Sally. I glad you not have to shave it off like the men do." She stared at the nurse's broken leg. "Oh, my! That looks like it hurt. Is everybody breaking leg today?"

"Sure seems like it," said Doc, kneeling over Hitch and opening his medical bag. "Let's have a look at your leg. Does this hurt?" He touched the other skinhead's right thigh.

"Aaugh!" cried Hitch, his voice with a German accent. "Scheisse!"

"Oh, don't be such a baby, Hitch. Sally's got a broken leg too, and you don't hear her bitching and moaning, do you?"

Hitch forced a smile for Sally. "Hello, liebchen," he managed. "You look like an angel. You should be a movie star."

"Well, let's get to work, Sally. We'll put a splint on to start with, then bring him down to the medical lab for a proper cast."

OOC,[b]Sally[/b], roll First Aid to help put a splint on [b]Hitch[/b]'s broken leg. If you succeed, roll 1d3 to see how many HP he regains.

"Nice to meet you to, Katrina." Sally said and gave the woman a warm smile. "My leg does hurt a bit, but I'm managing with it."

"Okay, Hitch, let's have a look." Sally examined the wound, assessing it not to see how bad it was, but to see if she could use the wound to further injure Hitch.

OOC: Sally is looking to see if perhaps if she could accidently severe an artery or something while setting the leg to cause Hitch to bleed out internally or something.

" Hitch is a big guy." Sally said to Mutt and his brother. "Can the two of you look to see if you can get a stretcher or something to carry old Hitch here to the med lab? With my leg all broken up,I am not going to be able to help Doc move him."

[Spoiler-Button] Sally does not want to heal Hitch. Can she automatically fail her roll without being obvious about it?[/spoiler-button]

OOC,Yes, you can choose to automatically fail your roll. Of course, [b]Doc[/b] is still trying his best. People will notice that you failed, but not that you did so on purpose. Actually trying to injure him further might be noticed, however. If you want to try, roll Conceal (the base skill is 15%). If you fail, the others will get Spot Hidden rolls to see if they can tell what you're up to.

In the guard room-
Sally could tell that Hitch was still near death, and it wouldn't take much to push him over the brink. He had been shot in the jaw, but his leg injury was the worst. The break was above the knee in his case, and there was a darkened splotch on his thigh that suggested internal bleeding. If his femoral artery could be breached, he would bleed to death quickly. The problem was that with everyone else around it would be very hard to do so without someone noticing. She could easily cause him intense pain, even without trying.

"I wouldn't dream of making you carry him," said Mutt. "I'll help Doc lug him down to the medical lab."

"I'll go get something from the mess hall," said Jeff. He headed down the hall that Sally hadn't explored yet. There was a metal door on the left and a wooden door on the right, but he walked past both of them. Beyond them were two wide open doorways, one on each side, and he went into the one on the left. There was another room at the end of the hall, but it was too far away to make out details from here.

"I hope we be friends, Sally," said Katarina.

Doc managed to fashion a makeshift splint. Hitch was doing somewhat better now, but he was still in very bad shape. "Okay, that's the best we can do here. Once Jeff gets back with the stretcher we can bring him down to the lab."

"Yes, I would like to get to know you a well, Katarina." Sally said to her with a smile. "It would be great to have another female to chat with while we all whether the storm down here."
Sally decided it best not to intentionally damage Hitch while everyone here looked on. She would have to wait until she as alone before she could do that.

In the guard room-
"Yes, I like that too," said Katarina. She then turned her eyes on Doc. "Is nice to meet you too, Doc. You so handsome. How come you never visit me?"

Doc cleared his throat. "I, ah, didn't think it would be appropriate," he said.

Katarina touched his arm. "Well, I would like for you to come see me sometime." He pulled back slightly, and she looked confused. "What wrong? You no think I'm beautiful?"

"No, you're very beautiful, Katarina. It's just that I'm spoken for."

She pouted. "Too bad. You ever change your mind, I be there."

Jeff returned from the hall carrying a small metal table with legs that were folded up into it. "Here we go," he said, setting it down beside Hitch. "Doc, give me a hand here."

Sally looked to Katrina some what confused. 'Interesting' she thinks to herself.
Sally stands back as the men work to put Hitch on the make shift stretcher. As she does, she scans the room to get a better idea of what goes on here.

In the guard room-
As near as Sally could tell, this room was used as a guard room. The only pieces of furniture were the desk and a metal folding chair behind it. The surface of the desk was covered with magazines. Most of the magazines were porn, but she also noticed an issue of Variety. She didn't know what was in the room to the side, behind the closed door, but there was a lit red bulb above it. What could that mean?

Doc and Mutt picked up Hitch. He groaned as they placed him on top of the table. Then they hoisted it up. "Okay, let's get him to the lab," said Doc.

"I can come too?" asked Katarina.

"Sure," said Mutt. "I'm always pleased with your company."

OOC,[b]Sally[/b], roll Know to figure out what the red light bulb might signify.

Sally looked at the bulb and had and idea as to it's purpose.

OOC: Sorry about the mistake. I did my not my sheet handy and I thought I recalled it being 70.

"So, Katrina, how long have you been down here with everyone? You seem to have an accent that I cannot place, where is it from?"

OOC,That's okay, don't worry about it.

In the guard room-
Katarina smiled at Sally and took her arm to help her walk, following the others into the corridor leading back to the elevator. "I from Romania," she said. "I been here several months. Up top at first, then I move down here. Where you from, Sally?"

"Wow, Romania is a very long ways off. Sounds exciting." Sally said to Katarina as the two walked down the hall.
OOC: Where is Mutt during all of this? Walking next to us, behind us or in front of us?

In the corridor-
Doc led the way, walking backwards while carrying his end of the table on which Hitch lay. Mutt held the other end, walking forwards. Katarina and Sally followed along behind them, and Jeff brought up the rear.

"Is beautiful country," said Katarina. "Is funny, but I always thought America would be more exciting when I live in Romania."

"The rest of you go on ahead," said Jeff. "I'll stay up here and keep an eye on things." He remained in the hall while Doc and Mutt carried Hitch toward the shower room at the other end of the hall.

OOC,[b]Sally[/b], roll Listen.

Sally is unable to hear anything as she walk along behind Doc and Mutt.
Sally slows her walk a little, wincing due to the pain in her broken leg. After a quiet grunt of pain she says to Katarina in a joking manner: "I don't know....things are pretty exciting up there now, eh?"

In the corridor-
"That's right, you said there was storm," said Katarina. "They said there lots of tornadoes in these parts. Is that what happen?"

"Yeah, that's right," said Mutt. "It's a tornado. Nothing to worry your pretty little head about, Katarina. We're all perfectly safe from it down here." He and Doc led the way into the shower room, carrying Hitch. Katarina helped Sally along behind them, while Jeff remained in the corridor.

In the shower room-
Katarina looked around her as she guided Sally through the shower room toward the radar control room, letting the other woman lean on her. "So, Sally, tell me about you," she said. "Where you from?"

Not wanting to upset Mutt, at least not now, Sally played along with his ruse.
" I'm from these parts, actually, but I don't really call any place home just yet. I'm a nurse and I've been traveling around for a while, working in various hospitals as I see the nation. I was coming back to this area to settle down when the tornados his. I was lucky enough to meet up with these guys and they let me whether the storm down here."
Sally looks into Katarina's eyes as she talks. Looking for any hint or signs from her.

In the shower room-
"I happy you here, Sally," said Katarina. "Is good to talk to you. You break leg in storm?" When Sally looked into her eyes, Katarina gave back a semi-vacant stare. Katarina couldn't tell much about the nurse as they walked along to the next room.

OOC,[b]Sally[/b], roll Psychology to determine more about [b]Katarina[/b].

In the radar control room-
The small group continued through the control room on its way to the elevator. Katarina looked at the ancient, dormant machinery in wonder.

OOC: How many men had Sally seen up here? Can you remind me about the hatch that could be closed from up here only?

OOC,I didn't get a Psychology roll from you, so I went ahead and rolled for you.

In the radar control room-
Sally looked over Katarina carefully as they walked and talked, but she couldn't figure her out. She followed the skinheads through the open metal door and into the hatch chamber.

"Deadeye and Ghost," came Jeff's voice from Mutt's radio, "sorry to interrupt your dinner, but I need you in the guard room now!"

In the upper hatch chamber-
The chamber was exactly as it had been when Sally had left it. The door to the generator room was still closed, the elevator was still in place, flush with the floor, and the hatch was still open. Doc and Mutt carried the table bearing Hitch onto the elevator, taking up most of the available space. Katarina stepped on with them, and she was skinny enough that there was still room for Sally. "Let me help you, Sally," she said. offering her a hand.

"Thank you, Katarina." Sally said as she got on the elevator.
As they descended, Sally worked feaverishly to work out a plan. She may have two allies with her, and possibly more in the cells upstairs. A plan started to formulate in her head.

In the upper hatch chamber-
Katarina smiled as she helped Sally onto the elevator's platform. "Is nothing, Sally." she said. "Nichevo. That the same thing in Russian. That what Lara say. She the girl next to me."

Sally pushed the switch to make the elevator descend, and it began to carry her and the others back down. Hitch groaned as the movement caused him pain.

"Hang in there," said Doc. "We'll be there in a few minutes."

"That psycho chink nearly killed me," he said between clenched teeth. "She just appeared out of nowhere and broke my leg with one kick! I swear she was some kind of ninja."

"Yeah, well, ninja or not, she wasn't bulletproof," said Mutt.

"I never got to finish the scene I was filming, and now I'm going to be laid up for a while."

"Your leg get better soon, Hitch," said Katarina. "Then we finish scene, yes?"

Hitch nodded.

In the lower hatch chamber-
The elevator reached the bottom of the shaft, in the room with the tiled floor. Doc and Mutt carried Hitch toward the hallway leading to the meeting room. Katarina took Sally by the arm and started to lead her after them. Sally racked her brain for something, anything, that could get her and the other women out of this hellhole.

OOC,[b]Sally[/b], roll Idea.

An idea came to Sally as they travelled down towards the medical lab

In the lower hatch chamber-
Sally thought hard as Katarina helped her walk across the room. She knew that there were at least four skinheads still up there somewhere, so even if she could get back up and seal the hatch now, the odds would still be badly against her. The ones trapped below could radio the ones above, and she'd be in deep trouble. If there were some way of getting more of them to come down below the hatch, she'd have a better chance. Doc and Katarina were potential allies, but she didn't know them all that well yet. If she could find a way to talk to one or both of them alone, without the other skinheads overhearing, it would help a lot. One thing was clear: she needed to maintain her cover for as long as possible at all costs. Once she took some action that would blow it, there was no going back. If the skinheads figured out what she was really up to before she was ready, she didn't stand a chance.

In the meeting room-
As the women entered the meeting room, Doc and Mutt carried Hitch through the door on the far end, into the hallway running through the living quarters.

OOC: How far ahead are Mutt and Doc? Can they hear us?
In a quiet tone Sally says to Katarina: "The girl next to you, what do you mean? How many girls are up there?"

OOC,They're not far ahead at all, and they've just entered the next room. They can automatically hear anything said in a normal tone of voice, but it would take a Listen roll to hear you speaking quietly or whispering as you are now.

In the meeting room-
"Lara's room next to mine," said Katarina quietly as she led Sally onward. "I speak Russian too, so sometimes we talk in Russian. You speak anything but English? Is six of us up there." She paused and lowered her head sadly. "No, wait. Five."

In the living quarters-
Sally and Katarina entered the hall leading past the small, cubicle-like rooms. A short distance ahead of them, Doc and Mutt brought Hitch through the doorway at the far end.

"Me? No. I can only speak English, unfortunatly. I'd love to learn Russian, though. Maybe you could teach me?" Sally said as they walked along. Calling out ahead to Doc: "DOc? How is Hitch? Is the hanging in there?"

In the living quarters-
"Maybe, but my Russian no better than my English," said Katarina as she helped Sally onward. "Lara speak Russian real good. Maybe she teach you. I can teach you Romanian. Is very beautiful language. It take time to learn, but I hope you stay here after storm over. I really like you, Sally."

In the upper lab hallway-
"He's hanging in there," replied Doc as the women followed him into the hall. "How are you holding up, Sally?"

"Hanging in there?" said Hitch. "It hurts like hell!"

"Oh, you'll be all right. Once we get to the lab I'll give you some painkillers. We're almost there." He and Mutt carefully carried the wounded skinhead down the stairs.

"I help you downstairs," said Katarina, taking Sally's arm.

"I'm okay, my legs a little sore, but nothing I can't deal with." Sally said as they approached the stairs.
Once at the stairs, Sally labored a little as she descended and required the help of Katarina. She did this intentionally to allow Mutt and Doc to get further ahead of them. "I know it would take some time, but learing Romanian would be great too. I think it would be fun" Sally said to Katarina.

In the upper lab hallway-
"Yes, that would be fun," said Katarina as she guided Sally carefully down the stairs. "And maybe you teach me English so I talk it better, yes? I also maybe style your hair? I good at that."

In the lower lab hallway-
Sally and Katarina reached the bottom of the stairs. Nitro stood guard in front of the smashed door at the far end of the hall, blocking the view of the giant worm's carcass. Katarina still couldn't help gasping. "Earthquake did that?" she asked. "Or explosion?"

"Yeah, it was the explosion," said Mutt. "It happened because of the earthquake, but the damage wasn't too bad."

Katarina looked through the windows at the labs in awe. "You make medicine in there?" she asked, indicating the one on the right.

"That's right, Katarina," said Doc. "Right now we have to go in the other lab to help Hitch, but I can show it to you afterwards." He helped Mutt carry Hitch into the medical lab.

Sally followed the group into the medical lab.

" I don't know about doing anything to my hair, Katarina. I'm not too into all of that 'girly stuff', but I look forward to chatting with you. Maybe we can have dinner together tonight?" Sally said to Katarina as she walked into the lab.
"Well, Doc, lets get started." Sally approached Hitch and said to him: "Hang in there, Hitch. We will get you all fixed up as soon as we can."

In the medical lab-
"Yes, I like to have dinner with you later, Sally," said Katarina. "If you ever change mind and want me to style your hair, I be happy to do it. You very beautiful, and is only right you should show it."

Hitch smiled at Sally as Mutt and Doc set his makeshift stretcher down beside a cot and placed him on top of it. "I'm looking forward to it," he said, seeming much calmer now that he was in the lab and was no longer being jostled about.

Mutt placed Hitch's pack and belt in a footlocker beneath the cot.

Doc took out his medical supplies and started gathering material to make a cast. "All right, Sally, let's get to work," he said.

OOC,[b]Sally[/b], roll Medicine if you want to help [b]Doc[/b], and roll 1d3 if you're successful to see how many HP [b]Hitch[/b] gets back. You may of course choose to automatically fail without rolling, but [b]Doc[/b] will still do his best.

"Doc, lets give old Hitch here something to take the edge off and to relax him a bit? S sedative will relax him and help us to set the broken bone properly before we cast it."
OOC: Sally is going to automatically fail her roll, but she wants to distract Doc and talk to him before he can start his roll.

In the medical lab-
"Good idea," said Doc. He fished a syringe out of his medical kit and pointed it upwards, pressing the plunger to squirt a little liquid out. "Hitch, this will take the edge off of your pain. It might knock you out too, but it'll take a few minutes." Hitch nodded, and then Doc found a vein in his arm, tied it off with rubber tubing, swabbed his skin, and injected him.

"I'll leave you to it, then," said Mutt. "Come on, Katarina, let's go back upstairs."

"I can stay with Sally and watch, please?" said Katarina.

Mutt shook his head no. "Sorry, but we've got things to do. You'll see Sally again later. Besides, I've got something you want." He fished something out of Hitch's backpack before shutting the footlocker.

"Okay, Mutt. Goodbye, Sally. Was very nice meeting you. I see you at dinner, yes?" She took Mutt's arm and let him lead her back out into the hall.

OOC,[b]Sally[/b], roll Spot Hidden to determine if you saw what [b]Mutt[/b] removed from the pack.

Sally was too busy in the medical lab to notice what Mutt grabbed.
"It was nice to see you as well. I'll see you soon." Sally said to Katarina.
"Should we get the xray machine set up, Doc?" Sally said. "Perhaps you can show me how that old relic works?" Sally rested her hand on Doc's hand and gave it a squeeze.

In the medical lab-
"Yes, let's do that," said Doc, squeezing gently back. "I'll move the screen back into position." He went over to the heavy lead screen and wheeled it back over to its place near the X-Ray machine, away from the corner where the washtub sat.

Hitch tried to focus, but his mind was starting to get fuzzy. Still, he remained awake for now.

In the lower lab hallway-
Mutt and Katarina went up the stairs.

Sally moves to help Mutt as he walks over to the screen. She tenderly places her hand on his and says quietly to him: "Doc, some thing terrible is going on up there. We have to do something?"

OOC,[b]Katarina[/b] is moving to the thread linked below. If she ever gets a player, her player should stop reading the current thread at this point. [b]Sally[/b] remains in the current thread.

Model Prisoner

In the medical lab-
Doc nodded, kissing Sally and pulling her behind the screen so that Hitch could not see them. He peeked nervously back through the window at Hitch, who lay on the cot, still awake for the moment but fading fast. "Now he won't be suspicious about us being back here," said Doc softly. "And I wanted to do that anyway. You're talking about the girls upstairs, huh?" He lowered his head. "They're usually kept locked in their rooms - little more than prison cells - except sometimes when...well, you know. Everybody's been really busy today, so none of the guys have had a chance to pay them a visit. Now that we're getting the upper hand and taking back the compound, that might change tonight. While Horst was in charge, I didn't dare oppose him, at least not openly. But I did do something about it. Two of the girls escaped a few days ago. I was in my lab when I saw them go by toward the tunnels, but I didn't say anything and let them go past. If Mutt ever found out, he'd have my head. I''ve been half expecting the feds to raid this place since then. That's what Horst wanted, a confrontation. He had this elaborate battle plan to turn the compound into a death trap where they'd pay in blood for every inch of ground, and when they finally took it we'd be gone, using the tunnels as an escape route.

"Horst was a madman, to be honest, but I think Mutt can be reasoned with. Once we finish with Hitch, I'll go have a talk with him about letting the remaining girls go. We can't have them running around the compound, or we'll have more incidents like what happened with Hitch. I don't like the idea of just sending them out into the world on their own, though. They don't even know what's happened yet. Still, I think Mutt will be open to the idea. Our food supplies aren't endless, and I'm sure he won't want to feed any extra mouths if he doesn't have to."

"Doc, I don't think talking to him is a good idea. Just like you said, he won't want them running around and he'll probably say some bullshit about the 'morale of the men' or something. I.... I just don't know." Sally leaned in and embraced Doc and held him. "I just wish you and I could get out of here....together."

In the medical lab-
Doc embraced Sally tightly and kissed her again. "I know, I wish we could too," he said. "But we can't. We can't just run out and abandon our duty, and we certainly can't just leave the girls here with nobody to look out for them. And where else could we possibly go? This compound is the only safe place I know of, and we're all going to need to work together to secure it and hold it. You're right, Mutt might say something like that - he's taken advantage of the girls himself - but there's no harm in asking. The worst that can happen is that he'll refuse, and things won't be any worse than they were already. If he agrees to let them leave, at least they'll have a chance to survive out there." He looked through the window again and saw that Hitch was asleep at last. "Okay, he's under. Let's go put that cast on him."

"Okay. Why don't you get the cast material prepared while I set his leg." Sally said. "Don't go talking to Mutt yet. We should talk more about this first. Do the women up there ever need medical attention?"

In the medical lab-
"I've got it ready," said Doc. "If the women need medical attention, they're never brought to me," said Doc. "None of them have ever been in this lab before, which is why it was unusual for Katarina to be here. I've never talked to any of the girls before. I know they kept dozens of them up on the surface, but I don't think any of them made it after those mosquitos attacked. Only the ones that were already inside would have survived. I don't think Horst ever cared if the women got sick or hurt. It wouldn't surprise me if he and some of the other guys got rough with them." He cleaned the wound and began fitting the cast to Hitch's leg with Sally's help. The damage was extensive, and there were limits to how much he could mend.

OOC,It will take [b]Doc[/b] nine more minutes to finish. [b]Sally[/b], if you succeed at a Medicine roll, this time will be shortened to four more minutes. [b]Hitch[/b] has recovered all of the HP he is going to, so this won't give him any more.

"Those poor girls. I can't image what would have happened to me if you were not here, Doc. I'd probably be up there with the rest of them, or forced to do Mutt's bidding. I have seen the way he looks at me; it's like a dog looking at a steak. It scares me, Doc. Thank god you are here to help."
As she talks, Sally does her best to help doc with the casting of the leg.

In the medical lab-
Doc gave Sally a gentle squeeze. "You don't have to be afraid, Sally," he said. "I'll always be there to protect you. Mutt, yeah, he's got the hots for you. What man wouldn't? He probably still thinks he can seduce you, but I don't think he'll force himself on you. You're one of us. He didn't try anything when you were alone with him upstairs, did he?" Doc continued to work on Hitch's leg, and while Sally tried to help him, she was clearly distracted and unable to contribute much to the effort. "Hey, if you want to take a break, I can handle this myself. You've earned a rest. Mutt isn't so bad, really. Horst was far worse."

"Thanks, Doc." Sally said with a sigh. "Maybe I will take a break. Do you need anything while I am walking about?"

In the medical lab-
"No thanks, I'm good," said Doc as he continued to work. "I've got everything I need. Just relax and take a load off. Maybe when I'm done we can have dinner together. I know you've already eaten, but you looked hungry enough then that you might want some more - or we could just sit and talk."

Looking to Doc, Sally said: "Yeah. I'd like that. Maybe just a quiet dinner. Just you and I."
Remembering that they never were able to examine the worm, Sally moved towards its corpse and began to examine its lifeless body.

OOC: What kind of roll do I need to to examine the worm?

In the medical lab-
"I'd like that too, Sally," said Doc as she went back out into the hall.

In the lower lab hallway-
Sally emerged from the medical lab and saw Nitro standing guard at the far end of the hall. He smiled at her when he saw her. The worm's carcass was past him, through the ruined door to the decontamination chamber, but she'd need to get closer to get a better look.

OOC,You'd need to roll Biology when examining the worm. It's not listed on your character sheet, but Botany (which is a subset of Biology and is not a regular skill on any character sheet) is. [b]Sally[/b] should have Biology skill, so you can just consider that she has Biology at 15% and roll against that. Also, roll Listen.

Sally nodded her head to Nitro and said, "Hey, Nitro." She moved towards the worm and began to examine it. Despite her knowledge of the physical sciences, Sally was not able to discern anything about the worm.
As Sally made her way through the hallway, Sally was not able to hear anything.

In the lower lab hallway-
"Hey, Sally," said Nitro as she approached. "What can I do you for?" He nodded when she looked past him into the ruined decontamination chamber. "Hell of a thing, ja? I wouldn't have believed it could exist if I did not see for myself. It shouldn't exist!" He shook his head. "Maybe Doc can make some sense of it."

Sally could only see the monstrous worm's squid-shaped head and the eight tentacles that emerged from it. The bulk of the creature was still in the shaft room, and there was no way to see past the inner door that was clogged by its carcass, which had a thick, tough hide. It had been blackened and shredded by the explosion that had killed it, and there wasn't much she could tell from looking at its remains. It only saddened her to think of how it had killed her friends and very nearly been the death of her too. She couldn't help but feel glad it was dead.

"Ugh" Sally exclaimed as she looked over the worm, "Yeah, this is a strange beast indeed. Issuppose it's possible that it lived undiscovered deep in the earth for all this time, but based on how aggressive it is, I can't imagine that humans would not have encountered it at some point."
She turned and returned to the lab.
In stead of heading to the lab where Doc was, Sally moved to the lab that was next door. She walked around the lab and inspected the contents of the room. In particular, she was looking for some medicine or chemicals that would or could be deadly in injected into a human.

In the lower lab hallway-
Sally hobbled back down the hall to the entrance to the labs. Doc was still busy working on Hitch's leg in the medical lab, and his back was to her. The pharmaceutical lab was still deserted.

OOC,[b]Sally[/b], roll Pharmacy to try to find a lethal injectable drug.

Using the pharmacalogical knowledge, Sally searches for a leathal drug.

In the pharmaceutical lab-
Sally looked around, but so far she couldn't find anything that would be of use. Some of the drugs in the lab weren't even labeled, and others had labels with unfamiliar names. Doc probably had some sort of system for organizing everything in this lab, but she didn't know it.

The ground began to shake slightly. It was another mild tremor. In a few seconds it had passed.

OOC,[b]Sally[/b], if you want to keep looking for a lethal drug, roll Pharmacy again.

Sally looks around again for some lethal drugs, and has much more success this time around.

In the pharmaceutical lab-
Sally finally found a supply of morphine in the fridge, clearly labeled as such. There were also syringes that could be used to inject it. She knew exactly how much to give someone under normal circumstances, and she could also easily give someone a lethal overdose. But was she really ready to kill someone in cold blood, even someone who so clearly deserved it? Could she live with herself afterwards?

Sally pocketed the Morphine and syringes and returned to the medical lab with Doc. "How's he doing, sweetie?" Sally said to Doc.

In the medical lab-
"He's doing better now, Sally," said Doc as he was finishing up the cast on Hitch's leg. "He's sleeping like a baby. It'll take him a month or so before his leg is fully mended, though. I'll be done in just a minute. Then maybe we can have that dinner."

"Sure, that sounds great. Is there anything I can do to help out?"

In the medical lab-
"Thanks, but I'm just about done here," said Doc. He finished up putting the cast on Hitch's leg. "Now he just needs plenty of rest. We should X-Ray his leg too. You could use another X-Ray so we can stop the spread of whatever's inside you. Do you want to go get dinner first, or would you rather get the X-Rays done now?"

"Let's just go ahead and get the x-rays done now so we can enjoy dinner" Sally said with a smile. She walked over to the xray table and sit down on it. "Chest x-ray again?" she asked as she pulled off her top with a sly smile.

In the medical lab-
Doc grinned mischievously at Sally, walking behind her. "Sounds great to me, sweetheart," he said, taking hold of her shoulders and massaging them. As awful as Sally felt in this place, she couldn't help but relax a little as the stress drained from her. Doc moved her hair to the side and planted a kiss on the back of her neck. Then he gently lowered her onto her back on the table and positioned the tube over her chest. "The last chest X-Ray came up completely clean, but we can take another exposure to make sure it still is. Hold still." He went behind the screen and took the X-Ray. "Okay, I've got it. It'll take about 20 minutes to develop, but once I get it started we can just leave it while we have dinner."

"Might as well take some more while we are here and develop them all at once." Sally said. "Xray my whole body to make sure it is all gone, okay?"

In the medical lab-
"Okay," said Doc. "Which part should I try next?"

"Well, you did my leg once, how about my head?" Sally said.

In the medical lab-
"If you want," said Doc. He took the used photographic plate out of the X-Ray machine and loaded in a new one. "Your chest X-Ray earlier was 100 percent healthy, so I don't see how anything could have gotten through there to reach your head so fast. I can also only develop two X-Rays at a time in the darkroom. We only X-Rayed your lower leg before, so I was thinking of doing your thigh next." He ran his hand along it, from just above Sally's cast up to her hip. "Still, I'll X-Ray whatever you want first. Let me just get this one started, and then I'll take the next exposure." He took the plate into the darkroom and closed the curtain.

Sally played along with Doc, "Sure, let's do they thigh next." As she lay there, Sally became curious about the nature of the infection in her and whether it may be in others.
"Doc?" she asked. "Did you xray Hitch's leg? Did he have signs of the infection in it?"

In the medical lab-
"No, I haven't had a chance to X-Ray his leg yet," said Doc. "Yours is more important, so we'll do it first. Hitch didn't have any signs of infection anyway." Doc emerged from the darkroom and returned to the X-Ray machine. "He wasn't attacked by some creature, though. His leg was broken by a good solid kick. It was a clean break at least, like a board broken exactly in half by a karate expert's chop or something. No discoloration around the break or anything like that." He moved the tube to point at Sally's thigh and then went behind the lead screen one more time. "Okay, hold still again." The machine buzzed for a fraction of a second. "All done."

"Yeah. I know that his leg was broken with a kick, but back at the diner there was a doctor who was trying to find a cure for the infection that believed that the infection was already in everyone and something was activating it. We'd see people who died from something other than a bit get back up so it makes sense." Sally said. "I'd like to x-ray him for the sake of experimentation."

OOC: Does Sally know anything about the effects of the nuclear strikes? She doesn't, does she?

OOC,I don't think [b]Sally[/b] knows anything about the nuclear strikes, but I could be wrong. You can look back at Chapter 2 if you want to check (the link is The Story So Far... in the main forum).

In the medical lab-
"All right," said Doc, removing the plate from the machine. "I'd want to X-Ray Hitch's leg anyway. From the sound of it, the creature that broke your leg is very different from the walking dead, but maybe there's some connection." He went back into the darkroom. "Like I said, though, I can only develop two X-Rays at the same time, so it'll have to wait until after dinner." He emerged a moment later and slid a fresh plate into the machine, then offered her his hand. "Shall we, Sally?"

OOC: I am pretty sure all of that happened over the radio at the Motel after Sally and the crew had left.

"We shall" Sally said as she hopped off the xray table and followed Doc.

In the medical lab-
Doc put an arm around Sally's waist and let her lean on him as he led her out to the hall.

In the lower lab hallway-
Doc and Sally stepped out into the hall. Nitro was still standing watch at the far end. "We're going upstairs to get a bite to eat, Nitro," said Doc. "Mind the shop while we're gone. Hitch is sleeping like a baby, and he'll be all right until we get back."

"Okay, enjoy!" Nitro called back.

Doc helped Sally toward the stairs leading up.

OOC,[b]Sally[/b], roll Listen. [b]Sally[/b] didn't hear anything about nukes on the radio directly. [b]Stephanie[/b] and [b]Mr. Foo[/b] did, however, and it's possible that she was around when one of them talked about it. I don't think she was, though.

OOC: Yeah. I don't think she was either.

OOC: Sorry.
As Sally and Doc walked to dinner, she was too lost in thought regarding the use of xray to destroy the virus to hear anything.

In the lower lab hallway-
Doc helped Sally climb the stairs while Nitro remained at his post.

In the upper lab hallway-
Doc led Sally down the hall, past the closed wooden door the led to Mutt's office and toward the living quarters. "Don't be afraid, Sally," he said, hugging her as they walked. "You're going to be all right, I promise you."

"I really hope so, Doc. I can't help but to think about those poor women upstairs, though."

In the upper lab hallway-
"Yeah," said Doc, deep in thought. "Let's check on them when we go up there." He led Sally onward.

In the living quarters-
As Doc and Sally passed through the living quarters on their way to the meeting room beyond, there was another, stronger tremor. It was followed by the sound of stone being smashed, and it was coming from behind and below them. It was exactly like what had happened when the worm had burst into the facility earlier!

"Oh Jesus!" Sally said to Doc, grabbing ahold of his arm tightly. "That has to be another one of those worm thing!"

OOC: That noise came from the are of the medical lab?

"Shit! We've got to get to safety, Doc. With no more explosives down there, that thing is going to be hard to kill! Do you have a radio?" Sally beings to hurry off towards to lift and pulls Doc along with her.

In the living quarters-
"Not on me," said Doc, easily keeping up with Sally, who was slowed because she had to use her crutches. He tried to pick her up, but he simply lacked the strength, so he settled for pulling her along with him.

In the meeting room-
"There are explosives down there," said Doc as he and Sally fled. "Mutt planted a Claymore, but it didn't go off. Guess the worm just dug around it. Nitro's got plenty on him, and there's more in the armory too, but he doesn't have a key. Come on, the elevator's just ahead. We have to get upstairs!"

Sallly hurried as quickly as she could with her broken leg.

In the meeting room-
Doc hurried with Sally into the lower hatch chamber.

In the lower hatch chamber-
When Doc and Sally arrived, they saw to their dismay that the elevator was all the way at the top of the shaft. The switch box that could be used to summon it was at the bottom, but it would take precious seconds for the elevator to make its way back down.

OOC,[b]Sally[/b], roll Listen. If you want to look back down the hall the way you came, roll Spot Hidden as well. You may do this while pulling the switch to call the elevator.

Sally pulls the switch on the elevator console then anxiously turns to look down the hall. All she can see, however, is the imagined image of the worm coming after her. The chaos and screaming that is sure to come fills her ears and prevents her from hearing anything.
Sally draws her pistol in anticipation of what is sure to come.

OOC: Holy crap! I don't think I could have rolled worse for my skill checks!

OOC,Well, they could have been a [i]little[/i] worse - but not much! Anyway, some things you're better off not seeing. :twisted:

In the lower hatch chamber-
The elevator began to descend, far too slowly for Sally's liking. With the noise of the elevator, the blood pounding in her temples, and the terror gripping her heart, she couldn't focus on anything else but getting the hell out of there. Doc had his pistol out too, and he looked back down the hall. "Nitro's coming!" he said. "So is..." He shuddered, but quickly collected himself. The sight hadn't affected him too much. "Damn, that one's much bigger than the last one!"

Finally the elevator reached the bottom of the shaft, and Doc helped Sally onto it.

Sally pressed the up button on the elevator as soon as she got on it. She turned towards the hall way and willed the elevator up.

OOC: Does Sally see Nitro? Is he holding a weapon?

OOC,No, [b]Sally[/b] doesn't see him. She failed her Spot Hidden roll badly.

In the lower hatch chamber-
As soon as Sally flipped the switch, the elevator began to rise steadily. Just as it was entering the hole in the ceiling, she heard Nitro's voice cry out from down the hall to the meeting room: "Hey, wait for me! Scheisse!"

In the upper hatch chamber-
The elevator arrived at the top of the shaft and stopped moving. The hatch remained open, just as it had been left. The metal door that Doc had told her led to the generator room was still closed, and the other metal door on the opposite end of the chamber remained open. That one led back to the control room and beyond.

OOC: How many guards did Sally see up here when she was here before?

"We have an emergency below!" Sally yells at the top of her lungs. "Another worm is attacking and Nitro needs help! Hurry!"

In the upper hatch chamber-
"Come on, Sally," said Doc, ushering her off of the elevator platform and toward the open door. "Let's get you out of here."

"We're coming!" shouted a man's voice from beyond the open door.

"Ghost!" called Doc. "Who else is with you?"

"Deadeye's behind me!" Ghost came into view through the open door as he raced across the control room toward the elevator, an AK-47 in his hands.

"Oh jesus! Hurry" Sally said as she exited the elevator room with Doc. She moved to stand by the large door that could only be opened on one side. "Is there a cache of weapons up here? We've only got these piddly pistols"

OOC,The door to the hatch chamber can be opened from either side. It is the hatch that can only be opened from above.

In the upper hatch chamber-
Ghost rushed into the room as Sally and Doc exited. The elevator began to descend at that moment. "Yeah, there's an armory on this level!" he called back. "Mutt's got the key."

In the control room-
When Sally and Doc left the hatch chamber, Deadeye rushed into the control room from the shower area. He had a sniper rifle on his back and an M-16 in his hands. "I'm comin'!" he drawled with a Kentucky accent.

There was a loud high-pitched whistling sound from below, followed by an explosion and a grunt of pain.

"Get her out of here!" Deadeye shouted to Doc as he hurried for the hatch chamber.

OOC,[b]Sally[/b], roll Know to figure out what might have made the sound.

The source of the sound below was the least of Sally's concerns as he hurried along with Doc to the hatch.

Sally stops at the hatch. "Doc, we need to stay here incase they need us or in case we need to close the hatch." she says to him.

In the upper hatch chamber-
Doc headed back inside with Sally. "Sally, it's too dangerous for you in here!" he said.

"Yeah, leave it to us," said Ghost. "You two get on out of here."

The elevator rose back up. Nitro stood upon it, fear on his countenance and shrapnel wounds in his right thigh. "It's coming!" he said, stumbling off of the platform. "I fired my LAW at it, but my aim was a little off. I still hurt it some, but I got caught in the blast too. Everyone get out of this room! I've got to lock the door and rig it to blow." He no longer had his LAW, but he still had an AK-47, a handgun, and a satchel charge.

Ghost and Deadeye slammed the hatch shut and sealed it tight. "That's not going to stop it," said Doc. "It can tunnel through solid rock." As if to accent his words, there was a rumbling sound from below and the ground trembled slightly. "Nitro, your leg-"

"Worry about that later! Get yourselves clear and let me plant the bomb!"

Mutt's voice came from the radios in the room: "This is Mutt, what's your status?"

With her plan to lock everone below and escape with Doc and the women FUBAR, Sally hurried as fast as she could with Doc. "We need bigger weapons! Nitro, the key to the armory, where is it?"

In the hatch chamber-
Doc helped Sally out of the chamber and back into the control room, followed by Ghost, Deadeye. and Nitro.

In the control room-
Everyone rushed into the control room from the hatch chamber.

"Doc, Sally, and Nitro made it up," replied Ghost into his radio. "Nitro hurt it, but he got a little hurt too. Nothing Doc can't fix. We sealed the hatch, and we're going to rig the door of the hatch chamber."

"Good, glad you've got it well in hand," answered Mutt's voice.

"Mutt's got the armory key," said Nitro, slamming the metal door shut and locking it. "Everyone get clear while I plant the charge. You don't want to be near it if it goes off." He pointed at the doorway leading into the shower area.

"Mutt's in the studio," said Deadeye, "but I wouldn't go in there if'n I were y'all. It ain't pretty."

The bottom of Sally's stomach dropped out when she heard Deadeye's words. 'What the hell has that bastard done this time?' she thought to herself.
"Doc, we have to get out of here" Sally said quietly to Doc and he hustled off with him away from the others. "Do you have a vehicle key? We need to get those girls free and escape while he can"

In the control room-
Doc ran with Sally back to the shower room, followed by Deadeye and Ghost. Nitro remained behind and planted the satchel charge, setting it to explode when the door was breached.

In the shower room-
Sally and Doc hurried back through the shower room. The cell block was visible ahead. Ghost and Deadeye took up positions outside the blast radius, crouching low and aiming their rifles at the metal door. "Come on, Nitro!" shouted Ghost, waving for him to join them.

"Keep going, Sally," said Doc, helping her onwards. He lowered his voice. "Mutt and Jeff have the keys. We've got a panel van and a pickup truck topside, but I don't think running away is the answer. They'll kill this worm like they killed the other one. Although, if they keep coming..."

"I don't know why they wouldn't keep coming" Sally said as she hurried along. Who is Jeff? I am not sure we can deal with Mutt just the two of us."

In the shower room-
"Jeff is Mutt's brother," said Doc as he and Sally kept running, entering the cell block. "You met him the last time you were up here."

Nitro finished setting the charge and ran into the shower area, taking up a position facing the door alongside Ghost and Deadeye.

In the cell block-
"I don't want to fight Mutt," said Doc quietly as he and Sally raced through the cell block. "I'm sure that under the circumstances I can convince him that we need to evacuate, and we can get the girls to the surface that way."

Up ahead, both of them saw a young Russian-looking woman burst into the guard room from the door on the left side that Sally had noticed earlier. She was gorgeous, with long blond hair, and about twenty years old. She was wearing lingerie, but she also had a utility belt around her waist much like the one Sally wore. Tears were streaming down her cheeks. Bump and grind music could be heard ahead and to the left.

OOC,By the way, you haven't posted for [b]Emily[/b] in Trouble In Store for quite some time.

OOC: I have not seen updates for that come into my inbox. Crap. Sorry about that.
OOC: Is this woman Katarina?

Sally approaches the woman; "What happened, sweetie?" Cautiously, Sally peers into the room from which she came.

Sally recalls back and thinks she remembers Katarina talking about a Russian woman with whom she conversed with in the cell block, however, she was not sure if she had the right idea. Sally did her best to calm the young woman down.
"Settle down. Settle down. It's okay. My name is Sally. What's your name?" Sally reached out to take her hand as she spoke

In the guard room-
Sally remembered that Katarina did mention a Russian girl named Lara. The girl was about to run in fright in the other direction when she saw Doc's shaven head, but Sally was able to keep her from panicking and calm her down.

"Lara," she said, still crying. "Lara Voronova."

"I'm Doc," said Doc. "Don't be afraid, we won't hurt you."

"Mutt will. He kill me very slowly when he get me." She glanced back through the door behind her. "I don't think he knows I got loose. He had me on the rack, and then Katarina distracted him. She...she go in the bathroom with him, sacrifice her body to buy me time. Zoe and I got free. She tried to throw tear gas grenade into bathroom to take down Mutt, but it bounce back and get us instead. I ran, but Zoe and Raquel didn't make it. Please, we have to hurry!"

Sally and Doc looked through the door too. On the other side was a large movie studio, and a scene of gruesome carnage. Three dead bodies lay near the entrance. Two of them were women in their twenties, both wearing lingerie. One was a Chinese woman with a bullet through her heart and two in her skull. The other was Hispanic, with a single bullet hole in her head. There was also a skinhead wearing only boxer shorts. Sally recognized him as Jeff. He had a bullet wound in his forehead and another in his thigh. Further inside the studio were a few movie sets. One was of a hotel room, and a young blonde lay on the floor sobbing. Another Hispanic woman, taller and with a dark complexion, lay on the bed with both of her arms handcuffed to the posts. She was crying uncontrollably too. Both of them were clad only in lingerie as well. The music coming from within the studio stopped, the song having reached its conclusion.

Doc was not too badly affected by the bodies, his medical training steeling him against the sight.

OOC,[b]Sally[/b], roll Spot Hidden to see what else you notice, and roll Sanity for seeing the bodies. Remember that you get a +10 bonus on your Sanity rolls. Sanity loss is 1/1d4+1.

OOC: Sallys string of shitty rolls continues!
Sally was unable tofocus her attention on anything other than the corpses. He has seen so much, and her mind could no longer handle it.
Sally's fragile mind was further damaged

Speaking in hished tones: "Where is Mutt, sweetie?"

In the guard room-
"In the bathroom with Katarina, I told you," hissed Lara, still crying. "It's in the movie set like a hotel room, the one where Raquel and Zoe are. We must hurry! You have two guns, give me one!"

"We're not going to let him hurt you," whispered Doc, "but you can't be seen with a weapon. We're going to get all of you out of here, but you have to give me that belt. You've got to trust us, Lara. We're the only chance you have."

Then there was another tremor, this one more violent. The sound of breaking rock could be heard in the distance, coming from back the way Sally had come.

OOC,[b]Sally[/b], roll Listen.

Despite the all that was going on around her, Sally could hear details about what was going on around her.

"He's right, Laura. We will get you out of here. You can trust us."
Sally looked to the corpses in the other room. "We should get moving. I we don't want to be around with them for too much longer."

In the guard room-
Sally could hear footsteps approaching from the open door to the left. One pair was heavy, and the other was lighter, but with the click of heels.

"Shit, Mutt and Katrina are coming. Follow my lead or we are all dead" Sally said to Laura and Doc.
Sally grabbed Laua by the elbow and spun her around. She pointed her pistol at the back of her head as she reached around to take the ammo belt off of her. "Don't move a fucking muscle, bitch!" Sally said loudly. Quietly ,Sally said to Doc and Laura: "Follow along and make it good, Laura. Doc, if Mutt gets shooty, we need to fight back."

In the guard room-
"Oh no," came the frightened voice of Katarina from within the studio. "What was that? Where Lara? She escape again?"

Lara nodded, whimpering as Sally relieved her of the belt and strapped it on herself. It had three hand grenades, and pouches with both 9mm and 5.56mm NATO magazines. "I give up!" she cried.
