"I am sorry folks but belive me this is not your wife and mother anymore but a zombie." Alvarez then fired at the zombie and hit it with 1 bullet which hit the zombie in right arm for some minor damage.

(This is going to be one of those Reservoir Dogs moments.)

At the farmhouse-
Several things happened in quick succession.

Alvarez sprayed lead at Betty, clipping her right arm but not even slowing her down. Unfortunately for him, Lloyd acted without thinking and turned the shotgun on him. "Bastard!" he shouted, shooting Alvarez, blowing away his remaining leg and killing him outright. No sooner had his legless body hit the floor than Betty rushed Lloyd, tackling him to the floor and biting him viciously in the neck. Llloyd passed out, blood spilling from his wound.

Kyle held his panic in check, but he didn't stick around. He ran into the living room right behind Emily and Lauren, sobbing.

Betty crushed Lloyd in her impossibly strong arms, starting to squeeze the life out of him. Then she clamped her teeth down mightily on his right arm, snapping it like a twig and ending her husband's life.

(Sorry, Alvarez, that's the way the dice fall. Emily and Lauren, it's your turn to act now. You can make it to the top of the stairs this round.)

"Go! Go! Go!" Emily says as she rushes to the top of the stairs. As she goes, she looks for something to tip over as she runs by to try and cover Lauren her escape. That failing, she also looks for the outline of an attic door as she and Lauren hurry up the stairs.
(OOC: It it requires Emily to stop running to tip something, she will not tip something over.)

Lauren's eyes blurred with tears as she ran from the gunfire and screams. She was going to try to make it the stairs and all she could do was hope her mother and Kyle would make it too. She was going to try and raise her father on the radio again once she was upstairs.

(Thanks, Steve. This is the Chapter 3 endgame, so you know there's going to be a high body count. Well, Alvarez could have run away - okay, limped away - like the ladies did. Then the zombie might have gone after Lloyd or Kyle.)

At the farmhouse-
Emily and Lauren ran up the stairs, with Kyle right behind them. So far there was no pursuit. At the top of the stairs was a hall with three doors on one side.

(Emily and Lauren, roll Spot Hidden to spot the attic door. The base chance is 25%. Lauren has a -5 penalty because of her helmet. If you fail, roll Idea. There is nothing to tip over in the living room directly on your route to the stairs.)

Lauren Doesn't see anything.
But she did have an idea.

Emily does not spot anything as he heads up the stairs, but and idea does come to her.

(Emily has 25% Spot Hidden, not 20%, as her vision penalty went away quite some time ago. It's Lauren who has the penalty because of the helmet, but the roll failed either way.)

At the farmhouse-
Neither woman could see an attic door, but they both realized that Kyle lived here. He might know where it was.

"Kyle, where is hte attic?"

(OOC: You said there was no persuit?)

(OOC: Will we still need to fast talk Kyle into shooting his mother?)

(There is no pursuit...yet. The last you saw Betty, she was still eating Lloyd. Yes, you will need to Fast Talk Kyle successfully if you want him to shoot his mother. If you want Lauren to say something to her father on the radio, just include it in your post.)

At the farmhouse-
Kyle sniffled, then pointed at a section of the ceiling at the far end of the hall, near a window. The trapdoor was almost indistinguishable from the ceiling. "There it is," he said between his tears. "It gets stuck sometimes. I'll get it open." He pulled at the handle and grunted, easily getting it open. The inside of the trapdoor was a narrow ladder, and it descended all the way to the hallway. "You two go up first."

(Only one person can go up the ladder per round.)

Lauren decides talking to her father can wait and runs up the stairs into the attic.

Emily hurries up the ladder right on Lauren's heels. "Kyle, we need to pull the ladder up behind you as you come up, okay?"

(Emily, you couldn't get up the ladder in the last round. Only one person can climb per round, and Lauren went first. Now you can head up there.)

At the farmhouse-
"Okay," said Kyle, sorrow evident in his voice.

Lauren reached the top of the ladder and pulled herself up into the attic. It was shadowy, but sunlight streaming in from the windows at either end allowed her to see. There were a number of dusty boxes stored up here, and a lightbulb with a pull cord dangled from the ceiling, under the peak of the house.

(Emily, roll Listen.)

Lauren pulled the cord for the light bulb then tried the radio. "Dad can you hear me. We are in trouble here dad. Please help us. Please!!"

In the attic-
The light bulb lit up when Lauren pulled it. Motes of dust danced in the glow.

(You can roll Listen as well, Lauren. The base skill is 25%, and your helmet gives you a -5 penalty, so you succeed on 20 or less.)

Lauren doesn't hear anything unusual.
After she listened, Lauren decided she was going to search the attic for anything that could help until her mother and kyle came up.

In her panic to get up into the attic, Emily does not hear anything. She hurries up the ladder, into the attic, and lays on the floor by the attic opening so she can look down into the hallway.

In the attic-
Lauren couldn't see anything around but the boxes. All of them were taped shut, but she was easily able to cut through the tape with a knife. As she was opening one at random, she heard her father on the radio: "Lauren, we're on our way! What floor of the house are you on? What room are you in? Describe to me what's happening! Help us help you!" Inside the box were stacks of old magazines. They were back issues of Sports Illustrated dating back to the late 1980's, before she had even been born.

Emily climbed up the angled ladder and pulled herself into the attic. She turned around to face Kyle, who also heard nothing. He was starting to climb up the ladder after her when Betty came running up behind him and nearly bit him! "Ma, stop!" he cried, scurrying up the ladder and through the trapdoor. He flopped onto the floor beside Emily, gasping for breath. "Close it!"

(Kyle has already used his action to get up the ladder, so only Emily and Lauren may act before Betty gets her next turn. If you want to haul up the trapdoor, you'll need to roll STR x 5. If you both work together, you may take the sum of your STR scores and mulitply that by 5, giving you an 85% chance. If you do this, either of you may make and post the roll.)
