I was wondering if you guys had seen previews for that new movie coming out Quarantine. If so. You should watch [REC] The original version of it. It has subtitles but i can see it being a bit better. First zombie movie in a while thats actually scared the hell outta me.

Reading JL Bourne- Day by Day Armageddon, a personal journal of a survivor of the Zombie Apocalypse. Quite a bit of fun.

In short- I recommend it. If you are thinking of reading it, then perhaps you should stop here.
The book is written as journal of a survivor. It begins shortly after New Years, and our hero has made a New Years Resolution to keep a journal, thus the book which chronicles the first 1/2 year of the zombie apoc. Apparently the zombie infection spreads from China, with US military folks inadvertently bringing back the virus here where it promptly escapes from CDC. But our hero is a survivor. A naval pilot on an intelligence plane, he gets a bit more info on this than most. A resourceful, if emotionless and solitary man, he installs greater barriers to his home, buys ammo for his CAR-15, cleans his guns, and makes sure the solar panels are keeping the batteries (discards from a submarine) alive. Soon the zeds are walking about his San Antonio neighborhood as are some not so nice humans. He unites with a neighbor (an engineer) and together they plan an escape. None to soon as the government sends warning that it will be nuking major population centers to reduce the zombie horde. Sadly, while nukes may vaporize both zombies and survivors, radiation makes the zombie horde apparently more dangerous. Not only are they irradiated, but they also can move faster. Worse news, the zombies seem to be learning.
Our heroes learns this as they flee to an island off Corpus Christi and slowly begin to gather other survivors until they are 6. Alas, the zombie are ever present, waiting to take advantage of any mishap. And the mishaps happen. They return to the mainland, find shelter in a most unusual place (perhaps even more unusual than what is found under the T-Bone), and our story reaches a cliffhanger ending. A sequel is in the works.
Ok, I have to say I enjoyed this. I got it on Thurs, started reading it on Saturday and by this morning it was done- and I am a slow reader. The book is written as a journal, there are photographs, crossed out sections, underlined and circled spots, and the book itself looks like a military field manual. Indeed, the back suggests that's what you are getting. A bit cheezy, perhaps but it helps give the story some authenticity and allows you to forgive the typos (are they intentional?), misspellings, and honestly some very weak writing. The book is really about our heroes dealing with zombies, finding shelter, moving to look for something else, scavenging, bumping into zeds. And that's about it. You won't get much deep insight or sense of character, but it rings authentic in form.
In story- well, zombies tend to show up when you expect them too, they don't show up when, realistically, they should. The virus spreads really really fast, and perhaps more time could have been taken with it. There are some odd coincidences. But to be fair, I can forgive that. Overall, it was a fun read and useful (as are the Zombie Survivor's Handbook and World War Z) for those who plan to survive the zombie apocalypse!

(also bought "Old man's war" at the same time, since it's often compared with Starship Troopers and The Forever War)
Re: OOC- Chapter 3- Over, Under, and Through- General Discussion
Old Man's War is fantastic, its a great read. I'm trying to get the next 2 books in the "series" but haven't been able to find em yet. You should also try to check out Armor. It pretty decent and only kinda bogs down in the middle. You should also check out John Scalzi's 'Agent to the Stars' I think that was the name of it. Its a free online novel that he put out that is really quite good.

Thanks! I have crazy awesome Ash dreams too! A few nights ago I dreamed I was Lionel, but it was in the late 1940's or early 1950's and he had somehow remained in the past for several years! Then the night after I dreamed I was me in London, but it was nothing to do with Ash apart from the location.

I don't wanna post for Gardner! If I post, then he'll die!
I dreamt that there were kids with molotov cocktails they were throwing at their old teacher who'd stopped by this barnyard with a few other motorists to "pick up supplies" aka loot before heading off again.

Cool. I could use some good zombie dreams.
I went ahead and rolled for you, and I edited the last post in Abducted. I got a 1, so it's lucky for Gardner that I did. Not so lucky for the other guy...
